Aquila Ferox

AQUILA FEROX,
LORD OF THE SKIES, THE BLOODY TALONED, SLAYER OF MEN.

This little guy is the angriest paladin you know.
Aquila may be small but he is mighty. With his twin blades “the talons” he rains down wicked attacks from above.

Born on a farm, his first memory is of the farmer taking away eggs to sell at market.
On that day he swore his paladin oath of vengeance.
Farmers beware when Aquila is near.

Eye of the Beholder

Eye of the beholder

For weapons Wednesday we have the terrifying “Eye of the Beholder”

Salvaged from the corpse of a beholder, this magical eye has been made into a powerful mace.
Its crackles with magic energy when you wield it. It is warm and feels alive to the touch, with the tough hide of a beholder. The eye blinks and watches.
You are unsure how much sentience the eye retains.

A beholder has a unique and powerful set of eye magics at its disposal so there is a lot to work with here.
When you gain the weapon roll a d10 to see which power the eye has.
You may use its ability once per day.

1.Charm Ray: banishment (1 minute), confusion (1 minute)
2.Death Ray: circle of death (10-foot-radius sphere; 4d6 necrotic damage to all creatures in the area), feeblemind
3.Disintegration Ray: chain lightning (primary target takes 6d8 lightning damage; two secondary targets within 30 feet of the primary target take 3d8 lightning damage each), eyebite (sickened effect; 1 minute)
4.Enervation Ray: create undead (usable regardless of the time of day), polymorph (1 minute)
5.Fear Ray: gaseous form (self or willing creature only), moonbeam
6.Paralyzing Ray: modify memory, silence (1 minute)
7.Petrification Ray: Otto’s irresistible dance (1 minute), wall of ice (1 minute; one 10-foot-square panel)
8.Sleep Ray: blindness/deafness, misty step (self or willing creature only)
9.Slowing Ray: bestow curse (1 minute), sleet storm(one 10-foot-cube)
10.Telekinesis Ray: geas (1 hour), wall of force (1 minute; one 10-foot-square panel)

When wielding it you have advantage on saves Vs magic due to the beholders anti magic cone.

The spider knight

After a wee break to reset, I’m back with some new updates for monster Monday.

Behold
THE SPIDER KNIGHT

Deep in the bowels of the dungeon it prowls. From a distance its armour glints in the low light and its cloak flows. But as it glides closer you see the many eyes contained within. The writhing of a multitude of legs beneath the cloak and the clicking of mandibles and legs hidden underneath it all. The spider knight will strike fear into the hardiest of adventurers.

For more check out my Patreon. Where you will find multiple versions of each thing I post. Detailed descriptions and pictures with no backgrounds for easy use in your games.

I’m also always open to doing custom work of characters or creatures for your games.

Clorf the capable

Today we have ‘Clorf The Capable’
A mighty ogre who wished to be a knight.
Starting out wrapped in rags and wielding a girder he fought off a pack of wolves to defend an old man. This act of bravery led to Syr vex Tyrannus taking him on as his squire. Clorf proved himself many times over, earning himself his signature shield armour (all that would fit him) and his mighty sword skyclorfer.
Clorf is good through and through, an excellent example of a knight. Even when people look at him fearfully for being an ogre he will show kindness and bravery.

The beholder

For monster Monday we have my take on the beholder. This guy is angry at his inability to float and you can hear him coming a mile off with his wet eye feet sploots.

syr Francis the Salamander

I missed Monster Monday so here is Tiny Tuesday.

Syr Francis the Salamander.

A tiny fairy who grew up in the fairy settlement of Auriel in the mountains.

The settlement was built around an ancient sword that was stuck into the mountainside.

The sword was wielded by an ancient knight who died here in the mountains long ago. The sentient sword waited for a new bearer to take it from this place but they never came, so it slept.

Skip forward many generations and the settlement of Auriel has sprung up and a young Francis has dreams of becoming a knight despite his tiny size.
Dubbed the salamander and donning the headdress of the title he dreams of adventure.
This awakens the mighty sword Heartseye.
Wishing to finally leave these mountains the sword speaks to him and promises to show him the world and great adventure if he will take it from here.
An unlikely bearer of this blade but he wields it well.
It grants him access to the enlarge spell so he may double his size and wield the blade.

Tentacle rod

Tentacle rod

This weapon Wednesday is my version of the epic tentacle rod.

Made by the drow, this rod is a magic weapon that ends in three rubbery tentacles. While holding the rod, you can use an action to direct each tentacle to attack a creature you can see within 15 feet of you.
Each tentacle makes a melee attack roll with a +9 bonus. On a hit, the tentacle deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage. If you hit a target with all three tentacles, it must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the creature’s speed is halved, it has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws, and it can’t use reactions for 1 minute. Moreover, on each of its turns, it can take either an action or a bonus action, but not both. At the end of each of its turns, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect.

