Captain America II: Death To Soon (1979)
Follow up to the first made for TV Captain America movie but unfortunately this one lacks any charm at all. Even though they managed to get Christopher Lee as the villain all that ends up happening is his seasoned theatrical acting is a huge mismatch against the network TV actors and almost painful to watch. The story is weak, the acting is bad, the action sequences are laughable but not in a good way. Universal was trying to make this into a series but lost the rights which is probably a good thing.
My rating 2/10 for having Christopher Lee.
Captain America (1979)
This ain't an MCU movie, made for TV this adaptation played very loosely with the character of Steve Rogers and Captain America. The story and acting are pretty par for the course with network TV of the time which was substandard compared to movies released in theaters. That being said there's a certain charm to this if you can get past the schlock. A few of the things that happen in the movie do end up making their way into comics later but I'll let you look that up.
My rating 4.5/10 doesn't rise to so bad it's good territory but not terrible either just kinda eh, good enough for a superhero completest like me :)
A review of The Hobbit: An Unextended Journey by kowfoonkoala
I really enjoyed this fanedit of Peter Jackson's overlong, oversaturated 3 film adaptation of a small book. Here the runtime is cut in half and all unnecessary things are cast out while finding a good balance between the book and the good extra things in the adaptation. One thing I found a bit jarring is the faneditor put a 1 minute intermission in the film which I found broke the flow a little but is nothing major. He did update his post and explain that it's there now.
The movie's pacing flows well and the editing is done well so everything goes together smoothly so nothing that was excised is missed.

reddit.comStar Trek Beyond (2016)
I know "is this movie old" well it's officially 10 years old. The last of the JJ Abrams kelvin reboot trilogy Beyond boldly goes where Star Trek has gone before to strange new worlds and meets weird new creatures. But not is all as it seems and many twists and turns prevail.
This outing was co-written by Simon Pegg which I think reflects well on the dialogue. Unfortunately some of the action decisions are a bit perplexing imo leaving it disjointed in places. Still an enjoyable movie but still doesn't grab the magic of Star Trek 2009.
Why is it always the same people who've never seen the film
Megalopolis (2024)
It's not very often I have to go look up the plot to a film I just watched by a big director because it didn't make sense but not because it was complicated but yep I did. It also turns out he was inspired by Ayn Rand which should have been a huge stop sign right there but nooo he pressed forward anyway. Hats off to the actors for delivering on such a convoluted mess of well everything. The thing is buried in there is a movie worth watching but in heavy need of better editing.
