I'm turning 22, socially incompetent, and I feel like I'm a complete failure. What should I do?

I finished high school 4 years ago and have been studying at a pretty good university in my country, but I still feel like I'm lagging behind everyone I know, both socially and career-wise.

My friends have an easy time finding connections, internships, joining competitions that are related to our degree, yet all I do is study, go home, and mess around with friends. I feel like I don't put enough effort into my career or network.

Part of why I don't put effort into these things is that I feel that I'm a naturally unlikeable person, I imagine that if I were to go to conferences and try to meet new people, most of them would just ignore me or not give a damn about me. So I just never rarely leave my comfort zone, because if I did I'd just be putting myself and everyone through a bad and, frankly boring time.

I try really hard to be more outgoing, to relate to people better, and be more calm around new people, yet I always fail miserably. I either end up letting someone else that is with me take the lead, or just not do anything.

I sometimes think that I am perhaps destined to live a miserable life. I'm a social disaster, I can't talk, I can't have fun, yet I feel like my inner world is so full and I like to read and think a lot. But whenever I'm with people the light inside me just turns off and I become the dullest person imaginable.

As much as I try to take a step back and analyze my behaviours with people, I ultimately revert to old habits of being quiet and dull and unlikeable

My close friend sabotaged everything and then made fun of me

So last February this girl (20F) sent me (21M) a message and told me she wanted to be friends, let's call her F. I accepted and we got along very well, and then she told me that her friend who we'll call B (20F), was interested in me and that I should talk to her. I did and we got along VERY well, but we only kept on texting and calling because B lives very far away and we couldn't meet up until school starts.

In the mean time, I also got very close with F and I thought I might have found a best friend in her. I told her everything and she told me everything and I feel like I would've taken a bullet for her.

Anyways, back to the present. Yesterday I sent a message to B asking her if we should go out, since she came like a week ago and we already planned it. She told me "No, I actually talked with F". I didn't know what she meant and when I asked her she explained it.

F told B a secret about me, and if anyone wants to know the secret just ask me in the comments, but this story is already getting long.

When I confronted F about it in messages, she told me I was overreacting and it wasn't such a big deal, and she sent me voice messages with her friends in the dorm laughing and saying that I was making a big deal out of nothing. And when I told her she was being immature she turned defensive and started saying that we shouldn't be friends anymore then. So I blocked her.

But then I cried so hard man, it was unbearable. I feel like everything that happened this summer was wasted. I lost a person I thought would be a lifelong friend and a girl I really loved. I just feel like things never seem to go right for me, something always has tm happen to ruin everything. I try to be grateful to what I have, but when something like this happens it just makes me doubt whether I should even try to be happy.

I mainly wanted to rant, but your views of the matter will help me a lot. Thank youu!

21M I want a hairstyle that I used to have but can't figure out how to get it anymore.

First picture is what I used to have. I had a a haircut like 2 months before I took this photo and a trim a couple of weeks before, but the barber I got it from died 😭 RIP. I forgot what I told him I just think he did the lord's work all on his own.

And then I couldn't for the life of me get it back. I tried everything but I still miss that look. I'm going tomorrow to a new barber so please tell me what I should tell them. Thank you!

I want to grow my hair but everytime I get a haircut, it starts looking bad a few weeks later.

I don't have pics of me immediately after getting a haircut, but anyways:

  1. My hair 2 weeks after getting a haircut, I asked for some layers and I think she did a good job, I just think my hair looked atrocious that day, what do you think I should do?

  2. My hair 1 month after the haircut, I think it looked better here, other than the fact that it's a little frizzy

  3. My hair 2 months after the haircut, I don't know what happened but I really liked it, it wasn't super frizzy and it felt good on my head. But then I washed it again and was never able to make it look good again.

  4. So I got another haircut and asked the barber to remove the sides and leave the top, I wanted to try things out. But it turned out real bad and I also got sick so I don't really like how it looked on that pic.

Anyways, I'd love if you guys could give me any advice on what haircut I should ask for based on my face shape and all, some models to show my barber, and maybe some products I should use. Thank you!

Am I overreacting or are students treated like slaves during summer jobs?

