The cast with sprue goo test turned out pretty well. Anything that doesn't pass muster can just go back in the Tamiya bottle.

Just about finished with the Armeggedon box Land Speeder. Lots of fun doing this model. The Land Speeder was the first vehicle I painted waaaaay back when I was first starting out (back when it was cast in metal). Based on the pilot's helmet in the third picture...I may have been painting too many Mandalorians lately.
Though I'm looking in this box and seeing zero build instructions. The sprues don't look that complicated, but is that normal for Star Wars: Legion?
Edit: I found the thread with the link to the build instructions.
Alternate Captain for my Raptors' 3rd Company project. I carved about a cm from the bottom of the bunker so he doesn't stand quite as tall. That jump pack is quite large as it is. He stands as tall as Lias on a shorter base.
Beside "Rap"Tor Garradon he acts as an opposite example of the Raptors' methods of waging war. Light hit and run assaults vs. overwhelming firepower. My Raptors use the best tool for the job at hand.
Nothing special this morning. Just an Eliminator with a Las Fusil, but I am testing out a new camo pattern with Dark Reaper as the base.
After 4 different designs and 3 different bodies, my Lias Issadon conversion is ready for battle.
His main body is built from the Wolf Scouts Frost-eye. He's armed with his Omen pattern stalker bolter (Malice) and a simple power sword. The cloak, power pack, and servo skull came from the Captain in Phobos armor. The left shoulder of the cloak has had some minor sculpting, and was a simple adaptation for my first foray into green stuff.
The cloak does need a good camo pattern still and I'm open to suggestions.
His servo skull attendant keeps him connected to the battle with up to date intelligence to better coordinate with his troops in the field, or a quick game of Pong.
He's got the 3 service studded head from the Bladeguard Veterans to demonstrate his long service to the Imperium, and a Reiver helmet as he is known as "The Grim" afterall.
Still very much a work in progress, but I've got most of the basic colors blocked in. The wolf scouts have mostly got leather gloves over their power armor. I dug through my old army kit and found the nomex gloves that we used. I think they'd fit the Raptors' "tacticool" aesthetic pretty well.
The moment I saw the Reave Captain and Corsair Raiders I knew I wanted to turn them into a killteam.
Killteam: [REDACTED], a "counts as" Alpha Legion - Angels of Death Killteam, includes:
- All 3 Leader roles (Captain and both Sergeants).
- A spare Intercessor and Assault Intercessor (with meltagun and power fist) because fun. They would run with the usual statline but look unique on the table.
- Assault and Aux grenadier; armed with a first born Deathwatch shotgun (size wise it looked better than an IG grenade launcher).
* The Heavy and Sniper need to be put on 40mm bases, but finished is better than perfect.
It was fun to get out of my wheelhouse a bit. Even with the True Metallics the shine can be knocked back a bit with some matte clear coat.
Killteam [REDACTED] is complete (for now). This was a really fun side project/distraction from my long term goal of a complete Raptors 3rd Company. It let me flex my creativity a bit since the only thing that really needed to be "uniform" was the armor color. The base color was also something of an inspired choice. The Turquoise really stands out against the rust of Mars.
Only one more operative remains to be completed for Killteam: [REDACTED]. I really wanted to use the chest rig from the Raiders kit, so here we are.
Next up we finally get to the Reave Captain!
Finished the Assault Intercessor sergeant. The fur was an interesting challenge. I wanted a color that would stand out against the turquoise armor without being too much. Went with a more subtle orange brown to complement the Ironcrust base.
The Intercessor w/ aux grenade launcher is waiting for his base to dry. A face only an Ork could love. Yes it's a shotgun from the old Deathwatch kit! Could it fire grenades? Probably, we're dealing with space shotguns after all. After this is the Sergeants and the Captain then Killteam: [REDACTED] is complete.
And boy did I find exactly what I've been looking for. The torso and arms from the Frost-eye, some Phobos Captain bits, and a head from the Bladeguard later and I've finally got a good looking base for Lias Issadon.
It still needs a bit of work, but I'm gonna let myself cook on this one and see where it goes.
Heavy and Intercessor Warrior added to the completion pile. The arms and bolter from the Legionaries kit didn't want to fit 100% with the torso and fought with me the whole time. He'll go on a 40mm base later but for now "finished is better than perfect".
The bolter with the belt was a bit easier, not without its own trials but we got there in the end.
The Aux grenade launcher is up next, and I've got something planned for him that should make him stand out on the table.
Give me a chain axe and I WILL put hazard stripes on it. Mostly completed assault intercessor (just needs a few things to dry before the base) to fill out Killteam: [REDACTED].
With the Reave Captain and the Raider kit there are two extra bodies. The melta Intercessor and the power fist assault Intercessor are there for completion's sake, and for the fun of it. They'll look unique on the table, even with the same stat line as their contemporaries.
Next up is the Heavy and the Intercessor with a few bits from the Chaos Legionaries. I've got something lined up for the Intercessor with Aux grenade launcher that should be fun and unique.
I mixed up a purple that better matches what I was thinking. After looking through Citadel paints online I think I matched the color of Warpfiend Grey pretty closely. Ended up going with Martian Ironcrust for the base with some rocks and dead tufts my gf found at Michael's.
Next up, I need to think of how I want to represent a bolt rifle with aux grenade launcher (without just using one from the Intercessors sprue). Maybe something with the Shotgun from the Scouts or Old Deathwatch kits.
Mostly done. I need to look around for a better purple that better matches what I had in my head. Closer to a grey with a hint of purple, rather than a "dusty" purple I guess. Still thinking about what to do for the base. Something like Martian sand might contrast well with the armor color.
Test model looks good. Maybe some Coelia Greenshade to pull the armor color back towards green. I cannot recommend these Vallejo True Metalics enough. Very smooth to apply. Still needs two thin coats for coverage, but doesn't split on a wet pallet.
Hydra Turquoise Base and Light arrived today. Finally going to get some paint on Killteam [REDACTED]!
