Trail runners or boots?

I recently started working as a guide in Bannau Brycheiniog (whoop) and I was looking to treat myself to some new boots. It seems I’m quite naive in this area because my colleagues mostly seem to use trail runners, saying boots are only useful for keeping water out.

One even said ‘ankle support is a myth’.

I don’t want to start a war over this, so any level headed guidance would be good.

Tomato Soup, Caribbean Fish, Rice, Green Beans, Rice Pudding.
6/10 - NHS bland but it did the job.

Just FYI I’ll only talk medical stuff by DM (but happy to share if you have similar experience!) just don’t want it public.

So I just started my dream job - I'm a guide for hiking groups at Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, in Cymru.

BUT

I’m a brown hijabi.
“How long have you been doing this?”
“Our boys will probably need me to give the instructions, or they won’t listen.”
“You don’t expect a guide like you in Wales”

Obviously I’ve had this s**t growing up in a white area, but it’s been 3 weeks and it’s already SO intense.

Anyone else been in a male dominated sector? Any tips to stop me killing someone?

(And no, it’s not a throwaway, but my team is awesome)

Love you girls!

It’s not a big deal, really, but so many people are surprised to see me, I thought I’d share how proud I am to be here.
