Need a recepie to impress my co-workers

We’ve been going through a really stressful time at work lately because our company moved, and my coworkers have been so kind and have worked so hard that I’ve been thinking about baking them some muffins or a cake for Monday. They’re very curious about the fact that I’m vegan, ask a lot of questions, and are always eager to try new things, so I’d like to show them just how delicious vegan cake can be. The problem is that I don’t bake very often and don’t know any good recipes. So I wanted to ask if anyone has a good vegan cake (or muffin) recipe that’s guaranteed to turn out well, so I can surprise my coworkers on Monday?

I need a little encouragement that things will get better again

Guys, I need a little encouragement that things will get better again, because I’m totally desperate right now 😭 I have two rescued pigeons who are both afraid of me because I had to give them medicine, and I think they’re generally a little afraid of people.

Things were just starting to get a little better, they were curious about me, liked the new cage I got them (they even went in on their own even once before everything got downhill),but then I had a vet appointment, and now their trust is shattered again. They’re having problems, so I have to give them medicine again (probably still waiting for the vet to call me back).

Yesterday I had to let them sleep outside their cage because I didn’t want them to be forced inside, and I’m trying to slowly get them used to sleeping inside without having to force them.

And today I came home from an absolutely terrible day at work and found them in the kitchen, where they have no business being (which they know, too!). Somehow they managed to slip through the fabric I’d stretched across the opening.

I feel like right now it’s one step forward and two steps back. Has anyone had a similar experience and can tell me if things eventually got better?

What's your clean up routine?

So I have two rescued pigeons, and they’re currently getting used to each other and to their new situation. They now have a new crate (a dog crate) where they’re supposed to sleep at night (still working on that).

the rest of the day, they’re allowed to roam around my room. For now, I just clean up after work and in the evening, and wipe things down with a kitchen towel and some disinfectant spray. In the evenings, I run my robot vacuum/mop (of course, only after I’ve cleaned up the droppings). I have sheets draped over my furniture, which I wash about every three days. I hope that, over time, I can potty train them, but since I’ve read that this doesn’t work for every pigeon, and it certainly isn’t working yet, as they’re still settling in.

How do you keep your apartment clean?

Do you have any tips or ideas?

How to get them back in their cage?

I have two rescued pigeons, and since both needed medical care, they’re afraid of hands and are generally a bit skittish. Right now, they’re free to roam around my room most of the time, but putting them back in their cages (they currently have separate cages so they still have a safe place to retreat to while they get to know each other) takes a very long time: I wait until they go inside, and then I have to slip the lid over their heads, which works, but requires a lot of patience. Tomorrow their new cage will be ready, and they’ll move in together—it’s an XXL dog crate, and I want them to stay in it at night and be let out again in the morning. Does anyone have any tips on how to make getting them into the cage go smoothly?

Is this normal socializing behavior?

I have two rescue pigeons: Gracie and Bella. Gracie is about five months old (I think) and I’ve had her for two months. Bella moved in with us last week; she’s about two months old and has an amputated leg. For now, they’re sleeping in separate cages, but they’re out together during the day. Bella loves Gracie and wants to copy everything she does. But I get the feeling that Gracie gets annoyed with her and keeps pecking at her whenever she sits in spots that Gracie considers hers. For example, there’s a spot that Gracie didn’t even know existed until Bella flew there. And now Bella isn’t even allowed to stay there anymore, because as soon as she tries to land, Gracie goes after her.

I don’t think Gracie actually dislikes her, they often spend time together in both of their cages (with the door open but in the same cage at the same time), and she seems very interested in Bella, wanting to be near her and see what she’s doing, but then she acts mean again.

Is this normal?

Is there anything I can do to help them get used to each other faster or better?

How long should I wait before I can put them together? (They’ll be moving into a larger cage that’s new to both of them .)

How to bond best with a young rescue pigeon

Yesterday I got a pigeon that had its leg amputated just four days ago. She’s still pretty young and needs medication for her injury. When I pick her up to give her the medicine, she makes chirping sounds.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can make her feel safe with me, even when I have to pick her up to give her the medicine?

