Making a Villain Not Bound by Time
Hey so I’m working on a fantasy story where the main villain is this cosmic horror entity that was once a mostly regular person but is now an evil Lovecraftian entity who exists in an artificial semi universe at some of the highest levels of reality, beyond almost all time, space, matter, reality etc. He/it projects a physical avatar to interact with lower levels of reality such as our own with various things allowing him to “exist more” here and allow his avatar/appendage to become more “accurate” to how he actually is. And basically I am running into the issue of how I write an entity/character who is not bound by time, who experiences the past, present, future and more simultaneously, how does he manage to ever be surprised or out planned etc. although I have come to the conclusion that while in truth due to him now being a Lovecraftian entity with thought processes far beyond anything we could even begin to ever understand, what ever personality he/his avatar shows is simply one chosen to most accurately represent his own personality even if massively simplified and seemingly contradictory from our/the character’s POV.
