Recent Vinted find - these guys are genuine right?

Saw these guys pop up on a vinted bundle listing with 3 random other untagged 90s beanies. But instantly noticed the old faced teddies. I only paid £15 in total including postage and didn't want to risk losing them by asking the seller for pictures of the tush tags.

From what I can see they're genuine 1st gen tush tags though. And even the brown new face teddy is of the older generation too!

Can anyone confirm my thoughts that they are indeed genuine?

They're obviously missing their hang tags and not mint condition. But actually not too bad apart from some wear to the tush tag. Violet teddy has some marks on the fabric and the tush tag. Would you wash it, or just leave it be to avoid damaging it?

Unofficial "World of Collectibles" tag. Does this hold any value?

I'm from the UK and picked up a bundle at some point in the past that included this Fortune teddy with an extra "World of Collectibles" tag. I know of course that this is unofficial and is just an ordinary Fortune bear and that this show would have just bought 125 of them and slapped these tags on.

But is it worth anything more than an ordinary Fortune bear? It's come from Florida, so I don't know if there's a market for this sort of thing in the US? I only found one listing on eBay with this tag (also from the UK funnily enough) which was for a Curly beanie but also came with the signed card by the football player named on the card. They have it listed for £260 which I know means nothing without seeing the sold listings. But there are no sold listings with this tag that I can find.

So my question is, is there going to be a market for this somewhere? Are there collectors who would be interested in this, or is it just worth the same as an ordinary Fortune - £1 or so.

iPlayer on Chromecast keeps closing after switching apps on my phone.

I've recently started encountering issues with iPlayer on Chromecast where I'll be watching a show, then pick up my phone and switch to an app and it seems to trigger iPlayer to crash on the Chromecast and close.

It doesn't happen every time, but I've noticed a pattern of it happening when I interact with my phone. It's happening maybe 2-3 times in a half hour show.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix for it?

Buying from US sellers - 1) why is postage so cheap, 2) why can't I view the wardrobe?

I've noticed listings from US sellers showing up in my vinted feed and I have a couple of questions.

  1. I've noticed the postage price is barely much more than buying from a UK seller. How can £3 for a parcel? And Vinted cover the import VAT (which in this case is £7.13). How can they afford to do that?

  2. I've also noticed I can't view the sellers wardrobe. When I go on their profile it shows as if they have no items listed, but I've just clicked through from their listing and often there will be multiple listings from the same seller on my feed. So I can't bundle them if I wanted to.

Best techniques for separating exterior and interior walls?

https://preview.redd.it/02fhrc24gngh1.png?width=1170&format=png&auto=webp&s=6396112384497a47871c0787ffbd8a6abac17929

After completing Tudor Corner (which was my first modular and proper big Lego set) I've caught the bug and already bought another two to build. Alongside that, I'm attempting to build my own house with Lego in the Bricklink Studio.

It's a bit clunky, but also good to be forced to think about some of the techniques used in Tudor Corner and how I might be able to apply them to building my own house. One thing it doesn't do (and I think most set don't), is separate the exterior and interior walls. The exterior wall colours simply don't work as interior as well, and I want to use the same colour as my actual painted walls for the interior.

I tried using a second layer of bricks, but this takes up unnecessary space and doesn't look great either. I'm thinking it's going to require use of snot bricks and tiles.

Can anyone advise on the best approach, before I spend time going down the wrong path?

(Side note: I realise I'm going to have to do something with the floors, and use some elevated plates or something.)

International buyers complaining about high postage costs. What can I do?

I've been selling Pokémon cards on eBay for about a year. I occasionally get international buyers, but it's handled through eBay's Global Shipping Programme, so I don't have to do anything different.

I've just had a prospective US buyer message me saying eBay is charging them $50 postage for a single Pokémon card. It would be sent in a 2cm-thick cardboard envelope and would qualify as a large letter in the UK.

I don't remember international postage ever costing anywhere near that much in the past. eBay support has never been much help either - they say they'll look into it and get back to me, then I never hear anything.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea why the postage is so high, or how I can reduce it? I've previously sent a large parcel to the US outside of eBay and it cost nowhere near $50.

