Hi, clarinettist here,

I’ve been recently picking up sax, and thought I would like to try the solo from this song, as it is a favorite of mine. It’s going alright (obviously got a long way to go as I learn to transition between the two instruments), but I am so curious, how Michael Brecker achieved his crazy smooth tone in his solo there and how I might think about approaching it? It’s so ridiculously smooth it’s like butter and I’m not even close at the moment, but hopefully one day lol

I heard that uranium has a lot more energy than carbohydrates, so rather than having to eat regular meals multiple times a day, why don’t we just eat a bit of uranium less often, to save time?

Edit: people on here must not be the brightest, everyone keeps saying “too many calories” but won’t consider that you could just, eat less?

I had a TI-84 plus CE from 2021 which had an alpha option above the variable button for entering a fraction bar.

Fast forward, I unfortunately lost my calculator a few months ago, so I asked my math teacher if she had found one. She had in fact found one like mine, which she said I could have, since nobody else had claimed it. This calculator is a TI-84 plus CE, but it is NOT mine. The manufacturing date is later, it has a charging light on the side, (which she insisted mine must have had, but I am certain it did not), my programs were gone (which is likely explained if it ran out of battery), but completely baffling to me is that the useful little fraction button above the variable input is conpletely gone!

Originally I decided I must have misremembered, but I just saw a post showing the same type of calculator, and I zoomed in, and, lo and behold, it was right there, in green text next to the blue ‘link’ option.

I have not found a single reference to this online, and I can’t think of any possible reason for why it would have been removed. Every time I use it I get tripped up as I have to remember where the menu is, and it’s such a pain. My only condolence is that I know I’m not going crazy as I saw that post with the same thing.

EDIT: turns out alpha-XTθn still works and enters the fractiok bar, it is simply that the icon for it is not visible. Utter insanity.

My group always has fun discussing over the different variations on this. A few good/funny ones:

Randomly pick a player to go first: often results in “I randomly choose myself to go first”

The player who was most recently underground: sparks intense debate about what counts as ‘underground’

The player who most recently went to sea: usually comes down to everyone’s most recent ferry rides, trying to work out whose was the most recent.

The player with the most interesting socks: (my personal favorite, as I always win!)
