When Did St. John's become Toronto Prices for Apartments?
Just moved back home from living Downtown Toronto. Was paying 2000 utilities included for a nice 2 bedroom apartment near Davis ville. I moved home with impression that going from Torontos core to Little St. John's would be a huge no brainer, yet im here struggling to comprehend how rent here is on par and especially for downtown St. Johns buildings higher than many spaces in Toronto, the biggest city in the country?!?
The apartments here are far and few between; many are decrepit and 40+ years old with terrible thermal insulation and high utilities in peoples basments.
The apartment buildings here are also lacking, with few avaliable and many being near "project" housing and social supports which unfortunately brings crime and broken windows.
I may just move back to Toronto as it seems like higher quality of living for the same cost.
Am I missing something here? Even in the more rural areas around St. John's the rents are absurd for what you are getting in comparison to the rest of the countries urban areas like Montreal, Calgary, Toronto, ect.
