Looking for a netcup alternative

I've got a root server at netcup right now and I'm wondering if I can do better for the money. Current specs:

  • EPYC 9634, 8 dedicated cores
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 512 GB SSD
  • 2.5 Gbps
  • about €25/month

I host a ton of stuff on it (Docker, APIs, some bots, etc) and the disk is already over 80% full, so storage is my main problem. RAM gets used a lot too. CPU is mostly idle, but every now and then I run Immich machine learning jobs that max it out for a few hours.

Netcup has been fine, I just want to know if there's something with the same performance for less, or more disk/RAM for around the same price. EU based.

Anyone have recommendations?

UPD: Another strike for Spam

This post is an update of this one

Guess what, I stopped using Discord for a while. Today, I used an ephemeral bot command in a DM, and suddenly I got hit with a captcha. Fine, I actually solved the damn captcha, and then I get a popup telling me to verify my email or phone number.

So I get logged out and then i login back and guess what, i have another account strike.

LIKE, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

I literally did everything Discord asked me to do. I solved the captcha, I tried to verify, and somehow I still end up getting punished.

Note: I am using Cloudflare WARP, but i got the other spam violation by using my own fucking VPN

I don't know what to do, I'm so fucking pissed off.

Block Apple Private Relay

Hi there

How do I block Apple Private Relay? Note: I would like to create a custom rule instead of using the setting.

Do you have a screenshot of what pops up when I apply that rule?

Tailscale DNS settings on shared tailnet

Hi guys

I’m trying to set up Pi-hole with Tailscale for a friend. I have a server running Pi-hole in my own tailnet, and I wanted to share it with my friend’s tailnet.

To make the setup easier, I asked my friend to invite me to his tailnet and give me admin permissions. My idea was:

  1. Accept the invitation to join his tailnet as his tailnet admin

  2. Share my Pi-hole device from my tailnet to his tailnet.

  3. Go to the Tailscale admin console on DNS settings.

  4. Add the IP address of the shared Pi-hole device as the nameserver.

  5. Enable "Override local DNS".

However, I noticed that the DNS configuration only applies to my own device. It does not seem to affect my friend’s devices, even though I am an admin in his tailnet.

Is there any way to configure this without sharing accounts or asking him to do the setup himself?

Also, why does Tailscale behave this way? If I am an admin of the tailnet, shouldn’t I be able to manage DNS settings for all users?

How does X determine the Android app region?

I'm currently physically located in the United States (I'm in Cali) but X keeps showing Italy Android app in my account info

Is there any way to change this from the Graphene OS settings or similar?

This is my setup:

- I'm physically in the US.

- My IP address is from the US.

Note: my phone is still set to the Italian time zone.

I also have an Italian SIM card inserted.

I'm trying to understand what X uses to determine the Android app region. Is it based on the SIM's MCC/MNC, the device region, the time zone, the store country, or something else?

Has anyone looked into how X determines this?

Does GL.iNet support wildcard domains for VPN bypass?

I'm trying to set up policy routing on my Beryl 7 so a specific domain and all its subdomains bypass my WireGuard client and go straight through the WAN.

Basically, I want to whitelist:

  • example.com
  • *.example.com

Under VPN Dashboard, I see where to add domains, but I'm not sure about the syntax for wildcards.

Thank you guys!

99.93% uptime with no downtime?

I set up a little monitor to check a small site that i have, which is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It’s a static site, basically impossible for it to go down... so uptime should be 100%.

And yet, the monitor says 99.93%.
There haven’t been any downtimes, everything is “Up”, responses are around 150–170ms… but the indicator just won’t give me that sweet 100%.

Anyone knows why this happens?
Is it a monitoring glitch, how uptime is calculated, or some tiny micro-lag I can’t see?

I'm using latest version, 2.4.0

EU Small Cheap VPS

I’m looking for a budget EU VPS provider.

My requirements are:

1 vCore / at least 512 MB RAM (better if 1GB)

Guaranteed or at least consistent 1Gbps connection

I’m on a tight budget, so I’m prioritizing price-to-performance. What providers are you currently using that offer these specs without throttling or major stability issues?

Thank you guys!

What do you think about Hostbrr

I would like to buy a storage box myself to store my backups, are they reliable?

I’m a bit concerned about data safety, hardware reliability, redundancy, and the general stability of the company. I’ve seen mixed opinions online and I just want to make sure I can trust the service before moving important files there.
