Looking for recommendations

For the first time ever, I’ve started looking closely at the ingredient lists for the products I buy. As for pomade, for the last few years I’ve been using Layrite Original Pomade (blue). Occasionally, I’ll use ImmortalNYC pomade or cream, and sometimes I’ll use gel instead, usually an Eco brand.

I’m not sure whether anything in Layrite could be contributing to my dry scalp, or if this is simply due to the sudden changes my body has been experiencing. For example, I ate peanuts my entire life and recently developed an allergy to them out of nowhere. I've also been dealing with skin irritation, itchiness, and dry skin, mainly on my arms, legs, thighs, and scalp and my face has been more oily lately, while my scalp is dry.

I’m looking for recommendations for a product that’s similar in texture to Layrite (more of a cream than a wax) that is paraben-free and, preferably, fragrance-free, with more natural/clean ingredients and fewer synthetic chemicals. I have thick hair and usually prefer a matte finish, although that isn’t necessarily important to me.

I’m also looking for recommendations for aftershave, facial moisturizer, and moisturizer for my body as well as shower and bath products. I understand this is a pomade group, but if there are Reddit groups related to those products that you would recommend, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance! I appreciate any help and guidance.

Odd thoughts conditioned by reefer madness

It’s been about 5–7 years since I got back into cannabis. Before that, I took a 9.5-year hiatus from it. Without getting into a huge story, during that entire time I was on probation and also spent a majority of that time dependent on prescription pain meds and heroin. Cannabis helped me reduce my intake, break free from that, and continue managing my pain.

I was slow to get back into it and was or probably still am what most people would consider a casual user—maybe once or twice a week. More recently, I’ve been partaking more often, and it’s like I’m falling in love with the plant all over again.

It’s helped me quiet the noise in my head, be more present, and have the energy to do things I would normally procrastinate on. Instead of constantly rushing around thinking about what I have to do in an hour or everything I need to get done, I’m able to slow my mind down, stay in the present, and focus on the moment.

I notice that I’m more productive, focused, relaxed, kinder and more forgiven to myself. Ive never had an issue with treating others with kindness or patience but myself—pshhh. It helps with my body aches and pain, gets me out of the house and distance myself from opiods. I actually really enjoy using it before and after exercising because I feel more connected to what my body is doing.

A lot of the time, I’d find myself avoiding cannabis or feeling guilty about using it, so I’d put off partaking. In a weird way, that almost feels like I’m punishing myself. When I finally take one to three puffs of a vape or a few puffs of a joint, I feel like I live so much more and enjoy life more. A lot of the time, I wouldn’t even say I’m stoned—just calm and present.

The biggest improvement is its allowed me to silence the negative and abusive self-talk in my head. I can be really hard on myself and talk myself into feeling defeated. When I’m able to quiet that voice, I’m more active, I can focus on activities, and I’m more willing to actually take action on things. Its allowed me to introduce small, positive habits and behaviors that I’d normally just talk about but never actually do. I feels like cannabis helps me get out of my own head and actually take that first step.

So, I guess I’m curious if anyone else experiences life or cannabis this way? Not necessarily getting super high, or rolling big donuts although thats fun occasionally but using it intentionally to slow down, be present, and show some love to yourself. Because I’m starting to wonder why I’ve been treating something that seems to bring so many positives into my life like something I should feel guilty about, delay or avoid.

Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

Location settings

Is there any workaround for Fliff's location settings, or any way to change the state associated with an account? I'm in NYC, and I used to be able to redeem my XP for Fliff Coins. I could never redeem for Fliff Cash, but at least the coin redemption worked. Now I can't redeem for either. Is anyone else in New York experiencing this? Any advice? A!m I basically stuck using my Coins for gift cards now? Also, if I redeem for a Visa prepaid card, is there any way to reload those funds into fliff cash account, or is that not an option for NY users either? I've never deposited money into Fliff—I only used the free promotional cash to place bets.

Imported Cigarettes

I have a few friends visiting from overseas who smoke, and they're having a hard time finding the brands they're used to. Does anyone know of a smoke shop with a really wide selection of cigarettes? It doesn't have to be in Jackson Heights—I don't mind traveling somewhere else in Queens or even into Manhattan if it means I can help them find what they're looking for.

The other day they settled for a pack of Dunhills from a bodega, but they ended up being stale and were pretty disappointed. I told them that while Dunhill is a recognizable brand, I honestly don't know anyone here who smokes them. I explained that Marlboro, Parliament, Newport, and Camel seem to be much more common.

They're specifically looking for:

Karelias

Assos

Davidoff

Gauloises

Gitanes

Chesterfield

If anyone knows a place that carries any of these brands or even a shop that specializes in imported cigarettes I would really appreciate the recommendation. Thanks in advance!

Surgery - Pain - Sedated

Next week I am going to be getting four teeth extracted and bone grafts and not going to lie im a bit scared. I am going to be hoping that the use of cannabis can help me with some discomfort or knock me out and keep me sedated enough through the pain over a couple days. I was thinking RSO and Tinctures will probably be my best bet. I am really not sure i should be smoking or vaping after the procedure. Have you recently had surgery and used cannabis or the various different compounds found in cannabis to minimize pain, inflammation, overall discomfort and to keep you knocked out to get through the worse part of the recovery period. Do you have any suggestions on things to purchase? I sincerely appreciate any feedback and recommendations. Id like to try and keep this edibles tinctures or orals based but if there is a specific strain of flower that helped you through some bad pain and inflammation please drop it anyway and ill look into buying flower or concentrate of it to make an edible or tincture or rso from.

Re-useable Shopping Bags - how are you storing and organizing them.

How are you storing and organizing the various types of re-useable shopping bags that you've accumulated over the years? I am shocked at the quantity ive accumulated and am sick and tired of the clutter and it being disorganized.

I try and have a bag for the felt fabric ones that I fold and store in a shopping bag. I have multiple plastic reusable that I flatten and store folded in a re-useable bag. I feel like my system is crap because ill go looking for a bag and then others fall out or i make a mess looking for a specific bag because I have favorites.

I am curious to see how others are keeping theres organized and neat as what im doing is clearly not working.

Buys, fixes, sells damaged phones.

Anyone know of a place in Jackson Heights or the surrounding area that buys or repairs phones?

I have a Samsung Note with a broken screen that's mostly black. I'd like to see if I can sell it rather than just throw it away, even though I know I probably won't get much for it. With the cost of living being higher than ever and trying to cut expenses wherever I can, it seems wasteful throw-away something that may still have some value. I'm sure someone who knows how to repair these phones could fix it up and either use it or resell it. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Recently got a moka pot and im enjoying and beginning to get used to it. I was wondering if anyone has brewed regular coffee in their moka pot successfully instead of espresso. To do this does it require a specific grind? The one time I tried doing this it didnt brew properly and came out like water flavored w a hint of coffee.