Error in listing title and description. Do I need to cancel the sale?

I listed a bunch of Pokémon card bundles on eBay late at night a few weeks ago. I've been making consistent sales.

Today a buyer bought two bundles, but I noticed when going to pack the order that one of them had the wrong title and number of cards in the title and description. (I evidently forgot to change it when using a previous listing as a template). However, it does have the correct number of cards in the main photo and I listed each card in the bundle correctly in the description. (It was just the summary I missed - e.g. "21 cards from Set A" instead of what it should have been "16 cards from Set B" )

My question is, do I need to cancel the order and invite the buyer to repurchase in order to protect myself from an INAD? Or if I message the buyer explaining the situation and the correct details and confirm he's happy to proceed, will that protect me? That particular bundle was £26 so not an insignificant amount.

Has anyone successfully received the GiftCloud voucher sign up reward?

I took out Vodafone Broadband after seeing it on one of the comparison sites (I think Compare the Market) where it had a £140 voucher sign up reward. I got an email before the order was confirmed with a giftcloud token saying I'd receive the voucher within 120 days of signing up and not to contact them before then.

The way the email is worded gave me red flags and makes it sound like a cashback site, where if they say it didn't track properly, then they won't be able to give the voucher. (My experience with cashback sites is that they more often than not, don't track when you have bought an expensive item, and there's nothing you can do about it). Surely by the fact you've send out an email acknowledging I signed up via a link with the reward, you know I've been referred from that link...

I've fired off the request to gift cloud, but I'm curious if anyone here who signed up with a gift card sign up reward actually received it in the end? And if so, how long did it take?

I factored that £140 into the value of the contract, so I'd be majorly annoyed if they refuse to pay it.

Is it time to upgrade my PC? (To make it Windows 11 compatible + run smoother) Recommendations appreciated.

TL;DR: 8-year-old PC is starting to feel slow and doesn't support Windows 11. Should I upgrade the motherboard/CPU/RAM, or just add another 8GB of RAM and try to bypass the CPU requirement?

--------------------------

I've had my pre-built gaming PC for 8 years. The only upgrade I've made in that time was swapping the HDD for an SSD, which made a night-and-day difference and it felt like a brand new PC after that.

These days it's mostly used for web browsing and general admin, with the occasional play of The Sims 4. It still works well for my needs for the most part, but I have noticed it starting to feel a bit sluggish at times occasionally sits on a black screen for ages when booting, with no indication if it's updating or what.

I recently discovered Windows 10 stopped receiving security updates a while ago, but my 7th-gen CPU doesn't support Windows 11, which got me thinking about upgrading. From what I understand, I'd need a new motherboard and CPU, and could benefit from more RAM too. I'm looking for something that'll hopefully be good for another 6–8 years without requiring further upgrades. Something relatively futureproof that isn't overkill for my needs and doesn't break the bank.

I'm not overly knowledgeable about PC hardware, so used ChatGPT to explore some options.

It suggested the following, although it seriously underestimated the price of RAM which I've added in:

DDR5

  • MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi (~£120)
  • Ryzen 7 9700X (£240–£290)
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM (~£400)

DDR4

  • B550 motherboard (~£100)
  • Ryzen 5 5600 (~£150)
  • 32GB DDR4 (~£200)

Alternatively, I could just add a matching 8GB DDR4 stick for about £20 and take the system to 16GB which would be just short of a £300 upgrade. (Would you consider buying the other components used to save money?)

I think the DDR5 option just feels unjustifiable at that price when I don't really use the PC for any major gaming. But I'd be keen to hear opinions/recommendations on alternatives. Is the DDR4 upgrade decent, or would you recommend something else? The alternative is that I don't upgrade at all (apart from maybe adding an extra 8GB of RAM), and just try to bypass the Windows 11 processor requirements (which I've heard you can do), but I feel like this may be inviting problems further down the line if an update gets installed that really isn't compatible with the build.

