QC my idea regarding what I want to do with my interior

So my car is 98% autocross/track use. I don't know why, but I've still got a compulsion to pretend it's a street car. As such, the interior still looks almost entirely stock aside from the seats, harness bar, and 5pt harness.

I'd like to upgrade the center pedestal though to be more functional, but retain the stereo for the few times I listen to music. I want to use most of the space for a switch panel and maybe a mount for my two-way radio.

So here's the plan

  1. Convert to a double DIN setup. This will increase the available space.

  2. Build a plate to fill the space. Probably aluminum or plastic.

  3. Get a marine 3" head unit. I don't really care about the waterproof nature of marine units, but they generally have a much smaller form factor than automotive ones.

  4. Build out the switches I need (transmission circulation, hard-wired radiator fans, etc).

Thoughts? Am I an idiot? What am I not considering here?

Turning a Tundra into a livewell?

I'm planning a move in a few months and trying to figure out how to safely move the fish in my saltwater aquarium. My idea is to try to turn my Tundra 65 into an aerated cooler. My idea is to get a spare plug, drill a hole in it, and run some aquarium hose through it to an air stone inside the cooler.

Has anyone done anything like this? Any lessons learned I should consider?

Just joined the sub. Here's my irredeemable POS

"What have you done to it?"

All of it. There's very little original left on this car. LS3 swap, rebuilt torque tube, rebuilt/improved transmission, coilovers, spherical bushings, crashed the fuck out of it at the track a few years ago and rebuilt as a widebody, and a bunch more.

How many people are on ZERO prescription meds?

I had a physical with the VA a few weeks ago. The NP who did it seemed shocked that I am not, nor ever have been on any long term prescription meds. I've had the occasional run of antibiotics or painkillers for their respective needs, but nothing long term.

Am I really some kind of exception? Is everyone else my age hooked on drugs?

I do occasional track day stuff with my car, and when I do, my dad likes to play spotter. I've tried using cheap little earbud/boom mic setups before, but they never worked well due to the noise. I just bought a proper helmet kit and wheel-mounted switch.

My problem is how mount it all. The helmet is easy, but the placement of the radio is the tricky part. It needs to be close enough to the wheel to still get to the PTT switch. I also want it to be up high so it has the best chance of the signal not being blocked by the car.

It's a C5 with more or less stock interior (everything stock but seats). I'd prefer not to go drilling the car if I can avoid it, so does anyone have any ideas for a good mounting solution for this?

I've got a 2003 Corvette. I primarily run Autocross with it, but I've got a second set of wheels sitting in a box that I bought before they were discontinued.

I only do one, maybe two track events a year. Should I bother buying a second set of tires for track use to preserve my autocross tires (RE-71RZ) or just run the autocross tires and accept the additional wear/heat cycles on them? A set of tires for this car run ~$2000, so it's neither option is particularly cheap.

I got a set of 4 of these given to me by a friend of my dad. I guess his son bought them some time before he passed away in 2010 and have been sitting in storage ever since. Digging around on the internet, I believe these are Enkei LM1/5S. Bolt pattern according to the inside of the spoke is 114.3x5.

The tires are over 20 years old, so they're obviously junk. The wheels are in rough shape too. There's significant curb rash on them, plus at least one is dented at the rim. I'm not even sure if they're repairable.

Are these even worth hanging on to and trying to sell maybe at a swap meet or yard sale? I don't really want to sink any money into them to get them repaired/refurbished unless they're some collector item that will be significantly more valuable if repaired.

Let me know what I've got here and what the best thing to do with them is.

Jared Isaacman is a fellow Xennial. He remembers the old days of 9 planets. Prior to becoming NASA Administrator he also proposed a self-funded mission to service and boost the Hubble Space Telescope because he grew up on a steady diet of Hubble porn like we all did
