Which scheme looks better

Painted two infernus marines to see if I can get the raptors formula down. I’m thinking about painting a whole raptors army and there are my test models. I like both of them but I’m afraid the darker one is more dark angels than raptors.

Playing my first game with Tyranids!

Can’t wait to get tabled turn one! 😂 (the raveners and prime with wings aren’t on my list I’m just taking them to show off.)

Possible dumb question

Hey all. I’m new to 40K and building my first ~1000 space marine army. I love the lore, concept, and color scheme of the deathwatch, but I’m incredibly intimidated by learning the game while trying to remember everything involved with DW. I was wondering if I could just paint up my marines as DW but run them as generic space marines. Is this a common thing? I’m stuck deciding on a chapter to paint.

Gameplay question

So I’m pretty new to 40K and I’m building my first SM army. Since I don’t know the rules super well yet the models I bought are very slow and tanky. (Captain in gravis armor, eradicators, aggressors, etc.) I really like the raptors chapter, colors, etc. and was thinking about painting my whole army as raptors but I’m not planning on having a sneaky and tactical play-style yet. I know raptors change their tactics depending on the mission so I’m assuming it’s not totally out of the question to play a slow tanky raptors team? I know rules wise it doesn’t matter too much but I’m caught up in canon and thematics.

Deathwatch kill team

Finally got around to painting these guys. Really stoked with how the armor came out.

Painted my first seraphon today!

Got the mini of the month and really enjoyed painting it. Might just have to go back and buy a spearhead box.

Ready to run the Ambull missions

The more I work with speed paints the more I enjoy them. Not as much as good ole acrylics but they’re fun. Not winning golden demon or anything but I’m excited to see this guy on table top.

Finished painting my Tyranid infestation terrain.

When I first started my hobby journey I bought into the speed-paint hype only to realize it’s not a “one coat and you’re done” solution. I put them down for a while but decided to practice dry brushing and then using speed paints. I think this turned out rather nice.

How to fix combat patrol

Hey all. Apologies if this has been posted before and also sorry for the flair being a little misleading. I’m New player to 40K and the idea of combat patrol (smaller army battles overall) is what convinced me to finally jump in and take the plunge. I was super excited about the idea of everything you need to play in one box.

The farther I got into the hobby (I’m about 6 months in) the more I realized combat patrol is fairly flawed and now, with the roll out of 11th edition, it doesn’t seem to be getting any more balance or support from GW.

I’ve been racking my brain, with VERY limited knowledge, of how to fix combat patrol and have come up with nothing. I know some YouTube channels - play on tabletop’s king of the colosseum comes to mind - have created a pseudo-work-around to make these 500 point games feel fresh and fun without too much lopsidedness to it.

My point of posting this is mainly asking what homebrew methods have you used to make combat patrol more balanced? Or is the answer just 500 point matches and call it good?

Semi-finished raptors AoD kill team

I’ve been working on getting better at miniature painting and I’m happy with my progress. I thought the raptors would make a perfect chapter for my kill team. I still need to paint the capes BUT, other than that, I’m pretty proud of these guys.

Painting camouflage

Hey all. I’m currently painting the Angels of Death kill teams as raptors. Both the sniper and the captain have capes and I would love to paint them camo but I’m not sure how, as I’ve never done it. Any tips or tricks? Also,if you have ever painted raptor marines with capes and didn’t paint it camo, what color did you color the capes?

Organizing your pieces

Does anyone have any advice for organization and storage? I keep everything in the bags they came in but I’d love a more efficient system. Open to all suggestions.

Desperate post incoming:

Married (32M) looking to make friends in the area. Moving to Tacoma (or close to it) in a few months and would love to make some connections. My main interests and hobbies I’m into are heavy metal (specifically death/black/extreme), war games/TTRPGs/boardgames (just getting into warhammer 40K and trying to learn the rules), movies (I’ve seen the extended edition of LotR more times than I can count), and sports. I drink occasionally and am 420 friendly.

I’m married with no kids and a career, so if any of these things resonates with you feel free to reach out!
