What’s the best way to drill a silver dollar sized hole in an agate?

Hello, I was wondering if someone can give me some advice. I have a mass agate that’s half polished on one side. I want to drill a hole into it and put a light inside it. What’s the best tool to do this? Would a drill press work and just keep the drill bit wet? Thank you so much for your advice.

So my lapidary saw broke.

My 6 inch lapidary saw broke. It just died on me and it’s only 6 months old. The company is going to repair it but now I am not able to get any lapidary work done. Honestly I wish I never got into this hobby. I love it but it’s not financially worth it to sell jewelry. The only piece I sold was at a charity auction and the only piece sold for $15 and took me 2+ hours to make. Not even including the materials that equals out at $6-7 an hour. I live in Seattle and the min wage is over $17 a hour. Yeah I totally screwed up spending the money on the equipment and slabs. But now I can’t even finish off and sell what slabs and materials I have left to hope to recoop the costs. Anyway, just some advice for anyone wanting to get into this to sell you cabochons. You might lose a lot of money.

Is anyone hiring in Marysville?

Hey everyone. Does anyone know of any places hiring entry level right now? I have applied to all the usual entry level min wage jobs and haven’t heard back. I’m getting desperate and sad. Thank you for any advice or direction you can give me.

The struggle is so real

So I want to start selling my wire wraps. I know they are painful to look at but I have been trying and struggling and trying again and struggling again. But I just decided to showcase the stones. I have my own lapidary shop and have connections to cheap rock or I rockhound in the woods myself. I love the cabochon making process and collecting the rocks. I plan on charging no more than $35 for a pendant with chain but the rock is from small collections and hand made by me using $2,500 worth of lap equipment. I’m just having such a hard time with wire. Anyway I’m just rambling right now and could use some encouragement.

Can anyone tell me what stone this is?

Hey everyone. I got a slab of what ever this stone is and made it into a pendant. I’m obsessed with the stone but I have no idea what the stone is. It’s a pink and yellow swirly pattern and fairly soft. I got it a gem show so not sure the location of where it was hounded from. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Anyone else wish they had a mom like Lorelei?

I always loved the relationship between Lorelei and Rory. Rory could go to her mom with any concern and Lorelei would be there listening and trying to help. Anyone else wish they had that with their own parent? I never become a mom but if I did, I would model our relationship after Lorelei.

Thinking of becoming a mortician.

Hello. I was thinking of becoming a mortician. Before I consider going to school and spending a bunch of money on an education, is there job opportunities in the mortuary field? I already went to school for something else and by the time I graduated, the jobs had dried up. Thank you for any advice.

1st class passengers and the movie a night to remember. Need help.

Hey everyone. I have a very specific titanic 1st class passenger question. My friend’s family died on the titanic in first class and I can’t remember their name. He is the decedent of the family that was in the movie a night to remember. In the scene there is a 13 year old boy going into a life boat and I believe lightoller told the boy to get out of the life boat because he wasn’t a woman or a child. Then the kids father spoke up and said he was 13 and just a child. He was allowed to stay in the life boat. Does anyone remember the name of that child and the family he came from. Sadly I lost contact with my friend so I can’t contact him to ask. Any help would gladly be appreciated. Thank you. 🙏
