This is in my bestie's top 5, and I had never seen it (except for a couple scenes). Definitely a more shlocky horror movie. It was decent, but I am also not a big zombie movie fan. I am excited I finally got to hear the line that inspired the song "Spooky" by God Module.
I wanted to share a tradition some friends and I started the beginning of 2025.
It started when I got the idea to watch every movie referenced in the song, "Science Fiction, Double Feature" from Rocky Horror Picture show. To make it more interesting, I put the movies into a picker wheel, and let it choose for us. We also gave the movies the MST3K treatment, and riffed on them.
We watched all the movies in 3 gatherings.
Since then we've met up 4 additional times (soon to be 5) for movie marathons that are now mostly horror or sci-fi horror. Food, riffing, and now tradition...The Wheel.
The rules are:
Movies have to be B movies, shlocky, or at the very least easy to riff.
Nothing longer than 1.5 hours (so we can fit more in).
Our themes since the first one have been:
-Shlocky B Movie Horror.
-Holiday Horror.
-Valentine's Horror.
-Horror that came out the year we were born.
It been going on nearly 2 years now and makes me so happy.

I am not usually a fan of Cosmic Horror, but this one I enjoyed. It was good pacing and had parts the were difficult to watch, not because of anything "scary", but because of the moral dilemma they raised.

This movie was unhinged, but a fun watch (even though there were parts I had to turn away from and a whole scene I straight up couldn't watch). Slasher with lore. A gruesome twist on the classic fairytale.
Last year I watched at least one horror movie everyday in October, and I am going to attempt to do it again. Most of what I watch will be stuff I've never seen before. Hope it's okay to share my journey here. Here are days 1-4.
Evil Follows: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was fine. Standard demonic possession plot, and felt like a repetition of other movies that use similar tropes. Nothing groundbreaking, and predictable at times. The ending is definitely what pushed it to a 3.
Ragebait: ⭐️⭐️✨️ This was basically V/H/S, but with internet videos. The frame narrative was pretty decent, and the last video was probably the best one. Other than that, it was a bit too gorey for me (I don't have a problem with gore, just not my flavor horror).
The Bananna Splits: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am not really a slasher fan, so it's rare I like them. This was one of those times. Also....Schrödinger's Wand.
Lockbox: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Slow burn with Hereditary vibes. Really enjoyed it.

AITA for not wanting to go to my dad's surprise 75th birthday party?
I (43NB) found out from sister (41F) that our stepmother is throwing a surprise party for our dad's 75th bday. Neither of us has a relationship with our stepmother as she was abusive to us growing up. Our dad was passive about the abuse, denied it, and/or outright ignored that it was happening. He also constantly tries to force us to have a relationship with his wife (not as much now).
Earlier this year my Dad said some really hurtful things regarding the abuse I went through, and I told him I needed space. He continued to constantly text me and then got angry when I didn't respond.
My stepmother texted my sister and brother in law, separately, about the party on the same day (note: in order to get my BiL's number, she had to go into my dad's phone). When I texted my stepmother and asked why I wasn't included she said I was "on the list" and she had been dealing with personal stuff. So she can tell one of his kids (and that kid's husband), but not take 10 extra seconds to also text his other kid?
Our dad has constantly put his step kids and even step grand children above his blood relations. He has no relationship with my niece and nephew
So, AITA for not wanting to go to this party?

I recently came across a post in another McElroy Subreddit where several people were talking about how much Justin hates doing the podcast and always sounds miserable. The vibe of this subreddit seems to be.....very negative. Like all the posts do nothing but bash the brothers and complain. Now, I am fairly new to Reddit, so I am still learning the vibe/social read of different subreddits. I am not sure if this is meant to be ironic, unironic, /uj, or if this is just a subreddit made for complaining.
Anyway, I digress...,
I am curious if this take is accurate at all or just a bunch of people missing jokes, misreading the tone, etc. A few reasons I think maybe I am missing something (cause to me he seems fine) are.....
I started listening to MBMBaM in 2017, and maybe Justin started becoming "miserable" before that, so to me this is just his normal.
I am diagnosed Autistic, and often misunderstand or misread tone.
I am the eldest as well, and to me his tone is completely reasonable and normal because it's more similar to me than I realize /hj.
Anyway, just curious what others think!

Red dress was my PC (Lady Tiffany Ballard, a Noble).
The blue was my penitent (angry mob person) NPC. We all had to take at least one adversary shift (I also did a shift as an undead).

Okay, I know I am going to get a lot of flack for this, as I've seen it regarded as one of the best FF movies, but....

Thing is, I am not really a fan of religious horror movies. It's a trope that rarely does anything for me. As a practicing Pagan I also wasn't a fan of them depicting Pagans as evil baby sacrificing monsters. There's enough misinformation about Pagans and Witches going around, and to me it's tiresome. Finally as someone who works with kids, the baby sacrificing was a big no for me.
I get it's just a movie, but we all have reasons for why we don't like something.
I didn't hate it. It was definitely more fleshed out than a lot of FF I've seen. I just didn't think it was the amazing masterpiece it was made out to be.
Marble Hornets and Backrooms (the OG) have been recommended to me a bunch, but I recently learned they are "Analog Horror". I only recently came across this term in this Reddit.
Can someone explain to me, like I'm a toddler, what the difference between Found Footage and Analog Horror is?

Currently in the Week of Joy after my 4th Drachenfest. This one meant a lot to me particularly because I created the biggest prop I've ever brought to a LARP (the Fae Wylds mushroom garden). I have been engaging in experimental alchemy the past couple years regarding fae mushrooms, and went all out with props this year (even creating a book of information).
I have aphantasia, meaning I can't picture things in my head, so for this to come out just as I planned and "envisioned" makes me so happy and proud!

From my first LARP of 2026. This was my first time at this LARP (Rift Wars in MA) and first time playing this character.
Her name is Adeline, and she is a doll construct. During game she gave out gold star stickers to folks for things like; doing a good sword job, wearing a lot of red, having a flower crown, and having a neat name.
This was my 6th AEW PPV (and second time seeing MJF win the belt). Absolutely electrifying from start to finish. Crowd was constantly on their feet. So much fun!
One really subtle thing was MJF coming out in a robe matching Hana Kimuras ring gear as 5/23 was the anniversary of her death.
