Reminder to check your epi-pen expiration dates

Currently having an allergic reaction of some kind, itchy mouth, took two antihistamines and have my epi-pens on hand for if symptoms change or progress.

Also just noticed that both of my epi’s expired 8 MONTHS ago, they’re cheap and affordable in my country I really have no excuse for this other than being an idiot and losing track of things 😭
I’m aware that they’re still likely fine so I will be using them if I need to, but holy this is your reminder to also make sure that yours are actually in date

“Item delayed” after out for delivery

Hi, I’m a very anxious Australian who bought an expensive gift for a close friend in Canada.

I’ve been tracking the shipping and the package was updated to be out for delivery today, and the last scan matches this with it being in her city, but it’s suddenly changed to “item delayed - stay tuned for updates” within the last hour.

Dealing with Australia post this often means the package has gone missing/is stolen so I’m pretty damn anxious and want reassurance if this is normal or not, as I’ve only ever dealt with Canada post once before where things went smoothly.

Edit: it’s still fine on her end she just woke up, tracking might be broken for me as it’s now 12:15am here

Question about hard yakka 3056

For my job I’m being provided with a pair of work boots for free, has to be the brand hard yakka. I tried a pair on today and was having an issue where something at the top of the boot was pressing down into the top of my foot with every step. It wasn’t the steel cap as it was too far back, and sizing up did nothing to stop the issue. Other than this the boots were extremely comfortable.

For anyone who owns these boots, is this something that goes away over time from breaking them in? Admittedly I have very little experience wearing steel cap work boots especially with breaking them in (have worn the same hand me down pair for almost 4 years now), so I’m not sure if it’s an issue that will go away with time or if I should look towards trying on different styles.

For my post from yesterday

As for everyone who replied something helpful, thank you so much, I’m glad to see that some genuinely good people are out there

As for everyone else oh my god some of you are completely vile, this is the exact reason I want to leave the country as soon as I’m financially able to. Do better

So like… what’s even viable right now

For context I’m a 25 year old trans girl stuck in a dead end retail job that’s physically destroying my body and causing various health issues and I need to break out of this before it kills me.

I’ve been contemplating going back to university again but every time I try to I’m just stumped on what to do. I’ve already completed a bachelors of visual arts & design which was probably the biggest mistake of my life with how useless the course ended up being, and if I’m going to do this again I can’t just waste my time and money. Issue is every single field I look into just seems to complete gloom and hopelessness.

I contemplated doing computer science as it seems like something I could genuinely enjoy and isn’t a physical job, but apparently that markets completely dead and I’d be only shooting myself in the foot. Media seems like a no go considering my friends who’ve specialised it and haven’t been able to get work in over a year. Education I hated when I tried it and the wages aren’t great either. Nursing and medicine exist but I feel like the expectations that come with those roles will end up leaving me worse off than the position I’m currently in. I can’t even jump to a different kind of retail position as stores only want to hire minors these days… genuinely what can you even do??? Even having job alerts turned on all I ever get is the same position at Harvey Norman posted over and over and over again that’s so clearly a false listing 😭

Every time I try to figure this out people just recommend the trades, things like plumbing and construction, but I can’t physically do that, so what career paths are at least somewhat half viable these days which don’t involve physical manual labor 🥲

PVC mattress protector recommendation for Australia?

Questions as simple as it sounds, does anyone have any good recommendations for pvc mattress protectors that are available within Australia? No matter where I look all I can find down here are the rubber backed ones, and no matter what I do or how many I try or how many precautions I take they all end up leaking eventually 😓

Ideally I wouldn’t want a full zip one, my mattress is heavy and I can’t lift it by myself, so I’d want one that’s like a fitted sheet. My bed size is also a double, the only pvc ones I’ve found in my country so far are for single beds 🥲

Age verification broken?

I’ve been having an issue lately where literally every time I’ve tried to view an image twitter deems as inappropriate it makes me do a face scan to verify my age, annoying but whatever. For some reason today though the face scan said that I’m under 18 (I am not), and now my account seems to be permanently barred from sensitive content.

Is there any way to get around or fix this? I haven’t seen anything in the settings that could help and it feels a bit silly that it’s correctly verified me as an adult more times than I can count now, but a single failed verification and my accounts just seemingly locked forever. When I attempt to re-verify my age it just says that my age is already verified and doesn’t allow me to, even if I do a new face scan

Suspected popcorn kernel deeply lodged in gum

I ate popcorn on Monday (now Thursday) and ever since have had a swollen gum around my back molar, which hurts a bit but not severely. I suspect it’s a popcorn kernel that’s stuck but every time I try to remove it i make zero progress whatsoever, the issue is I can’t even see it or feel it the only sign that it’s even there is the gum inflammation.

