Here is my OC: Konari “Kona” Delmare
Konari “Kona” Delmare
Epithet: “Silver Squall”
A reference to his speed, wind-based movement, and the silver jewelry he insists on wearing despite how often it ruins his stealth.
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Birthplace: Coral Thread Isles, East Blue
Affiliation: Recurring ally of the Straw Hat Pirates
Occupation: Scout, Cartographic Assistant, Small-Time Info Broker, Storm Scout
Bounty: 67,000,000 berries
Devil Fruit: Nagare Nagare no Mi
A Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows Kona to redirect and manipulate existing flows.
Rather than creating massive storms or becoming wind itself, Kona can subtly control currents in the environment, including:
wind
smoke
steam
dust
scent
sound vibration
air pressure
He uses this power to reduce air resistance, move quietly, redirect projectiles, stir up distractions, muffle footsteps, and create sudden gusts to knock enemies off balance.
However, the fruit has strict limits. Kona is strongest in active environments with moving air, smoke, dust, or pressure changes. He struggles in sealed rooms, underwater, or places with completely still air.
Appearance
Kona stands about 5’11” with a lean build, lightly tanned skin, shaggy auburn-brown hair, and stormy blue-gray eyes. He wears a linen bandana, loose white trousers, a sleeveless teal vest embroidered with silver wind-symbols, leather sandals, and several pieces of silver jewelry.
Around his neck is a silver pendant shaped like a tiny weather vane, a keepsake from his home. He carries a foldable spyglass, waterproof map scrolls, and a collapsible staff hidden inside his map case.
His silver jewelry is also the source of a recurring gag: Kona can sneak almost perfectly, only for a tiny jingle to give him away, usually earning a silent glare from Nami.
Personality
Kona is shrewd, quick-witted, observant, and lightly smug. He is an opportunist, but not heartless. He respects intelligence, skill, loyalty, and freedom.
He enjoys verbal sparring, especially with Nami, and often hides genuine concern behind dry jokes. Though he acts laid-back, he is constantly reading the room, watching exits, tracking airflow, and judging whether a situation is profitable or dangerous.
He has one odd habit: he refuses to drink from a mug unless he knows whether the cup has “bad current energy.”
When Nami calls him ridiculous, Kona replies:
“Bad water kills more sailors than cannonballs.”
Backstory
Kona was born in the Coral Thread Isles, a storm-heavy archipelago in the East Blue known for reefs, violent weather, and difficult sea routes.
His family ran a modest cartography shop and created highly accurate nautical charts for local sailors and merchants. One day, his family produced the only accurate storm-route map of the Coral Thread Isles.
A corrupt Marine officer, Commodore Veyr “Black Barometer” Malkin, stole the map, sold it to smugglers, and used it to manipulate trade routes. When fishing ships were destroyed because of the stolen route, Malkin blamed Kona’s family.
The Delmare name became associated with betrayal and disaster.
Kona fled after a failed infiltration attempt against a Marine outpost, carrying only stolen notes, partial maps, and his family’s weather-vane pendant. Since then, he has survived as an info broker, scout, and map thief.
His dream is not only to chart the world’s hidden currents and discover the legendary “Invisible Winds,” but also to prove that maps are meant to save people, not exploit them.
Role in the Story
Kona is not a Straw Hat Pirate, but a recurring ally.
He may appear for one saga, disappear, reunite with the crew later, and occasionally assist through his information network.
His most natural arc role is helping the Straw Hats infiltrate a government-controlled weather archive containing erased sea routes, forbidden maps, and records of islands removed from official charts.
This allows him to work closely with Nami, Robin, and Usopp without overshadowing the main crew.
Abilities
Flow Manipulation:
Uses the Nagare Nagare no Mi to redirect environmental currents, air pressure, smoke, dust, and sound vibration.
Scout and Infiltrator:
Excellent at sneaking, gathering intel, stealing maps, and escaping Marine attention.
Cartography:
Highly skilled at reading, copying, restoring, and interpreting maps.
Current Tracking:
Specializes in hidden currents, atmospheric streams, unusual winds, and dangerous weather routes.
Navigation Support:
Kona is not Nami’s equal as a navigator.
Nami is the genius navigator and weather reader.
Kona is the scout, infiltrator, map thief, and current tracker.
Observation Haki:
Beginning stage. He can sense subtle movement, airflow, and nearby threats, helping him avoid ambushes.
Armament Haki:
Barely developed and not reliable in combat.
Fighting Style
Kona avoids direct fights. He relies on movement, misdirection, and environmental control.
He uses gusts, dust, smoke, sound shifts, and sudden pressure changes to create openings. His collapsible staff is used for fast, precise strikes rather than brute force. He also carries small throwing knives for cutting ropes, puncturing sails, or distracting guards.
He works best as support, creating chances for stronger allies to land decisive blows.
Weapons
Collapsible Staff:
A lightweight staff hidden in his map case.
Throwing Daggers:
Small knives used for utility, distractions, and precision cuts.
Spyglass and Map Tools:
Used for scouting, navigation, and infiltration.
Weaknesses
Limited Power Scale:
He cannot create hurricanes or massive storms.
Environmental Dependence:
His Devil Fruit is much weaker in still air, sealed spaces, or underwater.
Physical Vulnerability:
He is not built for heavy close combat.
Overconfidence:
He sometimes trusts his own cleverness too much.
Attachment to Nami:
His concern for Nami can make him reckless.
Silver Jewelry Gag:
His jewelry often betrays his stealth at the worst possible moment.
Relationships
Nami:
Kona’s closest ally and subtle romantic interest. Their bond is built on maps, weather, treasure, infiltration, and mutual respect. Their dynamic includes light flirtation, shared drinks, private jokes, teasing arguments, lingering glances, and moments of protecting one another.
Their relationship remains understated and does not override Nami’s independence.
Straw Hat Pirates:
Kona is friendly with the crew but not a member. Luffy calls him “the sneaky wind guy.” Robin values his knowledge of forbidden maps. Usopp enjoys his scouting tricks. Jinbe respects his understanding of currents. Zoro remains cautious but acknowledges his usefulness.
Commodore Veyr “Black Barometer” Malkin:
Kona’s personal enemy. A corrupt Marine officer who stole his family’s map, ruined the Delmare name, and used cartography as a weapon of control.
Dream
Kona wants to chart the world’s hidden currents and discover the “Invisible Winds,” legendary atmospheric streams said to lead to unreachable islands and lost treasures.
More importantly, he wants to restore his family’s honor and prove that maps should be tools of freedom, survival, and discovery—not control, exploitation, or corruption.
