Canadian-made chunky salsa?

Looking for Canadian-made chunky salsa. Not just “hot sauce”, but a jar of genuine chunky tomato salsa - maybe even made by Mexicans living here.

I love Mexican food, but trying to avoid mass produced, over-packaged, over-preserved stuff.

Freshly imported from Mexico would be good, if available, but prefer something local.

Besides sheer revenge against Britain 🇬🇧, what did France 🇫🇷 hope to gain by supporting and funding the US in the American Revolution?

Did they think that Britain would retreat entirely from North America, thereby leaving Canada for France to take back?

Or that the new US nation would hand over the Mississippi valley out of gratitude?

How did they hope to get back even a fraction of what they spent?

Often overshadowed, but not forgotten: Hec Ramsey, briefly part of the rotating NBC Mystery Movie series…

The show featured a unique premise worthy of being revisited: a retired gunfighter now in the early years of the 20th century decides to investigate crime using newly developed scientific methods.

Hec Ramsey was overshadowed by the more famous Columbo and McCloud shows and was cancelled after only two seasons, but worth remembering and re-watching (if available).

Are BC Watermelons sprouting yet? 🍈

I’ve been holding out, hoping I can buy a genuine local watermelon, rather than an import.

Can anyone attest to seeing them this year, and when we can expect to see them in stores or markets?

Hoping they’re sweet and tasty. 😋

Fresh watermelon?

Has anyone seen any fresh local or Mexican watermelon selling anywhere around the city?

The juicier, redder, sweeter, the better. Compatibility with cocktails a plus. 🎉

Should a wooden cutting board that’s cracked down the middle after years of use and washing be discarded?

I think so, to avoid bacteria, but just want other opinions….

Back straps for a beach chair?

I have a low-set beach chai with a metal frame and fabric seating. Unfortunately, it did not come with those funky beach chair back straps that enable you to conveniently strap your beach chair onto your back so that you can jauntily wear it down to the beach.

Does anyone know if these straps are sold separately anywhere?

Pakistani restaurants in walkable area?

Some friends are coming to visit and they want to visit a genuine Pakistani owned and operated restaurant.

From all web sources, it seems Vancouver is the site for Indian food, but almost all searches for Pakistani food points me to Surrey.

Does anyone have any recommendations for genuine Pakistani food - hopefully in a nice “walkable” area?

The Surrey municipal website has a fabulous food section, but when I look up the addresses on Google Maps, they all look like they’re in strip malls that are…less than appealing.

I really hope to find something and learn a bit about Pakistani food myself. Thanks!

Prince Rupert via Terrace?

Has anyone travelled Vancouver to Prince Rupert by flying to Terrace and taking the bus for 2 hours to PR?

How did it work for you? Any chance of missed connections? Which bus did you take?

Day trip to Tyrrell Museum…from outside Alberta. Am I crazy?

I need some sobering advice from locals. I have a credit from an airline that I need to use in the next couple months.

I live in BC on a tight budget…meaning I’m trying to skip a hotel bill.

Is it possible to fly in to Calgary on a very early flight, have a bus tour company pick me up from the airport (as opposed to a hotel), then drop me off at the airport at the end of the day for the flight home?

Yes, I could look up all the dinosaur tour companies to ask if they could do an airport pickup/drop off, but I’d like some local opinions too.

Am I crazy?

Any recommendations for tour bus companies?

Edit: Thank you everyone! Perhaps the itinerary might be too tight and stressful. But a few mentioned an alternative: Calgary. Perhaps a day trip to the Calgary Stampede would be more practical? I’ll have to check the expiry date of the airline credit.

Yorkshire Tea questions

Do the teabags have a staple and string, or are they regular square or round teabags?

How does it compare to Tetley?

Is there any place in Vancouver where I can still get a poster print shrink wrap framed?

It’s a cheap, light alternative to other frames. I’ve heard they’re not durable - but prints that I had framed decades ago are still in great condition, despite several moves and subsequent re-hanging.

Any leads on where I can still find this service, hopefully near downtown?
