Feels a little off

Tacticooling up my Armeggedon Intercessors, to give them a bit more Raptors personality, is usually pretty simple.

Dry fitting the Auspex guy together, and his chest computer (from the Scouts KT) is giving me a bit of trouble. I love the idea but something doesn't look right to me. Is it just that the bolt rifle sling in the way, or the fact that it covers more space on the chest than the pouches. It's having an "uncanny valley" effect on me for some reason and I can't figure it out.

Oil dot filter and rust

I've always had a soft spot for the Rhino. When I was with 1st Cav our Recon Plt had M113's, and I just loved those little bastards.

Earlier this year Cult of Paint did a "Super Heavy" painting challenge. Well I don't have a Baneblade, but I did have some Rhinos, somewhere.

I finally dug them out of a box and they got the Raptors treatment, in addition to my first attempt at an oil dot filter. My chief inspiration was the "Forge World Imperial Armour vol 9 - The Badab War". They hold up to this day, some amazing art in those books.

Wolf Scouts Wolf

Picked up the box mostly for the Frost-Eye (for my Lias Issadon conversion) but I just had to paint this good boy.

Half the squad

Halfway through the Armeggedon Intercessors. I always like to include a few Veterans in each squad; brothers who've been around since the Badab War. I wasn't 100% on the yellow helmets, but I've got to say it's growing on me.

Raptors on Armeggedon

Taking my time with the Armeggedon Intercessors. Swapping a few heads and some minor kitbashing. Making good headway. Pretty sure their Area of Operation is the Equitorial jungles, but going with the desert base to match the rest of my army.

Color test

Testing out a color palette for my Aeldari combat patrol. Mostly dark greys and blues with a dash of red for contrast.

Greyscale and chips

This grey scale picture from a recent convention's photo roll really spoke to me. All the little dings and chips really stand out without color.

Raptors Second Squad, 3rd Company Marksman.

Loved the pose on this one. Too rarely I see Marines with the bolter at shoulder level. GW really out did themselves with the sculpts in the Armeggedon box. Wanted more practice painting skin (I had an idea for hair stubble that I wanted to try) so I swapped out the push-fit helmed head. I don't remember where the it came from, but the great big monocle works well for a Veteran marksman.

Second squad, 3rd Company Sergeant.

Nothing fancy tonight, finally getting started on the Armeggedon box Intercessors. I'm a big fan of the pose. It almost feels like a return to the over the top silliness of "Old Hammer". Something (probably the humidity today) made the primer a little orange peely, but if anyone asks it's intentional to give the armor some texture. Ever look at a tank up close? It looks just like that.

Finished Combi-LT, along with another Eliminator

Twofer this evening. I usually paint one model at a time, but I've had this Eliminator on my desk for entirely too long. His entire right arm and stalker boltgun were built from sprue goo and bits I had left over from a previous Lias Issadon attempt. So while I waited for the oils to dry on the Combi-Lt I put some finishing touches on the Eliminator.

Decisions, decisions...

Should I add grave chutes to my Lias Issadon kitbash? Seems a simple choice, but is it?

Leviathan Combi-LT

Had to add a little extra to the LT. A guy working solo against the hive needs a silenced weapon.

Chest pouches

The cast with sprue goo test turned out pretty well. Anything that doesn't pass muster can just go back in the Tamiya bottle.

Land Speeder nearing completion

Just about finished with the Armeggedon box Land Speeder. Lots of fun doing this model. The Land Speeder was the first vehicle I painted waaaaay back when I was first starting out (back when it was cast in metal). Based on the pilot's helmet in the third picture...I may have been painting too many Mandalorians lately.

Fun times ahead

Though I'm looking in this box and seeing zero build instructions. The sprues don't look that complicated, but is that normal for Star Wars: Legion?

Edit: I found the thread with the link to the build instructions.

Jump Captain with Lightning Claws (Shrike proxy)

Alternate Captain for my Raptors' 3rd Company project. I carved about a cm from the bottom of the bunker so he doesn't stand quite as tall. That jump pack is quite large as it is. He stands as tall as Lias on a shorter base.

Beside "Rap"Tor Garradon he acts as an opposite example of the Raptors' methods of waging war. Light hit and run assaults vs. overwhelming firepower. My Raptors use the best tool for the job at hand.

Just a Las Fusil

Nothing special this morning. Just an Eliminator with a Las Fusil, but I am testing out a new camo pattern with Dark Reaper as the base.

Lias Issadon mostly complete.

After 4 different designs and 3 different bodies, my Lias Issadon conversion is ready for battle.

His main body is built from the Wolf Scouts Frost-eye. He's armed with his Omen pattern stalker bolter (Malice) and a simple power sword. The cloak, power pack, and servo skull came from the Captain in Phobos armor. The left shoulder of the cloak has had some minor sculpting, and was a simple adaptation for my first foray into green stuff.

The cloak does need a good camo pattern still and I'm open to suggestions.

His servo skull attendant keeps him connected to the battle with up to date intelligence to better coordinate with his troops in the field, or a quick game of Pong.

He's got the 3 service studded head from the Bladeguard Veterans to demonstrate his long service to the Imperium, and a Reiver helmet as he is known as "The Grim" afterall.

Lias WiP

Still very much a work in progress, but I've got most of the basic colors blocked in. The wolf scouts have mostly got leather gloves over their power armor. I dug through my old army kit and found the nomex gloves that we used. I think they'd fit the Raptors' "tacticool" aesthetic pretty well.
