Something got stuck. Help

Last night I was making a dip with a somewhat dry piece of cod my husband cooked, I’m still in my puréed phase, at 4 week post-op. My blender died on me and so I used a potato masher to really mash the fish into flakes and figured I could chew really well. I did check pretty well, and only had two bites of the dip on ritz crackers. It felt like it stuck in my pouch, I was miserable all night and most of today, it no longer feels stuck but my stomach is sore. I vomited once last night but had about 40 oz of warm liquids today that didn’t come up, but was nauseated for most the day, but that’s gone away.

Anyone go through this? What did you do?

I ordered a new blender and an actual food processor for the future.

Was called the grandfather of my husband at the store today…

Ok… So I’m reeling. My husband naturally thinks this is hilarious, I however am mortified… we stopped into a little fruit market near our home and the crypt keeper aged cashier was being friendly like she always is, I asked my husband if he was paying or if I was, and he said he would as he already had his money out, then she chimes in that he’s a good grandson, and then looks at my face and says how nice it is that he’s at the fruit market with me, and how useful it is to have youth to carry the heavy items…

The heavy item was a like 5lb watermelon!

We are nearly the same age, and like honestly couldn’t she just assume he’s my son or something, like the extra level of saying “grandson” is diabolical…

I know she has either lost it, or deliberately screws with people, but it stung as I’m mid thirty’s and feeling it this week because I found my first gray hairs.

Side note. My husband is also a different race than me and is a few years younger but has a ton of gray highlights in his hair, so that’s the cherry on top of this scenario. Lol

Woodchuck Friend

For the last three years we have been supporting a woodchuck, it started with our lettuce plants being eaten, as they are on the edge of the garden and accessible if your a limber woodchuck.

Rather than be outraged that we had a guest, we planted him a little garden of his own, with a variety of lettuces, some carrots, radishes, and celery. (Extra seeds) this little garden boarders in end of our vegetable garden, and is fully sacrificial.

Our woodchuck had babies and we now have three. They are adorable and pretty respectful, only enjoying what we have planted for them or given them. We also give them the occasional buggy cabbage, or overly bruised tomato etc.

We figure since we are in a super urban spot, it’s our responsibility to share the resources we have with our furry friends.

First pic is one of the babies, the other pics are of a very pregnant momma.

Real Talk- How long post-op, prior to your husband hinting at sex?

I asked the doctor, I marked it on the calendar when we could have sex, and my husband is still hinting, and asking.

How long after your surgery did your spouse start asking, hinting etc?

He’s very happy with the weight loss which is great, but patience man!!

He’s like a kid in a candy store with a black card with this thinner body… lol

3 week post op plateau

I was on my three week plateau, and weight me self just for funzies this morning, I’m down nearly 80lbs since the start of my process. I no longer have sleep apnea, I have more stamina, and energy, and I’m so glad to already be healthier that I have been in a long time! It’s so amazing how one of the hardest choices I have ever made has changed so much in my life already!

On the edge.

My husband and I have been in a reactive place the last couple years where the house has had repair costs, our cars were at the end of their lives, our appliances one by one died, and other weird emergencies happened like medical bills happening from me falling down a flight of stairs. We make great money between the two of us, but are over extended living paycheck to paycheck. I’m less concerned about the stigma of filing than he is, but I think that we are above the means test, meaning that we would have to repay by filing chapter 13. Does anyone have experience doing this? We aren’t to the point where we absolutely have to, but it’s close. 60k in personal debt including personal loans and credit cards, (all used for medical, minus one small loan which was to cover the excess of our wedding, which is under a thousand dollars) one car note of $585 one car note of $685 an RV note that $300. We don’t live an extravagant life style, but being off work recovering and having the deductible and co-pays that came with my treatment is overwhelming to the point that we spend about $500 a month more than we make, and but because we get paid on alternating weeks and bi-weekly we are able to pay bills and go several days on overdraft protection just to pay that off with the next pay check, and do it all over. What on earth do we do? Yes the debts ours, yes we make good money, but it’s not good enough to cover all the debt. Thoughts? Oh and both cars and the RV are about 10k upside down because of the crumbling auto and rv markets where we are located so we can’t even sell them. We put like 10k down on both cars and 5k down on the rv. We are in Michigan, and obviously this isn’t a request for legal advice just to see what others in the same situation did and or experienced. And currently we aren’t late on anything, but we have put about 30k into a debt management plan with a credit counseling company, but that’s has a monthly fee that we can’t really afford either, over $1000.00 a month + their fee of 75 dollars per month.

Started puréed food yesterday!

I was given the ok by my doc to start puréed foods last night. Every thing seemed to be fine last night when I had my three table spoons of dinner, now my back hurts and my ribs and it’s like I have gas, but I’m walking and nothing seems to fix this. What is this? Should I be concerned? Sleeve 2.5 weeks ago.

Gas Mask Needed!

Woah our 9 year old cattle dog has a gift for gassing us out of rooms. Today he has been resting under my desk and I’m not sure what is going on, but it’s bringing tears to my eyes while in teams meetings with my team! Lol

Amazing awning lights!

I know it’s simple and probably anticlimactic to most, but my husband helped me put up my (new to us) awning lights. I love them! I bought these lights from a super nice lady on FB buy, sell, trade, she bought the lights in the 80’s. I changed the bulbs out to LED bulbs and attached a dimmer. Oh an our cat loves her catio under the awning :)

Surgery Two Weeks Ago

Hi all, I had my surgery on 07/13 and have lost 13lbs, is that normal for the first two weeks? Also, has anyone not wanted to share why you were out of work? I would rather my co-workers, and some family not know why. Some of these folks have mentioned that they feel like bariatric surgery is the easy option (as we know it’s not), and I just don’t really want to share. If you have the same experience, what did you do or say when you returned to work?

DO NOT CAMP At Paris Park, in PARIS MI

I have camped at Paris Park for four years as a seasonal camper, and this has been the worst year so far. There is trash around, the lawns aren’t being mowed, the trailers are too close and present a risk of fires, and the staff is less than desirable. In the past the bathrooms and bathhouses have been clean and filled with toilet paper, and they have had amenities like transportation for tubing which is a paid service, several times the van has broken down causing issues with planning and disrupting many families camping activities.  The staff this year is cliquey and will do favors for some and not for others and only enforce rules for those who are not their friends.  Prices have continued to increase, and now they no longer allow for wood vendors to bring wood to seasonal sites, but allow anyone to bring in unverified, possible parasite infested wood by the camper full. Each year the staff completely turns over, and I am so hoping that next year is better. It can be an amazing park to camp in, they have ok hiking, the Muskegon River and in past years a super friendly staff that makes the experience worth the cost and travel.
