Who is she?

On July 9, 2026, two healthy, well-groomed dogs were found alone at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades. A beach bag with a swimsuit, dog food and a sunshade was found in a nearby restroom. An eyewitness reported seeing a woman with these dogs in that restroom.

A month later she has not been identified. LAPD's Missing Persons Unit is investigating under Report #26148091. The story has aired locally in Los Angeles but never nationally - and the person who recognizes her may not live in California.

The story has been covered by KTLA, FOX 11 Los Angeles, Patch, KFI AM 640 and Hoodline.

Good Samaritans started a website. Please take a look at pictures of dogs. Someone recognizes them.

Not doing too bad...!

I was warned that a person with ADHD & a lot of free time should not get a 3D printer. Anyway, here I am. I think I'm not doing too bad for not having 3D modeling experience, and never using a 3D printer before.

It's very out of character for me to sit and read the manual, but I'm so excited to see what I can do with a bit of education!

This has been amazing so far. Yes, I've printed things that I would have otherwise bought from a dollar store...but it's the fix & repair printing that is awesome. I've printed the cord-dongly-things that on the blinds' cords, then I replaced the feet of a box fan that kept tipping over. I just broke a tension rod, and I'm going to print out some rod-holders so I can superglue the rod at the right length, mount it in the window.

RIP my electric bill and my filament budget

Any crafty ladies groups?

I like to sew and make costume jewelry.

Are there any social groups around town where girlies get together for an afternoon of crafting and stuff like that?

Update: Host's fridge is not working right

Since it's been over a week, I'm posting this update.

I, too, often wonder what shakes out from other users' posts, so here you go:

I left a signed "thank you" notecard when we left, and included a "p.s." note with the standard status update info (washing the linens, filling the cat's feeder, what time we left, etc.) and mentioned that they should check their food because the fridge was out of temp, and we had to throw things out.

They sent two different thank you messages over the last week, but neither of those mentioned the fridge issue, or offered to replace anything.

They posted their review yesterday.

Today, I wrote a letter, sent through the THS communication system, and told them again about the fridge. I said we had to discard food that was no longer edible (thank you u/Stay_Awake_Jane for softening my vibe!), and stated what I expected to be reimbursed.

They wrote back and said that they don't keep the fridge that warm, it must have been changed by accident, but still apologized and asked how I'd like to get the payment.

So, assuming that comes through, I'm satisfied, and I hope that y'all are too.

Host's fridge is not working right = spoiled food

Bought a bunch of groceries for our stay. I'm a retired chef and I love cooking.

Last night, I went to get the salmon fillet out and it STANK from being spoiled. Odd, it was still in-date, but maybe it was left out at the store & I couldn't tell. Sucks but that's life.

Today I went to get the beef out for tonight's dinner, and it's spoiled too. Stinky and slimy. No longer a coincidence, right?

I used my digital cooking thermometer and tested it. It was 52⁰F. Damn!

I looked at her alcohol thermometer and it's broken (!) so I got my fridge thermometer from the car (see below) and tested: the whole fridge is in the low 50s. In case you don't know, a household fridge should stay at around 34°F.

So now there's a whole lot of other food (chicken, sausage, eggs) that has been stored at unsafe temperatures.

I feel that this is not my fault. I have food safety certification and I'm always very careful. What would you tell the HO?

Do you think that it's out of line to ask for a reimbursement? It's about $75 worth of refrigerator food not counting the other groceries.

FWIW - We do a lot of camping and road trips between sits, so I have a fridge in the car and we use it all the time to transport cold groceries, so I'm certain it was kept cold when we brought everything in the house.

When the sitter cancels, does the homeowner relist or is it automatic?

Hey y'all, I've had an issue come up and for the first time in 4 years (and 80 sits) I have had to cancel.

(It's in January so I'm giving lots of notice)

I am the sitter, so I don't know how it works for the homeowner - do they have to relist or is it automatically made available again?

Alternative to Facebook Marketplace?

What are y'all using to buy, sell, or give away used stuff?

Noticed not many people are posting on freecycle. Craigslist seems sketchy. Facebook Marketplace is a horror story.

Does anyone have good links to share?

Anybody recognize this dog?

Found her on Lagrange road at White Oak woods.

She climbed up into the car so she's healthy and SO sweet 💕

The sheriff's officer that came to the scene is having animal control pick her up.

Contact me if you know anything.

Homeowners: verifying both people in a married couple - does it matter?

Do you care if the 2nd person is "verified" if the sit is being done by two married people who are both staying at your home, at the same time, for the entire sit?

I know there was a place that replaced Jefferson's (some kind of jazz bar, I think?), but that was just after COVID, and they didn't last long.

I'm referring to the place across from the old courthouse, near U-Joint, by the way.

Is there something wrong with the space? I'm not interested in using it, I'm just curious.