Is there anything I can do at home to get this resolved, I honestly don’t have money to afford seeing a dentist right now and even if I did I doubt I’d be able to get in until next week at the soonest, and I have a bit of anxiety about it potentially getting infected so it’s honestly worrying me a fair bit

Workplace harassment from a store manager.

For context I’m a trans woman in my 20’s, I’ve been on hormones for around 3 years now and have had my legal name and sex changed so there are no traces of my previous identity left in the system. As for if I pass my only struggle is voice training, but physical appearance wise I am fine.

Around a year ago my store got a new store manager, and I’ve just found out that he’s been intentionally calling me a man and joking about me behind my back to other employees. I’d noticed over the last few months I was increasingly getting misgendered more and more frequently by other employees which felt strange, but now getting this new information I’m making the assumption that he is the reason why. I’ve also recently had issues with him making backhanded snarky remarks to my face, such as saying “do you ever even work anymore” when I applied for a week of annual leave around Easter despite having gotten an email from corporate that I need to book more time off due to having too much annual leave accumulated.

I’m not the only employee that has issues with him, and I’m fully aware that many team members are disgruntled by his behaviour and comments across multiple departments, but at this point it feels like his harassment towards me is targeted and I to put it simply no longer feel comfortable working with him. The workplace has also recently suggested I should step down from my position due to taking too much sick leave from poor health, which is a less major issue as I do also agree that the job is taking a toll on my body, but legally I am still within my rights where action cannot be taken against me. All time I have taken off has been accompanied by medical certificates regardless of if they’ve requested one or not.

In terms of making a report to HR and how to proceed with this situation what would be my best options? As of right now all evidence I have is unfortunately word of mouth which makes me hesitant to make a report immediately, but at the same time I’m also equally hesitant to wait too long. I’m also just honestly not even sure how to go about the process in the first place. At the current rate things are going if I can’t request a store transfer to a location within reasonable commuting distance I will be forced to leave the job as everything has been taking a severe toll on my mental health while my physical health has already been suffering, but I also can’t exactly afford to do this economically either so any advice would be much appreciated.

Melbourne trans friendly hairdressers to deal with frizzy damaged wavy hair 😓

Admittedly I’ve neglected my hair for a long time, but at this point I need to fix something and I don’t think I’ll be able to without seeing a professional.

Does anyone know any good hairdressers in or around Melbourne that are experienced with dealing with damaged and wavy hair? I got my hair bleached from a place on the strands for trans resources two years ago and they completely fried it. By this point most of the bleached highlights have grown out a lot, but my hair is feels like dried straw all over, frizzes up badly, and is covered in split ends.

I’m not really sure where else to ask as my last two haircuts went horrible, with the last one frying my hair completely and the one before cutting everything off to short back & sides against my wishes… so I’m really desperate for places that other trans woman with long wavy hair have been to and had good experience with.

I’ve been looking to get some headphones due to sensory issues I suffer from (not being able to isolate or drown out sounds), but every pair of headphones I’ve ever worn has given me severe headaches originating from inside of the ear drum. I’ve read that this might be due to a sensitivity to the pressure caused by sound waves vibrating but I’m not entire sure on what the actual cause is.

Does anyone else experience this, and if so have you been able to find a pair that doesn’t cause it? I need to catch public transit a lot so having every single sound of a busy train inside and out bombarded into my ears at once is incredibly overwhelming, but having severe headaches constantly isn’t exactly going to be any better and it’s not like I can just test a pair for long enough before committing to buying it 😭

Any time I try to look into this all I see are unrelated issues such as pain on the sides of the head and top of the head, or someone else with the same issue as me who ultimately got no replies that helped, so any help at all is much appreciated

I'm trying to change my name and sex with Rest super and they're wanting a change of name certificate, which is a document that literally does not exist in the state of Victoria. I am aware of the pdf version you can get emailed at request; however this form does not have the registration and cerficiate form numbers they require, and after two failed attemps of guessing what they want they now want me to get a copy of the authentic document stamped and signed by a registered person.

I'm really not sure what to do here other than hoping a pharmacist will stamp a printed copy of a PDF form which feels like a stretch to me. Any others in Victoria who have Rest super how did you manage to change your name/sex with them? and what steps did you need to take to do so?

How realistic is it to hope to get SRS done within Australia? From what I can tell almost everyone goes to Thailand to get theirs done, but I have a severe nut allergy so doing so could easily end up killing me :/

If I wanted to get the surgery done within Australia how difficult is it and how much would it likely end up costing all up? Of if that isn’t realistic are there any viable options people often go to for English speaking countries where food allergies with language barriers isn’t going to be an issue? Are there any ways too to cover the fees without just having that money saved up out of pocket? Numbers I’ve seen seem to be around 30k on the low end and imagining having that sort of money feels impossible…

Really wanting any advice possible as right now it honestly just feels completely hopeless :(
