let’s start by slandering jax haters a bit, they:

1. constantly mischaracterize, and outright murder the characters of ragatha, gangle, even zooble and worse of all: Pomni.

the first 3 by representing them as revenge seeking psychos who would beat the absolute shit out of jax (see 2nd slide) when the series shows the contrary.
Gangle didnt tortured jax in episode 4 as soon as she could and rather did it after his poor perfomance as an employee (the most animosity she has shown towards him was to beat a watermelon with his face), she was the one that stood for him during the couch talk on episode 8 and in episode 7 originally se was going to be the one telling jax "that everything was going to be okay", line that was latter given to Pomni

Ragatha is ragatha

And zooble is rude and crude, but they actually give a crap about Jax. They didnt came up with the vegan thing and the maid dress until he started to act like an asshole, they went to check on him on the beach episode even offering him a hand, and in episode 8 they outright call him "one of us"

 

And then there is Pomni... the reason why I started this cruzade.

I saw people slandering my GOAT, saying that she was an enabler, a pick me girl, etc. and I cannot, WILL NOT, let that stand.

 

She is not an enabler. there is not a SINGLE point in the show where Jax does something bad to others and she encourages said behaviors, every time she has given him any positive attention has been when he has acted more casual and approached her first, like the stargazing adventure or episode 6.

 

she voted in favor of making him vegan, when JAX APPROACHES HER during the anime section and calls Gangle a “loser”hg she says "you threw me out of a moving truck" straight up 0 sugarcoating and she BEATS THE CRAP OUT OF HIM at the end of episode 6.

 

Some people will say that not intervening should count as enabling, but they fail to grasp the character of Pomni. She doesn’t rush towards action, rather she observes, analizes and understands so she can figure out the best approach. She tried to talk with gangle on episode 4 and when that didn’t worked she offered to close for her to aliviate her and show support, she thanked ragatha for her support at the end of episode 4 recognizing how kind she had been for her, she tried to give genuine good advice to caine on episode… I don’t remember but she tried.

She was a newbie that didn’t fully understood the dynamics of this already established group, she choose to observe and learn before taking a choice on what should she do.

 

And she isn’t a “pick me” girl either!

 

Jax was the one who approached first, on episode 5 when he asked her how she was doing (she answered normally first but then put her walls up when she realized who she was talking to), episode 5 with making HER the president, stargazing adventure and episode 6.

“but what about Ragatha, Gangle and Zo-“

She thinks things between Ragatha and her are fine

She already extended a hand to gangle on episode 4 + glitch post of gangle drawing all 3 of them together shows that Gangle sees her as a friend, and she seems to be improving on later episodes (before episode 8 ofc)

And zooble is a tough cookie. And remember, SHE WANTED TO TEAM UP WITH RAGATHA on episode 6!

“B-but Jax is an asshole, the fact that she was willing to be his frien-“

She wanted to be his friend both because of what happened to Gumigoo and because of the conversation she had with kinger on episode 3, she saw a pathetic, assholish, unfunny piece of shit that no one liked. She also saw that there was a real human being beneath the mask (episode 4, episode 5 and episode 6), add to that the commentary of Ragatha about him not having friends “anymore” and you understand WHY she approached him

She is a KIND, CARING person who doesn’t want ANYONE, not even someone like Jax, to be pushed aside.

2. they are annoying

they drag the others characters into the slander, misinterpret the show, make strawmen out of the opposition and act like everybody who disagrees with their takes is a jax stan (btw all jax stands defend him bcs they feel identified with him /s)

They also seem like really revenge focused people, like they hold grudges until the end. They don’t want that those that hurt them change and improve as people, they want them to suffer.

They constantly compare real life with an animated show for teenagers, acting as if the way that Jax is treated in the circus somehow means that is okay to enable abusers.

 

3. fail to interpret the themes (and such) of the show, those being expressed by kinger on episode 3: "sometimes it feels pointless, but it is not, NOT IF YOU HAVE PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT YOU --- in this world, the WORSE thing you can do is make someone think THEY ARE NOT WANTED OR LOVED"

Beating, insulting, attacking, isolating jax and etc. they not only go against the entire point of the show but its also EXACTLY what jax wants! He wants to be pushed away and left alone! He wants to be firmly labelled as a simple archetype with no depth!  

Alright, now lets debunk some common points

“jax suffers no consequences”

those things are THE CONSQUENCES OF HIS ACTIONS, being tied up in episode 3, the torture on episode 4, the vegan thing and maid dress on episode 5 and pomni beating him up on episode 6.

All of those things happened BECAUSE of what he did, and they were physical punishments that sometimes included violence that he CLEARLY not enjoyed.

“the others allow jax to get away with his abuse”

“Jax didn’t changed”

In episode 8 he allowed himself to be used by dental floss by caine just so the others could buy enough time, episode 1 jax would had never done that. 
It may had been born partially because he felt tired, but its still change.

 

 

In summary: jax haters fail to see that they are just like a real life version of Jax, but that would be a disservice to jax bcs im sure that if that mf watched TADC he would at least get the general theme of the show, something that his haters clearly cant.

 

And you know what? I get that

 

When I started to watch TADC I too wondered “why don’t they just beat up jax? I would do that if I was in the circus and he started to be an ass” and then the more I saw the more I understood.

Everytime Jax has fucked around enogh to find out he became worse because of it. None of tnhe pain changed him, in the end, what caused him to change was a mixture of genuine kindness and apathy.

He changed when pomni formed a bond with him, when the others didn’t allowed him to wander off and abstract alone, when zooble told him that as much as a pain in the butt he was he also was one of them, when gangle offered him an olive branch in episode 8, etc.

And that was reinforced by the apathy the others displayed when he tried to get a reaction out of them during the café.

 

I get it, I really get it. Jax is very easy to hate and dislike and that is OKAY but please, PLEASE don’t make up shit, lie, slander and murder the characterization of the rest of the cast just so you can make your point better.

If you cant have a discussion about jax without failing miserably to understand the themes of the show then im going to suggest you to go to r/lordoftherings and start a discussion about how aragon is a bad person for not establishing a democratic republic or why the fellowship are stupid for not asking the eagles to drop them directly in front of the volcano. At least then you will be able to larp (because that’s EXACTLY what you are doing here, LARPing about a series that is clearly too complex for you) about something with more gravitas than an indie animated show.
