Is Facebook Finally Dying? with Julia Angwin - Factually! with Adam Conover
A great discussion about how The Zuck dumped $80 billion into the meta-verse, then tens of billions into llama and has promised to dump additional billions into trying AI yet again but Wall Street is getting nervous. A shrinking user base, Zuck shoveling more money into the furnace plus potentially massive losses in lawsuits equals serious trouble.
Losing the personal harm lawsuit looks to be a bellweather case that's going to open the floodgates to a massive amount of damages in several different categories of civil suits similar to the tobacco industry and likely to resolve in massive settlement losses.
What's ironic is that whatever future that AI has is likely to be in small language models trained on industry data sets to perform a handful of tasks run onsite instead of this wasteful hyperscaler fantasy promising circus.
Admittedly there are some Facebook groups which are notably superior to the subreddits based on similar topics, hopefully they will migrate here.
