Are these guys smoking crack? - Truck Gun Back of the Seat Lock, $671.00

$700 for the locking mechanism alone? And they throw in a home depot masterlock bike lock??

Anyone do something like this? I don't mind paying a good price for premium but holy cow haha

Full Length Arca Rail for Tikka Super Varmint, Good Idea?

Just ordered a Tikka Supevvarmint, 6.5CM, 24 inch barrel.

Super excited, got a nice optic as well.

Planning to shoot PRS with it.

I'd like to put an arca rail on it for PRS, will shoot it for a few months or a year before getting a proper chasis.

Should I put a full length arca rail on it? Any recs / what's maximum / preferred length?

I saw the Area419 Rails with built in Barricade by the magwell, is that a good option?

12 Inch or 14 Inch maybe? Was looking for measurements online, rather order now then after getting the rifle in a few weeks.

Other options I saw were Mountain Tactical, Salmon River

Tks!

Tikka CTR Upgrade Path or Ace Target

Hello,

New to long range, want to start shooting PRS.

I've done a fair amount of initial research.

I am leaning toward Tikka in 6.5CM to start as it seems to be better initial option than Baragara if I don't plan to turn it into a top tier gun.

I see it as a modest way to start the sport, upgrade it a bit, and if I keep shooting, I'll build a top tier gun in a year or 2.

So anyways, do you think Ace Target is a good ready to go option or better to get the CTR and buy a chasis?

I am not super price sensitive, I generally prefer buy once, cry once / premium. Was planning to put a Vortex Razor Gen 3 6-36 on any option.

Any other path you guys recommend I strongly consider? Tks so much.

Should I start PRS with a 308 Rifle?

Looking to build a "budget" PRS rifle for my first season, starting with a Tikka CTR and upgrading slowly.

Will get a decent optic and I have a suppressor, and Atlas bipod.

Should I start with 308, better for learning wind, bullet drop, etc, and then if I love the sport, I will get a decked out 6.5CM later?

Or should I just get the 6.5CM CTR out of the gate to really learn?

Will probably end up with atleast 2 rifles either way, and I am most interested in best way to learn vs cost / winning, etc.

I also already own a lightweight 308 hunting rifle so some ammo crossover, not the biggest deal but thought that was a plus.

Thank you!

Any New Cat Akbars coming out in QD anytime soon?

I would be interested in Ti or Inconel, I think preference is Ti with the new Ti-c material. Have a bunch of Cat Cans in QD already so I would like to stick with the QD system.

Noob Vice Install Question

I’d like to install this vice on top of this workbench I just got.

Do you think the workbench is sturdy enough for basic gunsmithing, installing muzzle devices, etc? There is a thin sheet metal layer underneath the wood that the bolts will also go through.

Both took a bit too long and will mess with the drawer below, should I cut the bolts/by shorter ones?

I’m trying to ensure that there’s enough clearance on the edge of the workbench on the back to have uppers hanging down.

Any other important tips before I try to drill this baby in?

Thank you!

Nobody Here, Help w Champion Generator, won’t start.

My father-in-law got me a generator about 7 years ago, and it’s been sitting in my garage.

I finally took it out of the box and have been trying to get it started. Bought new correct oil per instructions, added alcohol free gasoline.

Connected the battery lugs, I assumed the battery would be completely dead, though the battery light did turn on after connecting the battery connections.

I’ve been on AI, trying to start it with a hand crank on two separate days for about an hour each with no luck

Fuel option is set to gasoline and set on.
Multi-button is set to on
Battery button is set to on.

I checked the spark plug, don’t know much about this, but it looks newish. I unscrewed the spark plug, connected it to the wire cap and touched the threaded part to a piece of metal on the generator and pulled the crank and I did see a spark. I was pretty sure it was a spark plug issue until I saw this spark.

I’ve tried waiting and letting the system dry out, choke on, choke off, choke halfway. The engine turns but doesn’t ignite / catch.

I think the first time I started it, after a few poles it did a super short initial rumble, but 95% of the pulls. I haven’t gotten much feedback other than just the engine turning due to the pull. I do think I am pulling hard enough.

Do I need to get a mobile mechanic or someone more knowledgeable than myself or can I figure this out?

Want to get this baby Rolling so she can be ready for the next big storm.

Thank you!

▲ 3 r/Lighting+1 crossposts

I'd like to put recessed lighting that's dimmable in our nursery for our new baby that's coming.

From what I've read, other types of lighting besides LED are more healthy: incandescent, halogen.

I'm struggling to find bulbs or suitable lights. I read on AI that BR30 halogens might be a good option, but no luck so far with some brief googling.

Any tips from my crunchy lighting friends out there?

Any specifics on the type of housing, preferred brands, good website, etc.? I'm having my electrician install them, and he's pretty good at pretty much everything.

Thank you!
