Free electric

Hi,

Relatively new to edf (6th September).

I joined on the go electric tariff from octopus iog and have chose not to connect to the smart charge option as the 7 hours overnight fixed suits me better. I managed to register for the ‘power perks’ yesterday as before it was saying you don’t qualify.

My question is are the sessions totally random and how often are they ie once a month or once every six months?

TIA

Switching from sky stream

Hi,

We’re having major issues with the sky stream pucks. Programmes switching off, sound going out of sync, technical faults you name it we’ve had it. We’ve had sky engineer out no improvement we’ve even had new pucks delivered no improvement. I’ve managed to agree with sky that we can leave with no fees for ending contract early. My question is…. Is nowtv actually any good or will the issues be the same as I’ve read mixed reviews. My plan would be to get an Apple box for the front room as I believe these are the best currently available (unless someone knows one better?) and a fire stick for the bedrooms as we don’t really watch much tv upstairs. We had the full package with sky stream and were paying £111/m so is now tv worthwhile switching too?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance.

Sky stream

Hi,

We’ve had sky stream for approx 18 months and the puck in the main living room over the past 2/3 months is being a pain! It just randomly stopping and the stream goes black, the sound is often distorted and forever shows ‘waiting for programme to load’ and ‘there is a technical issue with this channel’ we are on the gigafast max broadband with speeds of approximately 904 so the internet is fine. We’ve had an engineer out and he showed us his tablet and he said there hasn’t been a day for the last month where the signal hasn’t been interrupted (there were red dots on every date) I’ve also had numerous lengthy phone calls with technical and performed factory resets which hasn’t resolved the issue.

Does anyone else have this experience and did they get it resolved? What should be my next steps?

My feeling is I’ve been a customer for 20 years or so and pay a good amount for the tv each month for a service that basically isn’t for for purpose, however I’m locked into a plan for the next 18 months.

Apologies for the long post.

Smart charging

I’ve recently switched from octopus IOG as their smart charging was a bit of a shit show. I’ve seen edf do similar and wondering if it works better?

Also I am getting solar installed with a battery in mid October and am reluctant to switch to the smart charge as I’ve read that the battery will just dump its charge into the car if it decides to charge outside the night hours ie I’d ideally want to lock the battery to charge overnight at the cheap rate, but if for example the smart charger kicks in at like 2000 the battery would automatically unload in the car if that makes sense…

Does anyone else have any experience this?

Thanks

Go electric after switch

My switch from octopus to edf was completed midnight 2nd/3rd September and I’m still awaiting being switched to the go electric tariff I signed up too. I know the smart meters are connected ok as I’m getting usage reading on the app. Is it normal to take this long?

Total Newbie

As the headline says I’m a total newbie to solar, I’m getting 12 x panels, fox ess 5.0kw hybrid inverter and a fox ep12 11.52kw battery fitted in a couple of weeks. Am I right to assume that during the winter I force charge the battery at 7p pkwh over night to 100% and have the fox app set to self use during the peak rate? If I’ve understood correctly the house will run off the battery and any solar generated will keep the battery topped up? I’m not too concern with exporting to start with as the main purpose I had was to lower the usage in the peak rate. I’ll look deeper into export at the beginning of next summer, say march.

Recently switched

Hi, I have requested a switch from octopus today and chose 3rd September as the date, my question is I’ve read about the smart charge bolt on. You don’t HAVE to take that do you? As that’s the main reason I left octopus, I just want the 6/7 hour cheap electric overnight..

Thanks.

Remortgage and hpi valuations with Nat west

We’re looking to remortgage early next near and preferably just do a product switch with Nat west. My question is about their hpi valuation, does anyone know when it updates on the portal and how often, and why does their valuation seem so low in comparison to nationwide (20k difference)?

Bored of IOG

I’m getting bored of the octopus smart charging issues. Am I right in saying that if I disconnect my Indra charger and just schedule directly with that for 2330-0530 every time it’s plugged in, then once a month reconnect it and do 1 smart charge this will satisfy octopus so as not to remove me from IOG?

Installers

Hi, has anyone had an installation done by Reddington Construction Services LTD, based in Keighley?

I’ve placed an order with Glow Green and have an install date of 18th September, I rang them to check who was carrying out the work to check reviews etc and the company they told me was what seems like a small local firm from Rochdale that weren’t MCS approved, when I looked into them they only had 8 reviews and basically hadn’t ever installed any solar 😂🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ve just got off the phone to glow green and told them they definitely aren’t doing the job and they have swooped the installers to Reddington who are MCS approved and look from what I can see to be a better more capable company, however I’m struggling to find any reviews.

If anyone has used them that could let me know how they were that would be great.

Thanks.

Anyone else getting this?

Hi, is anyone else experiencing this? It seems to be every time I charge. They could literally be charging me anything. My car is plugged in most nights and not a great deal is added each time. It’s always charged to 100% by the morning but I don’t know why it’s going over the 6 hours as there’s only ever very little added. Could be time to switch to edf.

Quote check

Hi, all the sums I’ve done seem to work just don’t know if the price quoted is expensive, it’s the cheapest we’ve had and it’s with glow green, we had octopus and they were 3k dearer with a smaller battery.
