Second Turbo Failure on a 2017 Honda CR-V 1.5T – Oil Feed Screen Clogged Again

I'm dealing with my second failed turbocharger on my 2017 Honda CR-V 1.5L Turbo. After tearing it down, I found the turbo oil feed screen/filter completely clogged.

This has me wondering: does Honda effectively expect oil changes every 3,000 miles on these engines? Even with regular maintenance, a 140,000-mile engine is going to have some level of sludge buildup over time. It seems unrealistic to expect the oil feed screen to remain perfectly clean forever.

I'm about to install another turbocharger and had a couple of questions:

  1. Has anyone simply removed the turbo oil feed screen/filter altogether? If so, have you experienced any issues afterward?
  2. While I'm in there, how much additional work is it to get down to the head gasket? I've watched a few videos online and generally follow repair procedures pretty well. I've replaced most components on this vehicle over the years, just not major engine internals. Is a head gasket replacement something a reasonably experienced DIYer can tackle, or is it a much bigger jump in complexity?

Any advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Also this car was bought from the dealer not too long ago, and the first Turbocharge failed a month after, will the dealer have know there's a problem with the car but still sell it anyways? Just wondering if they check compression of the turbocharged before putting it on the lot.

Shutter drag at St.Paul. the sky was literally split in half today. London spring is wild. Zero commercial application, at least I had fun experimenting, what do we think?

Is shutter drag only effective doing night time?

Just got a new camera couple month a go. I wanted to start experimenting more with techniques, currently on shutter drag. Was wondering if anyone can help me 😊 with some rookie questions.

  1. Is shutter drag only effective at night time? Or maybe compositions with high contrast? Like a super dark and super light area?
  2. What’s a typical shutter drag speed? I took the photo above with shutter speed of .4 seconds.
  3. When you are taking shutter drag photos, what’s going through your head? Do you kinda look at what’s stationary and what’s moving?

Any tips are welcome. Thanks in advance.