Hunters Moon

This fragile looking blade is brimming with celestial power.

On a critical hit, the blade is wreathed in dancing white moon-flame, burning with the power of the heavens.
The target takes a terrible blast of radiant damage.

On the night of a full moon the blade will shine brightly and vibrate with celestial power.
During combat it will radiate moonlight around you and all attacks against you have disadvantage because the enemies are blinded by the light.

Additional action idea: during the full moon, On a critical hit target must make a saving throw, if they fail they are teleported to the moon.

The Warhound

For monster Monday we have the terrifying Warhound.
Played by the phenomenal Gordon Kennedy (BBC’s Robin Hood, red dwarf, elden ring and about 500 other things)this relentless warrior persues the king slayer, Xanax moonbeam, through the darkness of the black fortress. Any poor souls who happen to be in the way do not survive long. With his sword, the world’s pain, that melts its victims and hurts to even gaze upon, there is little hope of stopping him. Run or die.
Featuring in the fantastic Hail Chaos podcast.
I’ve loved getting to do artwork for this podcast and its roster of bad ass characters. Look out for more coming soon.

Sandstorm

Its weapon Wednesday so here’s this week’s offering.

Sandstorm.

The golden glowing blade. The ancient writing on the blade glows with an inner power. Motes of glowing sand drift from the blade and become more abundant and agitated as you use it.

sandstorm is a mundane blade until you take a life with it. Then it awakens and it gives you dominion over sand.

Once a day you can summon a sandstorm around you. All attacks against you have disadvantage.

At higher levels you can cast a gust of sand with a swing of the blade.

Be careful though. What has awakened in this blade? And where did it come from? Do they want it back?

Sghetti

It’s monster Monday so here’s our boy sghetti.

Itty bitty sgetti they called me. Since the day slipped from the tadpole soup hole.
For a kobold I was just a lil fella.
My old man “big Ziti” was the big boss of the pit and he liked his milky sons to be the biggest.
My momma, old ravioli had slooshed out more soup into the hole than any other kobold in our pit. She was famous!
And here’s me, itty bitty sgetti, smallest one ever.
Ain’t nobody in the pit gave me any respect.
So I had to be famous for something!
I tried everything, big shoes, a pointy stick, nunchucks even a wig!
But it never got me nowhere.
Then one day we had a raid on this big stone building full of the squishy tall ones.
there was a delicious smelling room. But we couldn’t get in. We tried scratching and kicking and bashing our heads on the door!
Then stoopid rigatoni pipes up “look there’s a hole!”
up the wall was some kinda lil hole.
We all scrambled to get in and wouldn’t ya know lil old me was the only scaly lil wet boi who could fit in it.
So I squeezed my lil way through to the other side and I came out right in the middle of the mother load.
Cheese!
Big round cheese bigger than a slippy boi!
I couldn’t even move, I was hypnotised.
After eating as much cheese as I could I noticed one of the tall squishies in the corner and he was holding a key.
I said “listen here ya big squishy! You stink! Open the door so we can get the cheese’s”
It didn’t understand so I started a bitin!
It got the message and opened the door!
When it flung open and the slippy bois saw me standing there before a mountain of cheese I knew I’d finally made it!
We ate that stinky squishy and we ate that cheese.
It was the best day of my life.

Emberheart

Emberheart

Originally wielded by the legendary dwarven warrior “Irma Ironfist”.

Imbued with the fires of the earths core.
A fiery glow emanates from Deep within the hammer. A great blazing red ruby set into its side. Flames wreathe the hammer and lick its wielder, but never burns them.
The harder you fight the hotter ember heart gets.

On a critical hit emberheart releases an explosive blast in a radius around its wielder.

The Mighty Dragon

Wearing an old battered dragon shaped helmet, scales fanning down the back of his neck. Open faced with a visor that slides down in the shape of the top half of a dragons head and nose leaving the bottom of his nose, mouth and jaw exposed.
leather straps crossed over his chest. a short battle skirt made of strips of leather and metal. Heavy metal banded bracers
And an old tattered scabbard with a very wide sword. the cross guard a dragons mouth that seemed to spit out the blade. Named dragonsbreath

THE MIGHTY DRAGON! as he was once known, or to the the people at the local craft fair “George the deft hand” for his well made crocheted dragons. his dragon shaped candles and small dragon wood carvings. He has a table every Sunday at market to trade to those passing through the town.
He spent his days sitting on his porch eating cheese, drinking wine, crocheting, carving and making candles. He had recently been experimenting with some Lino cutting.
A simple and calm life with nothing that could encourage a rage that may affect his heart condition.

If he’s to fight again he MUST stretch before hand.
He must take his herbal supplement given to him by the local healer.
And after he needs to do some winding down yoga.
