Was Matt Damon chosen to be Odyseus literally just because of the "bring Matt Damon home" movie trend?
His previous movies:
Saving Private Ryan (1998): An entire military squad risks their lives to find and bring Private Ryan home.
All the Pretty Horses (2000): His character travels to Mexico and has to make a arduous journey back to Texas.
Gerry (2002): Two friends get lost hiking in the desert and wander trying to find civilization.
Interstellar (2014): He plays a stranded astronaut on an ice planet desperate for a way off.
The Martian (2015): He plays astronaut Mark Watney, stranded alone on Mars requiring a massive global NASA rescue.
This is far too much of a coincidence, is this why they chose a very american dude to play one of the most famous greek heroes?
