Was 50-60s retro futurism always part of the games?

Im not to particularly informed when it comes to this topic hence while I’m asking, but was it only since fallout 4 that culturally things stopped advancing since the 60s? It would explain why the assault rifle looks so ugly in 4 due to the retro futuristic art design.

Question about ‘the righteous authority’

For some context- I’m running a vats criticals build. I’m wondering if it’s better to use the receiver that gives more flat damage or the one that increases critical hit damage? (I forgot their own specific respective name, I do apologise).

This is in relation to maximising the damage dealt from vats critical shots/hits, if you could provide the math or proof behind which one you think is best that would be greatly appreciated.

How to build up construction with a nation that doesn’t have the recourses to do so?

Countries like Ethiopia don’t have access to iron and other construction input recourses (unless you conquer/puppet other lands). How are you supposed to build up construction without the base to do so?

Songs similar to ‘promises, promises’ by naked eyes

I love the song but I’ve been struggling to find similar songs. To my understanding it’s synth pop/new wave, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I still make my arms factories profitable if I use conscripts in my armies instead of professional battalions?

Can you be a ‚good’ character while siding with the institute?

I want to play a ‚good’ character playthrough (helping as much as I can and following before the war morales Ig?). For some context I never went far with the institute quest line wise, would it be possible after becoming director to mold the institute into being more charitable?

I understand that they prioritise themselves and think of themselves as a saviour to humanity so those outside aren’t the priority but could I (even if slightly) give them more charitable/favourable views to those above ground?

Questions about imports & exports

In order to export a good does the trade centre have to be in the same state the good is produced in + if not should it still be In the same state due to mapi?

Do imports only go to the state the trade centre is in or are imports market wide?

Don’t you think GTA online feels ‚directionless’?

To give some context; I don’t want to say I quit gta necessarily, however, I don’t play the game anymore. I won’t be talking much or at all about story mode as that’s not the main aim of my post-i will say for its time it was great but that was long ago.

I wish to go through some short comings of the gameplay and its effective loop, whilst give a little break down of it whilst providing my critiques.

I could talk about how Rockstar has ‚milked’ the online and how it has been stale for a long time but that would be as the expression goes- ‚beating a dead horse’. I think the overall philosophy of online is horrible however. Most content inside it can be boiled down to 2 differing mission types:

go to place, get thing, come back (supplies for a business, heist setups ect.).

Get in obnoxiously poor vehicle (purposely bad), deliver thing your selling across the full length of the map in said slow/heavy vehicle, hopefully make the sale.

Now obviously those two are huge generalisations, however my next point still stands. Any content that generates a considerable amount of cash is purposely time consuming & artificially difficult. This is done so to make you mad and buy a shark card. To clarify by what I mean by ‚artificial difficulty’ for example; could be not being allowed to spawn in a jet/tank within a mission or heist OR the opposite in free roam orientated missions, you being forced in a bad vehicle while others actively hunt you in opressors.

Finally, something which I really don’t think gets talked about enough- Shallowness of content. This can be broken down to 2 differing section: work/money making content & fun/content you spend your money on. I won’t go into too much detail here as this could be its own post. Essentially, everything you do- you do yourself, the things you do aren’t fleshed out- they’re boring & repetitive and finally there isn’t much you can spend your money on- it most likely has no purpose and has no fun activities or features that come with it. I understand the game is a sandbox but it all feels rather directionless like mentioned in the title.

Online has strayed far from the original philosophy of it on release. We went from total freedom to being trapped by money and the mindless grind that comes with it.

I’m sorry if this came off ‚ranty’ (it was) but honestly I’m just so frustrated with the game and it’s missed potential. I know I don’t really give any of my own suggestions on how to ‚fix’ things but this is getting rather lengthy. I would really be interested in seeing some of your responses and thoughts though (in relation to this post and gta online in general). I also do realise this is rather negative and there is a lot of that within the gaming world- especially on YouTube to get people angry and easy views but I feel like I had to share my opinions on the game.

Need some advice for Ethiopia

Is selling coffee profitable? How does the profit generation work, do you get the most money from the combination of dividends from trade centres and high level coffee plantations that are profitable?

Any general tips would also be welcome!

Question about cavalry

I know it’s not meta, I want to know what’s the minimum amount of cavalry to get the maximum occupation per battle?

I’m sorry if I’m not clear but I effectively want to use the least amount of cavalry per infantry battalion to quickly occupy large amounts of land and also have as much artillery as possible for the stats.

How do I make good transfer treaties profitable?

For example, one game as Dai nam I managed to get a treaty in which I transfer opium to the Qing, which I was hoping to make a profit from by increasing the domestic demand for opium, but I had to pay money to transfer them the opium, I was not happy to find that not only was I giving them a good I had to pay a fee-to I assume the opium plantations.

I really need help understanding the transfer good treaty articles and how I could make them profitable (both for when I’m giving a good and when I’m taking a good in a treaty).

Question about grain

There are multiple agricultural buildings types that give grain (millet farms, rye farms, maize farms ect.) are any of them better than the other in any way? Are they just cosmetic and reflect the differing types of crops/grain people around the world cultivate/grow?

Do you think differentiation between the crops (rye and rice being their own separate goods for example) could be good for the game?

What’s the purpose of granting a company a colonial charter?

Is there any benefit to it or is it just a bit of flavour for rp? In my opinion it can be annoying as they colonise territories by themselves and this can cause border gore.

In my most recent game as Sweden I gave my logging company rights to colonise the Congo but after they establish themselves they started colonising east Angola. Obviously in real life I’m sure my government/company wouldn’t care about the extra territory, but I personally wanted a Swedish Congo and just that for clean borders.

Questions about ”Social Monarchy”

  1. Does enacting it automatically make your nation facist? Is it possible to be a social monarchy without being considered facist/a facist state?

  2. What IGs support it?

  3. Can I have a democratic government whilst running social monarchy (I.e census or universal suffrage voting law) or does it have to be a one party state/oligarchy/autocracy?

  4. Does having a social Monarchy empower IGs that typically encompass the lower and middle strata (rural folk, trade unions, Petite Bourgeoisie and maybe intelligentsia) whilst weakening higher strata? (Land owners mostly and maybe intelligencia + church)

  5. Finally, is it meta? Like is it as good as say technocracy (I think, im not particularly experienced with the game) or is it a meme?
