Interested in trading for 944

Hey all, I am currently an owner of a 2006 Audi a4 6 speed wagon and I am considering a trade for a 1986 944 base. I am super interested as I love these cars and have wanted to own one. I am also depending less on my car as I have started taking public transport into work so it’s an excuse to get a more fun car, especially because I have another wagon to take my partner and kid around in. Mostly looking for advice on reliability, what to look out for when checking the car out, and if it seems like a good trade. My Audi is pretty rare, I’d be afraid to not find another one, but this deal seems too cool to pass up. My last worry is that apparently the belt was put on too tight after a replacement and is whining at startup but goes away when driving. I’d imagine having to replace that asap

Muffler delete vs hfc

Hey all, I have a nearly stock b7 a4 2.0t and I’m looking for an exhaust as the stock one is practically silent (to me) and I am looking for something with a little more grunt that will not drive me nuts in my stop and go commute. I have landed on a muffler delete or a high flow cat, the muffler delete is super quiet and I’m sure would be okay, but I was curious if anyone had any experience with hfc on a stock exhaust. I’m mainly wondering about low rpm drone or it being way too loud as my son is 11 months and I don’t want to hurt his ears on long drives. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks

Knock sensor and misfire cyl 2

Hey all, I have a 2.0t b7 a4, it recently had a p0333 bank 2 knock sensor code, it went away in its own but has now returned with a cyl 2 misfire code as well. I’m wondering if it could be possible that pcv could cause this,as I know mine needs replacing, just waiting on the part in the mail, or any parts of the ignition system. I will swap coils and sparks around when I get home today but was just hoping anyone had any as.

Fitting 245/45/18 on b7 a4

Hey all, I picked up a set of a3/tt 18in peelers with giant 245/45/18 tires on them. When trying to fit them, they were touching the upper control arm, I’m buying a set of spacers to try to get them to clear, as the 54 offset is way to low. Please let me if anyone has been able to fit this size, or the most agressive setup you’ve ran so I can compare on a fitment calculator.

p0011 code

hey all, i’m getting a p0011 code on my 2006 2.0t avant that comes on and off, it will come up for a day or two, then go away for a while. I’ve bought a new n205 valve but i honestly can’t tell if my car is making noise from the chain, or if i’m just freaking myself out. I’m going to put in the new n205 but i’d just like advice on if i should just get the rear timing done asap

Stop and start traffic

Hey all, I am a somewhat new manual driver (3-4 months) and I commute from Oakland to San Francisco and coming over the bay bridge I run into the worst stop and go traffic going through the toll. I normally can’t even let the clutch out all the way before the car in front comes to a stop. Obviously this is less than ideal for my clutch but is there any tricks I can do to make it a little better?

Career in Maintenance

Hey all, I lucked into a great junior maintenance tech position in a private school in sf bay area. I really like it but just wanting to hear from others in the field what career advancement looks like in the field in comparison to going into a union apprenticeship or a similar route. I really do enjoy what i do, I like the broad scope of projects i get to work on but just wanting to hear how others have moved up or built up their careers as my other option is applying into the union

wheel hopping?

Hey all, my 328i wagon feels like it is wheel hopping or bottoming out really bad when i accelerate hard or go up a steep hill. there is nothing noticeable during regular driving, but it’s making me worried. I’m going to replace rear shocks soon, just need to get new hardware and bushings to install with the new shocks but while i’m down there is there anything to look out for other than blown shocks that could be causing this?

Local 332 interview

Hey all, I have my interview for an apprenticeship at local 332 next thursday. I’m currently a maintenance tech and have limited experience with electrical but familiar with working with my hands. Any advice on what to say, what not to say, anything you would change when taking your own interview? I have looked over the questions but just want to hear from others who have passed the interview and got in.

2021 hyundai elantra blowing white smoke

Hey all, so on a long drive home last night my 2021 Hyundai Elantra started shooting thick white smoke out of the exhaust but it was initially only under brief acceleration and then would stop. When I was almost few blocks from home it did the same thing but it lurched forward really hard then blew smoke out of the rear but it didn’t stop for a long time. i was under the impresssion it was a head gasket, but there’s not that much coolant being used up and no overheating after a 2-3 hour drive

New to me b7 a4 avant

Hey all I just bought this 6mt b7 for 2500 as a first manual car to learn on from a friends dad. It runs perfectly, i know he’s been good about maintaining it but it has 198000 miles. This is my first audi, and i’ve completely fallen in love. How long do these b7 ea113 cars last when well maintained? I want this to be my forever car and just want to see if there are any other high milage b7 a4 guys here

220m wheels with 275/35/19 tires

hey all, i have a set of 220m wheels laying around that need new rear tires to put on my wagon but im thinking that due to agressive offset on the 220m wheels (19x9.5 et23) will rub with a bigger 275 tire in the rear. my car is on completely stock non sport suspension though so just wondering if anyone has any experience with agressive setups on stock ride hight.

Sell/part out 335i

Hey all, my 335i has just blown a rod bearing and had a tire blow out on me in the same week so i’m trying to decide to part out the car or just sell it for cheap on facebook. There’s a lot of decent parts on it like stock cats, black interior, active autowerks bov, comes w downpipes not installed, index 12. I know that I could make more money parting it out, but I don’t have a good spot to do so and I don’t have enough time as I have a 6 month old son at home. All I need to break even is 2.2k do you think it would sell at that price or should I just figure out how to part it out.

Just got this chinese cooler valve from bevinsee .com. I wanted to let you guys all know as its honestly pretty awesome. For 50 bucks or the price of just the valve from bms, I got both a plate to replace the factory one, and a new cooler valve. Temps sit right at 210 at normal driving, and for me in 60f weather, warm up time was only slightly longer. But for those of you who don’t want to spend a lot of money, but are tired of sitting at 240f this is a great upgrade for the price.

hey i’m building a 2008 335i on a pretty tight budget and i have around 300 extra dollars to spend on some modifications/preventative maintenance on my car. is an upgraded thermostat worth it? i’m between buying that, or putting my money to get all the things needed to be mhd tuned but the turner upgraded thermostat is on sale right now and i’d be interested in purchasing that also. I’m also planning on buying mickey mouse, crank seal guard, and ngk sparks soon but just wanting to know if anyone has had a good experience running upgraded thermostat.
