After a year of being closed, Gilchrist is back open and has shown its beauty like I’ve never seen. I wish every spring could get this treatment, I’m sure they all used to look like this at one point well before my time. Please if you decide to visit, treat it kindly.

This is my wife’s high school ride, we have had it 10 years now starting at 130k miles.

Things that have been replaced outside of typical maintenance-

All front suspension components, rear shock absorbers, all hubs, fuel pump, Alternator, power steering, and AC.

Surprisingly the original drive train is still going strong, hopping to see 300k!

I do prefer my 88 Chevy over the jeep, but the gas mileage is better in the jeep. Also the ac works better in the Florida heat.

She’s our kayak / boat runner for our monthly spring trips.

Gilchrist will be reopening October 1st for campers and I believe they will be opening the river access up again! This was taken back in march, so I expect the vegetation to have grown even more! Hopefully people will keep their feet up and out of the way to keep these previously barren rocks covered with lush greens. I’ve already booked the first day back, so we will get to see the before and after of what would happen if we left the springs alone for a year.

They are not opening up the spring to day access, the parking lot has not been finished. It’s only open to campers and possibly you can enter from the river. I’ll let you know next week when I go.

How well do they handle with an electric motor? Any recommendations besides this brand? If not I’m about to go wild with some 80-20 and straps! This is my fourth time going to Troy, and this time was the clearest I’ve seen it. 70ft deep and tons of fresh water being pumped into the Suwannee River in Florida (US). This spring is on the tamer side of thalassophobia since the water is so clear!

Kayaking and Freediving in the Santa Fe River, specifically at Ginnie Springs. Conditions were perfect last weekend!

Anyone know if this has cultural background, or is it just really weird??

Chassahowitzka, FL. Very busy Saturday as you would expect. Beautiful caves and a great way to stay cool.

The cave at the head springs feeds tons of water into the Suwannee each day. Where the tannic water of the river meets the clear spring water looks like wall into the void.

I dove to ~10m / 30ft into the head springs which goes down another 95ft into the dark caves!

Wife and I paddled from the boat ramp / river beach that is up the road from the main entrance as the park was full when we got there. The spring run to the swimming area had TONS of gar, catfish, and even two manatees! If you plan to go to the head springs from the main river you’re have to get off at the boat dock before entering the spring run and walk to it. Beautiful place to have lunch and fight the summer heat in the cool springs.

Trying my hand at editing some of my dive videos, thoughts? How could I improve?

Set a new PR of 24m/80ft here, a beautiful spot to dive as long as the gators aren’t around.
