Now is the time to introduce UBI

Jobs are being replaced by AI at an accelerating rate, and people have nowhere to go to earn income. Monetary flows are still massive, but they just don't reach the people at the bottom. I think UBI is very appropriate in this situation. Or who will buy the groceries?

But in all seriousness, we are moving towards ab economy where UBI will be real because AI and robots handle all the low level tasks, so UBI can be distributed in the form of a small amount of necessary goods such as food, basic supplies etc. So we can start slowly testing the waters and now seems to be a good time.

The importance of the esoteric in natural science

I am having a somewhat esoteric evening tonight so here goes the second post.

Some people don't know this, but the origins of science are actually deeply esoteric. For example Newton came up with his famous Law of Universal Gravitation by thinking about angelic forces pulling the planets together. The first hunches of the fact that the cosmos doesn't revolve around earth was intuited by the Pythagoreans by thinking about musical harmony in the cosmos.

A big problem in science today is that it's becoming extremely flat. A lot of scientists say that nothing radically new was discovered for a while, since Einstein's General Theory of Relativity(GTR) and Quantum Physics(some of the pioneers of which had esoteric inclinations), so for about a century maybe. Sure, a lot of the important gaps have been filled and important technology was produced, but it seems like ontologically science hasn't progressed much in the past century.

And novelty in science necessarily comes from rethinking the ontology. Einstein's General Theory of Relativity isn't a mere continuation of Newton's ideas, it is a radically new conceptualisation of space, time, and gravity. In GTR a completely new ontology was developed. This is why btw AI can't produce new science, it interpolates on the manifold of data, it cannot create genuine novelty.

The esoteric spirit has been gradually leaving science, but what was its importance? The esoteric provided a possibility of a deeper ontology than the purely material, objective, or empirical. It imbued life with forces beyond ordinary and enriched the lived experience and the world around people. There are plenty more examples other than Newton and Pythagoras(feel free to share yours in the comments), but the idea is very clear - the esoteric allowed us to see deeper into reality than ever.

Naturally, contemporary science, philosophy and worldview is getting critised a lot; there is certainly also a meaning crisis. Hence I expect that we will return to the esoteric in some form which will allow us to advance science substantially.

Thank you for reading.

Our traumatised world

I have spent a lot of time in the past year trying to find a community of people that would share my interests and values. Throughout my life I have been lucky to live in places where people are warm and welcoming, where everyone wants to communicate with each other and grow, discuss ideas, experience new things. The happiest moments of my life were filled with creativity and collaboration. Be it building something together or simply sharing stories and laughing.

For the past few years, I have been living in a very alinated environment, even though its a megapolis. I had had more fun and joy living in a village back in the day than I have now living in a huge city. I have realised this problem a long time ago and wanted to transform this into something great. I tried to build communities and even startups that would solve this problem.

I can see that people on the internet are longing for a community. People are talking more and more about living together in tribes or even just connecting online. I can see that people are hurt and they want to get closer with each other. But time and time again, as I tried to open up to people, they would close off, either quickly or slowly, but eventually they would hide back in their bubble. This is kind of like that hedgehog dilemma from NGE - we want to be close, we want to love, but the closer we get the stronger it hurts.

We live in a world where we have very tight relationships with each other, everything is intertwined. Teachers, doctors, engineers, builders, policemen, accountants, shop assistansts, waiters... We are in constant communication and connection with each other, and yet we don't feel a thing for one another. We don't really care for another person's pain, we don't care about their fears and desires. We don't experience love for each other.

And that is only a part of the story. Human suffering is so much greater than this. Constant wars, starvation. Our society is manipulated only to serve a corrupt few.

But I am optimistic.

The cosmos has been evolving, from energy to particles to atoms to molecules to life to psyche and consciousness and finally to humans and self-reflexive consciousness, where the cosmos gets the capacity to learn about itself.

And I think that the next step in our evolution is the unification of consciousness. How can we live so close with each other in the same world and yet be completely ignorant of other's feelings? Be completely alienated from each other. But if we somehow could feel the other person's pain, sorrow, happiness and joy, then would develop the capacity to care for them, just like we care for ourselves, to love them.

And someone, around two thousand years ago said, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it."

