Will the “silverdale” limestone on the left eventually fade to match the color of the same but older stone on the right?

Did I get scammed by Home Depot? I bought a dwarf Austrian pine with zero roots.

I’ve actually planted three of these “Oregon Green” Austrian Pines over the years and they all came in a burlap sack and with the worst looking soil just like this, and they’re all still living. But this is the first time the soil all fell away and I was able to see that there is no rootball at all.

I put this one in the ground and watered it with some rooting stimulant added to the water, and it’s propped up with a stake. Think it will live?

Heaven on Earth: Iseli Nursery in Boring OR. [oc]

Video is from two years ago. I was in Portland for a motorcycle event and I had time to visit this nursery because I wanted to see their stunning display garden.

BTW if you want to go, you may wish to call first. I was wandering around the display garden and one of the office workers came out to talk to me and answer questions, and got the impression that it’s best to let them know to expect you so there’s no surprises.

New rule: you must own at least two wagons to post in this sub. Just kidding. But here’s my little collection.

Can this red maple be saved? What can I do other than call an arborist. Location in Northeat Kansas.

I think previous owner layed sod down on top of some of the roots, maybe close to half, where an even bigger maple tree was located but they cut down before we moved in. Would have been over three years ago. I started noticing dead limbs last year but not like this.

I need this tree because it helps shade our house in summer evenings.

Can I start by removing all sod and dirt around the root zone and replacing with compost?

My neighbor says it was planted about 20 years ago.

Here’s the questions listed in the subs rules and my answers:

General location? NORTHEAST KANSAS

Is this a tree that can survive in your area/hardiness zone? YES

When was it planted? ABOUT 25 YEAE AGO

How much sun is it getting? FULL SUN

How much water are you dispensing, how often, and by what means are you dispensing it (eg: hose=✅, sprinkler=❌)? ONLY RAIN

Was this a container tree or B&B (Balled and burlapped)? UNKNOWN

Is there any specific procedure you used to plant the tree? What did or didn't you do? I DID NOT PLANT IT

If it was a container tree what did the root mass look like when you took it out of the pot? Was it potbound? UNKNOWN

Can you see the root flare of the tree or are there just a stem or a bunch of stems coming up from the ground? YES

Is there plastic or landscape fabric underneath the mulch/rocks? NO

Additional info for both new transplants and established trees: construction?, heavy traffic?, digging?, extreme weather events?, chemical application, overspray from golf courses/ag fields/neighbors with immaculate lawns, etc. Any visible damage or decay? POSSIBLE DAMAGE FROM SOD INSTALLATION INCLUDING EQUIPMENT
