What’s happening to my Pilea

Just got home from 5 weeks away and my pilea is getting browning leaves, why? It’s in pon

Overfertilizing/ Fungi, it’s in low light , at first it grew like crazy but then it started growing small deformed leaves and now they are browning.

Phlebodium ID

At Kew they are keeping a few really beautiful Phlebodiums but we don’t really know the species (or form/ variety), unfortunately even the location/ year of collection has been lost. I would love some help 💚

Hymenophyllum gametophytes (I'm so excited)

Hymenophyllum gametophytes from spores sown on the 07/03/2026, so 3 months and 1 week of growth.

First three images are x250, the last two are x100

They are really slow growers but in the last month their growth rate has "skyrocketed" (in hymenophyllaceae terms). Last month they looked stunted and I thought they where all going to die but today I spotted the tiniest "hairs" or mini tongue shaped structures on the substrate and I quickly made a preparation to look at under my microscope and found this!!

I'm incredibly excited!! I'll probably post the next updates and a cronology of the growth of these plants on r/Hymenophyllaceae so feel free to join!

Help, I need to start feeding

So, around 6 months ago I started transferring all my Alocasias to semihydro (and later all my houseplants) and they’ve been doing amazing, but the 6 months slow release fertilizer lechuza pon has should be running low by now. I have started supplementing a cheap 6-6-6 and It’s growing but the newer leaves have a light green color that for what I now possibly means It needs some Ca, Mg and the rest of the micronutrients (since this cheap 6-6-6 only has Iron). I don’t have any supplements for this things, what could I use? I’m in the EU, in Spain. Also I would like to change the regular fertilizer since I think “tropical araceae” would do better in a fertilizer that’s something like 3N 1P 2K (it can have higher concentration but this proportion) I also have access to really strong fertilizers from 15-15-15 to even higher things, they are for vegetables grown outside, in field , my family uses them since they do a lot of agriculture but this would just burn my alocasias and kill my anthuriums . I have seen that many people recommend Foliage Focus with almost every watering and no supplements at all; it’s quite expensive but I could do it. What do u think?

Also, I know the plant in the pic would love more sunlight but I literally don’t have where to put it and is doing great in there. Also although since spring started it’s been pushing leaves non stop (well it’s a little colony not a single plant) but they are not as sturdy and carboard like as they should be, that’s also why I think it’s missing micronutrients.

Thanks!

Got 3 unidentified anthurium for 6€ each🤩🤩

The seller sold them as Anthurium crystallinum but I think there’s no way they are this species. For me they are Anthurium forgetii. What I don’t know is if this could be a hybrid so I need help. All the leaves are forgetii shaped except for a few young ones in one of the plants that are a bit more lobed, but I also have seen that young forgetii can have this feature. Honestly I’m a hybrid hater… Thanks!!!

Going to UKSW as a biology student next year Erasmus.

Hi everyone! 2nd year I’m a biology student from A Coruña, Spain. Is there anyone here that has gone to this university or knows anything about it? I’m the only student from my degree that’s going to this specific uni and I don’t know anyone that already went there so I’m a bit lost😅. The university itself doesn’t offer any type of accommodation so I don’t really know what to do? What have others done? And is there anything in particular that I should know about this place? Thanks 🙏

Btw I’m also gonna try to enroll myself for an internship/ volunteering at the University of Warsaw’s botanical garden, so if anyone has done anything similar I would love them to share their experiences.

Contemplating my life decisions 🥴🪴

Initially I only sowed this tray of Adiantum capillus-veneris because I wanted to take some pics of gametophyte development for a uni project… I never thought I would get this many sporophytes lol. But now this success has turned growing ferns from spores into my latest obsession.

After 56 days I’ve spotted the first equisetum sporophyte. Compared to other ferns, these develop quite fast.