I've found a summer job at the ZEN clothing shop in Algiers, and during my interview the employer clearly stated that I'll be working from 8:30 to 15:30 some days and from 15:00 to 22:00 on others for 28000 DA a month, with each friday being a day off.

I thought that was great! I can work and still have enough time to do many things I enjoy, like learning new stuff and going out, but it turned out I was too optimistic.

This past week I've been asked to work from 12pm to 22pm, and apparently my day offs aren't really day offs, they're just a "recuperation" from those additional hours that I'm working that I never planned on.

And the final straw was the fact that they asked us to work a full day shift from 8am to 22pm today (Friday) while I was planning to do some other stuff. Needless to say I didn't show up and I fully expect to get fired.

But I just feel like I'm doing way too much work for 28000 DA. I already worked at Mega Pizza before and they treated their employees just as poorly for just the same poor wage.

I know that this is Algeria and they can't afford to pay us generous amounts, but I'd be completely happy with my 28000 da if I just could follow the schedule I agreed upon previously with my employer.

What do you think?

Which hairstyle is better

I don't know which one I like the best.

I feel like I have a weak chin, so maybe something that exposes my forehead would make my face look more elongated and would therefore be better? I also have to admit that my forehead is pretty big!

I also would love any haircut and haircare tips you may have. Thank you!

I'm mad at my best friend and I don't know how to deal with it.

So I (20M) and my best friend (19F) have been really close for 2 years now. What I love most about my relationship with her is how authentic we both are, neither of us never had any romantic interest in the other yet we express our love for each other so freely and it feels really good.

Recently she told me her friend was interested in me, and that she wanted to date me. I was interested in her friend too so I got to know her more by text and we went on some kind of "dates" around campus, but I never actually asked her out which I think is my first mistake. Everytime we were together it all went really well but she could very well just see me as a friend.

I expressed my doubts to my bestie and she kept reassuring me that her friend likes me and is really interested in me. I believed her and I let myself get attached to this new girl knowing that when the time is right I'll just express my love (again, a big mistake from my part tbh)

Anyways my bestie came out of nowhere yesterday and told me that she wasn't actually sure all this time whether her friend liked me. She told me that all she knew was that she was physically into me, but nothing else was sure. I honestly got pretty mad at how she kept giving me false hopes, and now I don't know whether this madness is justified or whether she just wanted the best for me and wanted me to make a move on her friend...

I communicated my displeasure to her, and she completely dismissed it and said that I should just "move on". And then immediately after that she started talking about a new guy that she got really close to and was talking to that had the potential to be a new best friend to her 😭. I don't mind her having other friends but I just think the timing was kind of awkward, I feel like she should've helped me deal with my dissapointement a little more before telling me all about her new friend.

Anyways I understand this might all be in my head. Maybe I annoyed her with all the talk about her friend and she just wanted to talk about something lighter. I still really like her and I'll probably be over all this soon enough, but right now I'm feeling like shit. So any advice on how to deal with this situation would be welcome.

Thank you!

I have been feeling very ugly these past few days. What should I do?

I'm going to get braces for my teeth this week, so that's already one thing.

Started playing in January, how is my technique?

I know this is probably a little too advanced for my level, but I've been learning it for 2 days now and it feels really good 😅

I would like to know how good (or bad) my technique is, what areas I should focus on, any pieces that would help me improve better, and whether or not I should continue with this piece (I kind of want to tbh).

My hair is inconsistent, what should I do?

I feel like it looked good on those outdoors pictures, but now I just woke up and I hate how it looks and feels.

Here is my hair routine: I wash it every other day with shampoo, then put on some avocado hair mask, and then I blow dry it. I also sleep with a satin cushion which I heard wad beneficial, yet I don't see any real benefit to it.

I would love any advice on how to make it look better more consistently, keep in mind that I don't have enough money to buy a lot of products, but I may be able to buy a thing or two if I can be sure that it'll fix my problems.

THANK YOU!

Is this shirt too cropped?

I am definitely going for a cropped style, but I fear this shirt might just be too cropped to be actually fashionable. What do you think?

I feel like my hair is the best thing about me, so I'm trying to grow it out, yet it has finally reached the awkward phase. It's been a week straight of bad hair days...

Anyways, I know my hair can look really good if I keep it growing, but I don't know if it would match my small face and week chin. I would love some advice!
