Is Albin Roth's "repugnance" constraint treated as exogenous of endogenous in the market design literature?
Just started studying this, would love some insight
His 2007 paper on repugnant markets seems to argue that markets are impacted more by social objection than inefficiency.
His thesis makes sense, but I was left with one big question. Do experts treat repugnance as a fixed input or as something that depends on the specific design of the market?
Where should i look to get more clarity and information on this topic? Really trying to nail down whether repugnance is generally modeled as exogenous to the design, or as endogenous to it.
His kidney exchange example also seems to argue that you can take a repugnant exchange and redesign it into an acceptable one without changing the underlying transfer of resources market, but I'd love some feedback on that conclusion.
Additionally, if I am interested in market design who should I study next?
