Book with a similar vibe to Over The Garden Wall?

OTGW is my Autumnal cartoon comfort show and I’m wondering if there are any books that give the same vibe as the show? Vintage, slightly spooky, wholesome, found family, Fall, slight mystery, etc.

Note: I’m thinking something similar to TJ Klune’s House in the Cerulean Sea but more Autumnal and slightly spookier.

How long do we think it will be for Berry to get exposed as a buddy troll?

For those of us who have eyes and two brain cells to rub together it’s clear that Berry Parm is a buddy troll. She’s been winding Rosie up with false or over exaggerated tales of what’s happening online, she reports every single word that people are saying about Roz, she has gotten into arguments in peoples chats, and she’s even convinced Rosie that people were trying to dox her (girl nobody gives a fuck about you!). She’s clearly not Roz’s friend and now that the gamergurl situation has blown up in Roz’s face, and Berry has self-exposed her new screen name so she’s still easy to identify, how much longer are we betting it will take for Berry to get exposed? Because I feel like we’re reaching the peak. I cannot wait for the crashout. This discord server may not even survive a full 2 months with Roz and Berry at the helm.

Career spread I did for myself

I’ve been having mounting problems with my supervisor at work and plan to have a meeting with HR and that person this coming week. I asked if there was anything the universe wanted to tell me before I go into my meeting and these are the cards I drew. Yes, I personally use the reverse meanings. Curious to see if anyone else thinks I might be missing something. But overall it’s looking like I’m going back on the job market soon and I should leave my current job.

Reverse 3 of wands: I’m being blocked by an obstacle at work and it’s causing me to be stagnant in my career. I should also look out for new opportunities to move around this obstacle.

Reverse hierophant: The current work structure I’ve been operating under has become stifling and toxic and I have outgrown it. Make my own way and establish my own rules to restore order to my career.

Death: The time to close this professional chapter of my life has come. I’ve held on for as long as I could but it’s time to move on to new paths.

Let me know what yall think.

Suggestions for privacy with our new door.

We just got a new door installed and we love it. The outside has a tint so during the day you can’t see inside. But at night, if a light is on in the house, you can very clearly see inside. Looking for suggestions on ways to keep the door private at night but keep the view to the outside clear during the day.

Looking for advice on pens.

Any tips on fonts I can copy for practice or pens that will help me control my writing better? I have never liked my handwriting but I have noticed that certain pens are much easier for me to write with if I’m trying to be neat. But I am trying to get better with using thin tipped pens so my writing isn’t so “scratchy” looking. And overall I know I need to slow down when I write. I’m always in a hurry when writing for some reason.

How stupid is this policy from my company on how to handle lulls in billable work?

For background, I work at an engineering firm and I am a salaried employee. Because of the nature of my work, we charge our time to individual projects rather than just having a blanket “you worked 8 hours” on your timesheet. So everyone has to keep track of how many hours they worked on what. I am also on a hybrid schedule and WFH 2 days a week.

So the company policy is that if I don’t have any project work to do then I should be charging my time one of our overhead tasks. That’s all well and good. However, I have to be in office if I’m going to be charging significant time to overhead. To me that doesn’t make any sense. They are saying I have to give up my WFH days if I don’t have any billable work to do. So my company specifically wants me to come into the office so I can twiddle my thumbs at my desk just in case someone has a task I can do? All of my projects are out for QC or we’re meeting with clients next week so I’ve got a totally open schedule for right now. So that means that this week I literally have to go in everyday and just stare at my computer for 8 hours to “look busy”. Point being, why does it matter where I’m working from because the same amount of work is going to be accomplished no matter what location I’m in.

:Edited for clarity. I don’t think I was explaining myself well enough in the first draft:

I don’t like my handwriting but there are people who’ve said they do. What do y’all think?

These are just some work notes I took during a meeting.

I am desperate for tips on cleaning my dishwasher. Yes I’ve cleaned the filters, run a vinegar cycle, and used cleaning tablets.

Hi all. As the title says I need help cleaning my dishwasher and I’ve tried all the conventional methods multiple times. All filters have been cleaned, I’ve used affresh tablets multiple times, I’ve run a cup of vinegar through an empty dishwasher cycle, and this was all done after wiping down all the surfaces I could reach with dawn and a cloth. Still there is major water scum buildup that won’t go away unless I wipe at it! And I physically cannot get into all the locations that need a good scrubbing. The racks themselves even have buildup on them! I have almost seriously considered taking a pressure washer to the whole inside out of frustration!

I never had a problem with this buildup when I was using “cheap” dishwasher liquid. All these problems started after I switched to using the “premium” dishwasher pods that were supposed to leave the dishwasher cleaner with every use. I went down a rabbit hole and now know that dishwasher pods actually suck and you should be using gel or powder in your dishwasher for best results. Also, fill the pre-wash tray with the same liquid for a better clean. Anyway, my dishes come out fine but how do I get rid of all the water scum buildup that doesn’t require me to be somehow climb inside the washer and go at it with a toothbrush? Unhinged methods are welcome at this point!

My first time making baked oatmeal. Thanks for inspiring me.

I’ve been thinking about making this since I first saw images of y’alls delicious baked oatmeals in this sub. Here’s my first attempt at apple, cinnamon baked oatmeal. Made with flax seeds instead of eggs and using steel cut oats.

Can I make baked oatmeal with traditional cut oats?

I have mistakenly bought traditional oats rather than rolled oats TWICE now. I would like to make a batch of baked oats but all the recipes I’ve seen say to use rolled oats. Has anyone had success or can share a recipe for baked traditional oats?

Cabbage recipe request update: thank you!

Thank you for all the cabbage recipes y’all have provided in my other post. You have opened my eyes to all the ways I can be using cabbage. Last night I made Finnish cabbage casserole that someone recommended and it was really good! I’ll try a Vietnamese pizza variant next 🥬

Cabbage recipe ideas

I’ve been trying to get into eating cabbage for years and the only way I’ve found I like it is in Korean veggie pancakes. They’re delicious but I have to use a decent amount of oils and flour when I make mine. What are some of y’all’s favorite, lower calorie, ways to use cabbage?

Are there any other moms on here who are studying for or have recently passed an exam? I’m looking for tips on how you managed working full time, taking care of a child, and also studying.

Background: I took my Fundamentals of Engineering Exam a few months before I got pregnant and did not pass. I had a horrible pregnancy and felt so worn out every single day that I did not study and was not able to retake the exam before I gave birth. My LO is now 13 months old and this exam is still hanging over my head. It’s an exam to get a professional certification. So I don’t have a deadline to take it, but I feel like I’m falling behind my coworkers the longer I put it off.
