I accidentally paused my TV on this frame.
The premise, that mutants are sociopaths, is a base-breaking trash premise. Feels like rehashed christian fundamentalism shitshit I was told growing up: “all queers are perverts and chomos.” It really, really left a gross taste with me. This work felt like the antithesis of an Xmen story.
The storyline dragged on and on and on before finally mercifully killing itself. The plot was idiotic (albeit not as idiotic as the idiots writing it or the idiots in editorville who thought this vile putrid refuse was a good idea).
The entire story centered on men, with women serving no role except as disturbing villain or useless prop. Plus, there were only three in the whole story, one of which was dead. This story failed the Bechdel test so hard Chris Claremont will roll in his grave when he dies, hopefully creating a singularity which consumes the foul world which put this forth.
We could have had Jean Grey in a trench coat and fedora. We could have had Emma Frost wearing a completely see-through flapper gown and nothing else. We could have had Magneto remove his clothes to go skinny dipping with Charles. We got none of that. Not only did they give us a plateful of shit, but they deprived us of what truly wonderful things could have been.
This book feels like an Xmen book written by the Friends of Humanity. I hope the authors either repent or get jock itch, whichever comes first.