For ref, here's my current build:

  • Motherboard: ASUS G11CD-K0
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-7400 (7th Gen)
  • RAM: 8 GB (DDR4)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Storage: Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD + Toshiba 1TB HDD
  • System: 64-bit

Can you download/buy the Karaoke albums? And is there a version that is synced with lyrics?

I've noticed the karaoke albums on Spotify tend to only be up for 5 years after the contest, then they're gone. Does anyone know if you can download or buy these versions anywhere?

On the topic of karaoke, the Spotify albums just have the backing tracks, but no lyrics. It would be good if this could be used for actual karaoke without having to know the lyrics of my hand or have a sheet with the full lyrics written out. Does anyone know if anything like this exists for these versions? I know some karaoke places have Eurovision songs of course, but I don't think they would be these official versions.

Item listed at the wrong price and sold instantly.

I listed a few bundles of Pokemon cards, and somehow accidentally listed one I'd valued and intended to list at £40 at £9. (The same price as another bundle at the same time). I'd even mentioned it including a card worth £25 in the description. It sold instantly and I had another buyer message me about it before I even realised the mistake. Had it been an intentional price and I only later realised it was worth more, I would have honoured the sale, but this was a genuine error.

How can I cancel it? I'm willing to take a defect. The only options it gives me to cancel are, "issue with buyers address", "out of stock or damaged" or "buyer asked to cancel", none of which are true.

Can anyone advise?

Potential international buyers being quoted unreasonable postage charges. Why?

I am selling Pokémon cards on eBay. I had a message from an international buyer (Buyer in US, me the seller in UK) asking if there were cheaper postage options as they wanted a particular card. They were being charged £32 for postage to the US.

I don't have any control over postage options other than signing up to the Global Shipping program, but I feel like since the introduction of simple delivery, I've had a lot of issues with potential international sales, with a few buyers saying they don't see any postage option at all despite being from an eligible country.

For an international, tracked large letter to the US, it's only £10.90 through Royal Mail (our main post service here) which is $14.41. This feels more reasonable, so where is eBay getting the $32 figure from?

Can anyone advise?

I've contacted eBay support about similar issues in the past and they're pretty useless, always telling me they'll escalate it and get back within 2 working days which they never do.

Is sharing links to cloud allowed in messages? Best alternative to share docs?

I am in contact with a prospective buyer via ebay messages who's interested in buying a whole collection of Pokemon cards from me which I don't have listed.

I thought the easiest way to share all the photos (hundreds) and a breakdown of all the cards I have (in a spreadsheet) would be to share a link to my google drive for them to browse and see what's included and decide which sets they want.

I've reading conflicting information about if this is allowed or not though. eBay's links policy only mentions that it's not allowed on listings and products.

Links policy | eBay

Does anyone know?

EDIT: Thanks all. I've just resorted to copy and pasting the excel tables into Microsoft Paint (didn't know that was a thing) and saving it as images and sending those.

One off volunteering options in Edinburgh and round about?

I've got a couple of days worth of volunteering leave to use up from work.

Does anyone know of anywhere that takes on one-off volunteers for a day or two round about Edinburgh or West Lothian that isn't going to require extensive training?

It seems like the bigger charities generally only take on volunteers for ongoing positions which I can't currently commit to, so if anyone has any recommendations, I'd be keen to hear.

Why has the share button on my newsfeed suddenly become so sensitive and keeps accidentally sharing posts?

I've been experiencing this frustrating thing when doom scrolling on the Facebook app, often I will accidentally hit the share button below a random post on my newsfeed and it will send it to a contact on messenger whom I've recently spoken to.

Sometimes I'll be able to undo it before any damage is done, but other times it sends it and it's so embarrassing.

I feel like it happens 5 times a day now, and this only started happening over the past couple of weeks, yet I've seen other complaints on here from further back.

Does anyone know why it would only be suddenly happening to me now? And does anyone know of a way to stop it aside from deleting the FB app altogether? I have no reason to have a share button so I'd rather disable it altogether but that doesn't seem to be an option.
