‘26 Rebel 300 e-clutch (questions)
I picked up a ‘26 Rebel 300 e-clutch just over a week ago. It’s a great little bike. Perfect for puttering around the suburbs of Chicago. Plenty of oomph for non-highway riding as a 210lb man.
My only complaints are the short gears (lots of shifting) and that you can’t override the e-clutch for an entire ride. It’s makes low speed maneuvering where you need to ride the friction zone difficult because the e-clutch will re-engage while practicing at low speeds. Even if you pull the clutch and shift out of neutral, the e-clutch bypass is temporary.
So how do you all handle low speed maneuvering like cone weaves, figure 8s, tight u-turns, etc with the e-clutch? So far, I’m finding that you have to ride this as if it is a DCT and drag the rear brake as a pseudo friction zone instead of using the clutch.
Overall, this is a fantastic bike. Super easy to ride. If you are getting it to also learn how to ride manual it isn’t as useful as you might imagine because the e-clutch still does a lot of heavy lifting for you with realizing it. The difference is very noticeable when you get on a fully manual bike.
