This is just a quick go to guide on the prisms stickers for anyone getting interested in the first pokemon set that Top Seika (トップ製菓)did, commonly just referred to as “Topsun” (トップサン). Every prism has 5 variants, potentially 6 but I have never seen the potential 6th one despite looking for years. The first picture shows all the prism pattern variants (from left to right) - cracked ice (also in picture 2), checkered (also in picture 3), square / block (also in picture 4). The pictures of them close up show how they’d look in the light in a sleeve and loader, so you can try to learn how to differentiate them from each other. Checkered and square / block are where most people stumble. In the light, checkered reflects into a ribbon looking pattern, due to each block being cut in half, whereas square / block is a longer line across each block. The next variant comes in the form of what’s on the back - either トップサン (seen in picture 5) or トップ (seen in picture 6). Theoretically, each one should have the 3 prism patterns with the トップサン back, and the 3 prism patterns with the トップ back. However, I’ve never seen a square / block トップ back label before. The トップサン back labels are the most common, making up what I’d estimate to be at least 95% of the prisms, judging by how many I’ve come across. Also keep in mind, the トップ back ones *are not* errors.

Recently many sellers have been labeling them as such to entice buyers to spend more. I’d like to think it’s a simple error, as topsun is somewhat niche, but even when I reach out to each seller and explain + show proof they never change their listings, continuing to have them labeled as an error.
I hope this helps and please feel free to ask any questions!
