Gore repair

Gore repair

Mom’s favorite piece of mineral gore fell apart today as we picked it up. The glue had turned into chalk. I scrubbed it off. Do any of you have an adhesive you’d recommend? I was thinking E6000, but unsure if it would damage or react with anything.

Eclipse curse on patriarchy

Made this a while ago but with another eclipse coming up I wanted to share it again! Have at and let ‘em have it.

Fish tank and green house

Just wanted to share, I love how my fishtank is looking, I added the topper on the left and also just got the new cabinet and decorated it. And yes, my fish choices do match the wallpaper.

Photo wall on stairs of family photos blurred for privacy.

Odyssey - don’t do it

Just as a warning to my fellow spoonies, if you’re thinking about going to the Odyssey movie, don’t. Even if your mild, even if movies are usually fine, even if you have a relatively normal life don’t do it. The new Odyssey movie is just 3 hours of sensory hell. I’ll probably be in crash for at least a few days if not longer

All shaky hand cams, blurry motion shots and overly zoomed in faces, and strobe lights. If they wanted to do an iMax big picture they should have zoomed out occasionally.

The sound track sounds like a baby banging on metal trash can lids with a cacophony of yelling that just gets louder every plot point with interspersed female chorus. It’s also out of order and the ship paddling physics are backwards. I have never hated a movie so much that I felt compelled to write a review but this was absolutely horrendous. The only redeeming quality was Ann Hathaway and a plot by Homer. The acting was fine but couldn’t be appreciated because no single camera shot lasted a full second. I couldn’t care less about who the director and producer were, they should’ve been fired, that was crimes against perfectly good film (or hard drives).

I would have left if I was trapped on all sides by a packed theater. I had to take a dose of skullcap and put my fingers in my ears the 2nd half.

Edit to add because it’s come up a few times, I saw it in iMax at regal cinemas at dole cannery.

Opal translucence

I got this fun bracelet at a state fair a few weeks ago. I absentmindedly got it wet and found that the opals turn totally transparent when wet, very cool. I know it’s not good to get it wet all the time, but I honestly just forgot today.

ISS pass over Honolulu

Been watching glimmers of the ISS since I was a little kid who wanted to study space. It always brings good feelings and memories when I get to see it again, renewed belief in humanity and what we can accomplish. If we can keep humans healthy in space, maybe I can be healthy one day too. Aloha to all the crew up there and their earth bound protectors. 🌺

Toilet games

Just a small shout out to Nintendo, I appreciate being able to play my switch from the toilet. My animal crossing island is looking great. How is everyone else with GI issues passing the time?

I’ve also been enjoying the mobile game Patterned. And my old standby Two Dots, I cracked 1000 levels this year, I play until I get unreasonably frustrated at a level, forget it exists for a few months, then solve it on the first try when I pick it back up.

Water thoughts / discussion

I live in a tropical place, in my craft I learned very quickly just how fast water will grow algae. For my moon and other celestial based waters I fill glass jars with filtered boiled water and charge them with the lid on, canning style. Because no amount of metaphysics will make water algae free.

However for things like rain and storm, river and waterfall water, I just had a thought. What if instead of filling jars with water from these sources which tended to have a short shelf life, I took the same method and put the jar
- in a stream for an hour or so while I chilled nearby, - held it in the flow of a waterfall,
- leave the whole filled jar with lid outside during a storm,
- fill with salt water and put where the waves of the ocean ebb and flow over it for a while?

Do you feel this would capture the energies of these various water sources? Or does the water have to be intrinsically in the source to hold the charge?

Thoughts? Discussion? How do you keep your stream water from turning into a science project?

Matching appointments

My good friend and chronic illness buddy and I both had doctors appointments at the same time today at different clinics. We were chatting before hand over the phone and it kinda feels like when you and a friend accidentally have matching outfits, but for us chronic illness people. ❤️‍🩹

Just loving even the very smallest joys lol

Books and cookbooks for recent gallbladder removal

Hi all!

One of my best friends just had her gallbladder out (finally, after years of suffering). I wanted to help her and her sister out with adjusting to her new diet by getting them a cookbook or two for inspiration. And if there is a good one, essentially the user manual to living without a gallbladder. Do any of you have some book recommendations? Or maybe podcasts too?

Hands puffy

Hi all,
I had my first run in with anaphylaxis last Monday, I’m doing much better and taking my prednisone. But my hands are still puffy, my wedding ring almost got stuck, and my wrist looks somewhat swollen. Is this normal? How long does it last? Any tips for getting rid of it? I did some detox stuff and kept my hands elevated for an evening while watching tv, it helped but was back to puffy by morning.

Bishop planetarium

Update: thank you all! resolved, it’s open, took about 8 tries to get anything besides a busy signal. Apparently it’s closed every Wednesday.

Can anyone confirm if the bishop museum planetarium is open and operational today? Heard rumors it was closed yesterday

Cromolyn pops?

Might be dumb, might be genius, need feedback. I’m recovering from an anaphylaxis event yesterday. I’m on all my usual antihistamines plus more that I don’t usually take, prednisone and have an epi. I fully understand the seriousness and went to urgent care yesterday and will go to er if need be, but I feel I’m recovering.

However my tongue feels raw like I burned it. When I took my cromolyn I put a few drops on my tongue and it felt nice but quickly got washed away. It’s also hot today. I was thinking about popping a few in some water and putting them in my popsicle mold in the freezer. So I can get a nice 10-15 minute flow of it in my mouth plus ice usually helps hives heal externally, so might help mouth too?

Thoughts? Will it not survive the freezing proceeds? Make the water not freeze or the salt make it colder?

Hyper mobility

Any one else feel extra hyper mobile/ joint instability either post anaphylaxis or post steroid shot?

First ever anaphylaxis today after an allergy shot (which is crazy since I’ve been on them 6 years with a year and a half of maintenance dose), some stress, and possibly the movie popcorn? Will run down possible triggers tomorrow when I feel less like a pancake that got run over by several trucks.

I got medical help immediately, I’m being treated and watched by husband after being discharged with a shot of cortisone in the butt, a course of prednisone to start tomorrow and told to take extra Benadryl and some Zyrtec I grabbed at the pharmacy since I don’t typically take it as it usually does nothing.

But when I got home I realized my knees are trying to subluxate, the stairs were challenging, my fingers are also extra bendy and I popped a knot that had been in my neck for weeks. Is this a “normal” symptom? I’m sub clinical hyper mobile without any hEDS genetic markers, just party trick bendy. I take it is part of the bundle deal that comes with the auDHD, IBS, POTS, dyslexia deluxe package.

I’m probably late to this party but I finally downloaded the Nintendo switch app and you can earn points for these items. I had no clue. They’re super cute!