Christ was a rebel. He consciously and willingly went to die on a cross to fight for our values, to fight for humanity, to fight for love. He could've backed out, save his life, but he chose to suffer. He chose to fight against the system of artificial value. For all of us. He showed us that we can live in a world imbued with love and meaning. He showed that is possible to love and care rather than fight with each other.

I don't believe that our world was ever created. I believe that it is still in creation. I believe that the trauma that humans live through collectively is what will drive us towards our destiny, towards love, towards the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Yes, I believe that the Kingdom of Heaven was always meant to happen here, on Earth, if only we could thrive towards it.

I have not been able to find a community that would share my values. I see how people are suffering everyday and dying in wars they do not want to fight. But I believe in people. I can see that people want to love, only that it's painful. People are slowly waking up from a sleepless dream, from a halluciation. They are becoming more conscious and more willing to create meaningful change. And the more we try the closer we get, and the better our world becomes.

I belive in a bright future for all of us. Where we don't have to fight meaningless wars. Where we can't be manipulated by a corrupt few who want to rule the world. I belive in the world where service to others is no less important than service to myself. I believe in a world filled with love. I await the creation of the world - Heaven on Earth.

I want to create or join a startup in an interesting field[consciousness and psychology]

TLDR: Startup in consciousness and psychology, background: mathematics and quant finance, interest in consciousness, psychology, and philosophy. Also open to other suggestions
As AI is developing very quickly, I believe that a lot of low level tasks will soon be managed by AI, anything from routine software/analytics to material/engineering/agriculture. This in turn I believe will create a sort of UBI, where the basic needs are more available to people.

But the economy will have to transition to a new state, something that represents the qualitiateve difference between humans and machines. I have good reason to believe that this lies in creativity, consciousness, psychology, etc. The high level view of the arguement is that AI is architecturally an interpolative mechanism, and there is nothing on the horizon to improve this, it is incapable of producing genuine novelty. But humans have demonstrably been producing novelty throughout history.

In short, I anticipate that the economy will restructure around consciousness and psychology. And I want to start working on something related now.

My background:
I have academic training in mathematics and realtively deep expertise in quantitative finance/markets as a science.

But I have a very deep interest in consciousness, psychology, philosophy, history, art etc. So much so that is has shaped my worldview no less than my professional domains.

I'm looking to partner with people who are interested in working in this field and developing a product. This could be anything from EdTech, Medicine, Biotech, or even entertainment.
I would both be willing to joing a startup and to start my own with partners.

I really value collaboration, and it is very important to me to partner with the right person, I wouldn't like to do this on my own.

Inferno sounds oddly familiar

it feels like i’ve heard all the music from the album before. this is not a criticism, just an observation. and it’s not really deja vu, because deja vu usually fades when you revisit the same episode or memory. it is a very persistent feeling that i’ve been listening to this album for a decade already.

I hold an opinion that while ai isn't consciousness, it can tap into elementals and egregores and enact them in human consciousness, sometimes without them even realising it. having a collection of our greatest and most influential stories and myths it has an enormous potential for development and investigation of psychology and consiousness.

on a practical level, we could try to see how we can develop pscychology and consciousness with ai and see what problems we can solve. maybe gateway type stuff with ai assistance. also self therapy is absolutely possible and while ai isn't conscious it can be a great tool for introspection. it's difficult to do self therapy because you often feel stuck and don't know where to go next, ai could sort of kick you in the right direction but then your psyche would actually do the physics, the psychology, the consciousness. this tool could help develop consciousness in people who are interested.

this could be taken way beyond ai therapy. ai could help us harness imagination create new worlds with it, much like people with aphantasia can now "visualise" with image generation technology.

I think it's important for this project to be able to think phenomenologically and metaphysically, not just the way we are normally used to. psyche is a whole space in and of itself, with its own rules and logic. while it can be modelled with matter and neuroscience, there is a whole other dmension of interaction with the psyche from phenomenal experience and reason(to then the experiences).

So happy BOC is back. And it’s amazing that they’re doing the listening shows. I was even kind of tracking the news around the new release. I was one of the first people to listen to Tape 05 and it was so incredible, like a new hope. So idk how I missed it. I was sort of waiting for this moment since I was 13 and it just slipped by. It’s one of the few things that I really care about ⬡