And how old do you think she is?

Which cage would be the best?

I'm currently looking for a used cage for my two rescued pigeons. One of them has an amputated leg.

I'm only interested in the cage itself, not the interior accessories.

I'd appreciate any tips ✨

1st picture (stackable cage) – no exact dimensions given, but it’s labeled as “Large”

2nd picture (dog crate) 122 × 76 cm

3rd image: (house-shaped cage) 112 × 68 × 154 cm

4th image: (blue cage) 62.2 L × 43.2 W × 135.9 H in cm

What do you think about cages like this?

Found these pics on Pinterest and was wondering if a cage like this would be a suitable home base for a pigeon?

Should I keep her?

A few weeks ago, I (nb27) rescued a pigeon—Gracie. She had a severe crop injury and was almost put down. I convinced the vet to give her a chance, and although there were some complications, she’s recovered.

The wound has almost completely healed, and she’s only missing a few feathers on her chest.

So technically, I could release her soon.

But the thought of this sweet, silly bird having to fend for herself on the street just breaks my heart.

On the other hand, she’s a bit skittish when you get too close to her (probably because I had to give her medicine and clean her wound and stuff). I want what’s best for her and don’t really know what that is right now. Part of me wants her to be free and able to fly around with her flock, but I also want her to be safe and loved.

She’s allowed to fly around my room when I’m home, and once she flew into the window (luckily she didn’t hurt herself), but I’m afraid to lock her up against her will. Otherwise, she seems pretty happy—she preens, is curious, and likes it when I sing to her.

The downside to keeping her is that I work full-time and so I’m not home all day, but I’ve been thinking about maybe adopting a second pigeon from the shelter so she won’t be alone.

What do you think? Does anyone have any advice? I feel so torn

Why is my resque pigeon doing this?

Is this behavior normal? She is able to fly (even if it looks a little bit wonky but that might be because she isn't used to flying inside?)

She only did this while she was outside her cage and in chill moments so she wasn't scared or something in the video for example we were listening to music.

Has anyone recommendations for soldering irons (for soft soldering)

A while back, I experimented a bit with soft soldering and made the rings in the picture (lead-free, of course). I really enjoyed it and would like to get better at it.

The tip of the soldering iron I used melted after a while because it wasn’t designed for soldering jewelry.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which one I should buy or what I should look for?

How to befriend my rescue pigeon?

I rescued a pigeon (around 6 months old) last week. She had a maggiore ingurie at her crop, I brought her to the vet where she got surgery, now she lives with me at least for a few months till shes fully healed (then I'll assess with the local pigeon protection association if it's better to release her or keep her in).

Now to the issue: she's extremely anxious and tries to kick my ass every time I come near her. I try to pick her up as little as possible, basically just to give her her meds and check on her weight.

Since we'll live together for at least a few months I want her to like me or at least don't be so afraid of me. When I just hang out in the same room as her cage is in shes really interested and seems calm. Is there anything I can do to make her less angry/scared at me? I know it takes time and she's obviously gone through a lot but does anyone have tips for me?

I'm making blooming lace top by crochetbybelladonna. Does this look right?

I'm making the blooming lace top by crochetbybelladonna and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

The pattern says to keep crocheting increases as in row 3, so that's what I did. Now the sleeves have turned out really pointy, and I'm not sure if that's supposed to happen. Has anyone else crocheted this top and can tell me if it looks right?

Why is she standing in her mash bowl instead of eating it?

Hi Yesterday I secured a pigeon with a crop injury off the street. Today morning she went in for surgery to stitch up the wound at the crop.

The vet told me to just feed her bird mesh (Nutribird), she said in the best case she would eat it by herself, but now she's standing inside the bowl instead of eating it.

Why is she doing this, and how can I get her to eat?

Also do you think it would be fine to give her a (warm not hot) hot water bottle to sit on?
