What does the $35 per month biy me.

I'm looking at a Bolt, and see there's a $35 monthly fee to connect my phone to the car. My current Chevy lets me play audio without the subscription, and let's me connect maps via Android Auto.

Here's the question -- what can and what cannot I do if I don't pay the monthly subscription?

Azure Synapse -- Trying to pass an 'Authorization: Bearer' to a RESTful api, can't get it to work

https://preview.redd.it/s73cn86b3yhh1.png?width=519&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb25b1ad190c2b601ad1aed26ecf4a715c0b48e7

So this is what my basic make-it-work setup looks like currently. The first call is successful. I get an access_token from it. So in step number two I want to pull data from the source using that access token. But I can't figure out how to attach it so that the source machine recognizes it for what it is. My setup is this --

https://preview.redd.it/8t3f7i1e3yhh1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=af50e3b01dc03d4297f279bc4e85647af3e41de1

It creates request, and it includes the access token in the Additional Headers section, like this --

{
"source": {
"type": "RestSource",
"httpRequestTimeout": "00:01:40",
"requestInterval": "00.00:00:00.010",
"requestMethod": "GET",
"additionalHeaders": {
"Token_Added": "Authorization: Bearer yf7VinFqG1UFjlYHeVq7v-bbU3U03ulSK1IjN-IJKHpDCbopDQU1bBY3Kdji_oUsY8arzqiFTwpfWreBp7scHg"
},
"paginationRules": {
"supportRFC5988": "true"
}
},
"sink": {
"type": "DelimitedTextSink",
"storeSettings": {
"type": "FileServerWriteSettings"
},
"formatSettings": {
"type": "DelimitedTextWriteSettings",
"quoteAllText": true,
"fileExtension": ".txt"
}
},
"enableStaging": false
}

The token is being included. But it has the "additionalHeaders" wrapper around it and the "Token_Added" title on the particular header item, that I don't want to put there but can't leave blank.

The machine at the destination provided by the Data Source issues an error --

"Failure happened on 'Source' side. ErrorCode=RestCallFailedWithClientError,'Type=Microsoft.DataTransfer.Common.Shared.HybridDeliveryException,Message=Rest call failed with client error, status code 401 Unauthorized, please check your activity settings.\nRequest URL: https://api.usix.postur.cloud/api/v2/users . \nResponse: {\"message\":\"No authentication bearer token specified in authorization header.\",\"code\":\"authentication.required\",\"status\":401 . . . .

So it's not capturing the access_toke

Has anyone done this successfully? I can GET or POST, though I can't get either to work for because of this same issue. I found an example on the Internet that in theory works, but it's with an older version of Synapse with a different set of options for the Copy command, so I can't duplicate it.

How do I send an authorization with the RESTful request? I'm open to other approaches.

Azure Synapse Connection Challenge

I have a problem getting Azure Synapse to connect to a data source. Can someone suggest which sub I should post it in? It keeps getting removed from here. There is a r/AzureSynapseAnalytics sub and a r/AzureSynapse sub, but they have four members combined.

Where do y'all go for help when you have a tricky problem?

AC turned on anyway?

So I'm cruising down the road, minding my own business.

It wasn't too hot outside so in spite of the temp being set to 72 I turned off the AC. The fan went really high as the car warmed up, which makes sense when it's set to automatic, so I turned it down.

Then the AC turned on.

Is there a "look, it's too damn far away from 72" override in the car that turns on the AC if the car's interior gets too warm?

PSA -- That foam in your LRR tires can come loose.

Don't know where else to put this because I don't think Low-Roll-Resistance tires have their own sub. But I know they go onto a lot of electric cars for the obvious reasons.

I have Goodyear ElectricDrives and my car, and it developed a vibration at highway speed that I just couldn't diagnose. Balanced the tires, no fix. Checked the suspension, no problems. It just seemed like a tire balance issue . . . changed when I rotated the tires, varied based on tire pressure . . .

My mom & pop mechanic finally figured out that the foam inside one of the tires, which is supposed to kill noise, had come loose and was floating around inside the tire. They would balance it, put it back on the car, and it was unbalanced. Balance again, etc. The weight of that foam was enough to make for a very uncomfortable drive at 65mph. And frankly, it made me think I was going nuts.

So if you have a vibration that won't go away, and the tire balance isn't working out, have your guy crack that puppy open and see if the foam is loose down inside the tire. My guy just yanked it out and I'll be honest -- I don't hear the slightest bit of difference from that corner of the car.

Vibration over 60mph

So I had vibrations at higher speeds, had the wheels balanced three times, to no avail.

Then I had the front axles replaced, and they really needed it. The vibrations went away. Good news.

Now the vibration is back, above 60mph. I hate to balance the tires again, but jeeze.

I lowered the pressure in the tires and the vibration got much better, but still there. It seemed to get worse when I rotated the tires.

Do I balance the wheels again? The guy's starting to think I'm sweet on him.

I guess the question is this -- is there a Volt thing, a common problem that causes vibration over 60? Or do I just need to do the standard car stuff to try and iron it out. I'm due to take a long trip the end of the month and hope to have it ironed out by then. Don't want to spend a thousand dollars.

Is the Pause function broken on anybody else's Roku

About a month or two back the Pause feature on my Roku broke. It keeps proceeding with the paused show in the background, so that when I hit play it jumps forward to where I would have been without pausing.

Spitball an install price please.

I'm thinking about putting an offer in on a house that has 14 panels on the roof, and that's all I can find out so far. I'm moving from renting to owning, and I'm trying to decide how much the install is worth. I'm in Maryland; the asking price on the house is $375,000. They are owned outright.

I realize this is very little to go on but the realtor cannot tell me the wattage, at least not yet. Is this more of a $10,000, $25,000, or $50,000 level of cost to put on? I can buy another place and install myself of course, but getting an idea of how much this adds to the value would be . . . valuable.

**Update** -- thank you all! A 2024 install so they're quite new. I drive an electric so the solar means cheap fuel too, and with the price of electricity going up in PJM it's a really nice benefit. May install a battery to go with it. Average electric bill has been $35 according to the docs with the house.

The house is in great shape. I wish the garden was too!

I've had the car two years now. Just to review, synthetic oil. That's it, right? Don't need any other special instructions?

Sirius/XM is back on in my Volt!

Just got an email saying that Sirius has been re-enabled in my Volt!

I need to decide if it's worth taking the time to figure out how to turn it on.

Why do I get to cheat?

I just signed up for Dan Wang's Breakneck through my library, that reciprocates with other libraries in my state. (Though I will mention that you can't add two Maryland county libraries into Libby. All feed to "Maryland Digital Library") It says I'm #4 in line, 3 copies in use, 19 people waiting, 6 people per copy.

Does this mean I'm really #19, i.e., 4th in line on in one of the queues for a single copy of the book? The math would work, but feels hokey. Seems to me it should tell me I'm 19th in line for a book with 3 copies.

Or do they just really like me a lot and let me up in front of 15 other people? Their guess is a two week wait, which sure sounds like I ain't #19! That's a lot of cheating.

196 Beverley Street

Just a quick snappy of your house, probably around 1909.

Taken before that pesky tree was there. My grandmother (likely the small child in the photo) was born in this house in 1907.
