Graham Platner Smeared Murdered ‘American Sniper’ Chris Kyle in Podcast Rant, Claiming Navy SEAL Shot Innocent Civilians ‘To Get High Numbers’
freebeacon.comI think my Dungeon Master knows I’m cheating
So I’m pretty sure my DM has figured out that I’m cheating, but I don’t know how to handle it.
For context, I play a rogue, and I keep “rolling” really high numbers. Like, he’ll ask for a stealth check and I’ll say “23,” and then he looks at me like I just divided by zero at the table. I tried explaining that I have Dexterity, proficiency, and expertise, but he just kept staring at my d20 like it personally betrayed him.
Last session, I attacked something and hit again, and he asked, “How do you keep hitting?” So I said, “I’m dexterous and proficient,” which I thought was a pretty normal answer, but apparently that made me look more suspicious. He said if I was that good at dice I should be at a casino, which is weird because I don’t think casinos let you add Sneak Attack.
The worst part is I don’t even know if he understands modifiers. He seems to think the highest number possible is 20. I rolled a 17 and added 6, and he acted like I’d hacked the Pentagon. Then when I said I was an expert, he thought I was insulting him.
I’m worried he’s going to start making me do math problems at the table “to prove I’m not cheating,” which is concerning because I came here to play Dungeons & Dragons, not take the GED.
How do I politely tell my DM that the numbers on the character sheet are supposed to be added to the dice? Or should I just start rolling lower so he feels safe?
