Club Yoto?

Hey all, I'm looking at getting a Yoto Mini player bundle for my boys (6 and 4) and I was wondering if the Yoto club was worth it? I know it's only 5-17$ a month, depending on the tier, but I'm curious as to if you would actually recommend it and if so, which tier?

Is the 10% off discount at the store worth it? Do your kids prefer the digital to the cards or visa versa? Can you even buy physical cards off their website because I'm unsure how to tell which is a physical card and which is a download card and if it's download, how does that exactly work?

I have many questions lol

My dad has cancer.

I don’t know really where to go with this or what I’m even hoping for, maybe just to be among people who understand.

Last year after about six months of sickness and his doctor putting him off, blaming a medicine he was on or his recently diagnosed diabetes for his symptoms, my dad was found to have pancreatic cancer. He went on to get chemo, one of the most aggressive types and to say he was sick constantly was an understatement.

My father, who had always been a stocky, big man not necessarily in fat but in muscle, suddenly turned into a stick. He’s dropped so much weight, he said the last time he was this weight was when he was 16 and in boot camp. ):

He had the Whipple procedure done a month ago and so far aside from his incision, he has been feeling better. He sounded more full of energy, he was doing things, he wasn’t sleeping all the time, he could focus..

He called me a few days to let me know that during the surgery, the dr took 27 samples of various lymph nodes in his gut. Of those, 3 were positive for cancer. Until he heals, we can’t know for sure if it’s the same cancer or a different kind but I just… am having a hard time processing.

I probably sound so stupid, I just really thought this was over. I thought it would be done after the surgery, the doctor said he was confident he got all and the other scans and tests all came back as negative for anything bad.

I just needed to put this somewhere. Thanks for listening.

Spider Legs Scent

Could someone please enlighten me on how it smells because for the life of me, I can't think of what smell it could be. I just think back to when I was a kid and a huge wolf spider crawled on me and I screamed.

Does it smell like fear? lol

Old to New Colors Swatch sheet?

I'm a working mom who has been OUT of the loop as of late and as such, did not know a single thing about Ohuhu updating their colors! I understand the need for this, but I feel such anger at the moment because I happen to be color blind (I can see the main colors fine, but as they start to get into like ocean blue, it becomes harder to tell if it's blue or green, etc) and I use the internet a lot to help me find the correct shades for layering, etc.

I have the Honolulu B 320 set among others and in this economy, I just do not have the cash to buy a brand new set and I'm not finding a single swatch in my admittedly short search, saying "YR30 is now such and such color". Would anyone be able to point me in the correct direction? I was kind of hoping for free, but I am willing to pay for it, since it'll keep me from buying a new $300 set of markers.

Thanks guys!

Who else hated Resellers

So, my six year old is OBSESSED with bugs, but his absolute favorites are spiders and ladybugs. When BAB released the Halloween spider, I HAD to get it for my son IMMEDIATELY and ordered him the main spider and mini spider because like I said, he HAD to have them.

My order finally went from “pending” to exception and I know it’s because there’s no stock of the spiders or the bat that was in the order. And online they’re being resold for upwards of like $300!!

I absolutely hate resellers and I hope every side of their pillow is lava hot. 😡😭

My son is four soon.

My son has not been diagnosed, but I always knew something was off with him and I don’t mean that negatively towards him in anyway; my son was just different and his doctor even agreed.

He never played with others, he didn’t even acknowledge others. He never listened to responded to his name. When he played with toys, he’d just line them up into a huge line - cars, action figures, magnetic tiles, Legos.. they all needed to be in a row that was perfectly straight and if you altered or interrupted what he was doing, a global meltdown would ensue.

He didn’t talk. He wasn’t communicating anything, would only scream cry and sometimes say “mama”, mostly it was “dada” and random weird sounds. Also, the universal theme but as the Minions would sing it. It was a whole thing.

He didn’t like to be touched. My husband had to go into appointments with us and physically restrain our baby/toddler because he would turn into a feral crocodile; he would kick and scream with an intensity that honestly made me worried he would hurt someone.

He stopped eating everything but a few foods and ONLY those foods; he’d have a meltdown if you tried to even get him to look at a new food, let alone touch it. Brushing his teeth was so bad that I would just cry and I dreaded it, because it didn’t matter how many times I did it or how I tried, he just absolutely hated it and honestly, by extension, I think he just hated me.

I talked to his dr about it, she got me into a program and I got a speech therapist that came and helped us. From there, he was accepted into a fantastic PreK early at my older son’s school and has absolutely excelled to the point I almost can’t remember that he was that terrible.

He’s turning four in a few days and his progress is nothing short of amazing.

He talks now, though he still says things in a baby type voice. He says sentences and he’s learning to ask for and to tell what he wants and he does it really well. He even sings, which honestly makes sense because the speech therapist helped me realize that he responds more to music.

He is okay with being touched now and even asks for cuddles and hugs to help regulate his emotions. Bear squeeze hugs are the best for this and he always asks for a squeeze hug. He no longer hits and if he does, it’s simply to show he is at his limit and cannot process anything else and not because he wants to hurt anyone.

He eats more foods and has actually started trying new foods, without screaming and crying and trying to throw plates at me. He will sniff, lick and then take the tiniest bite known to man, but he is TRYING and my heart cannot take it.

He plays with toys, though things usually still end up in a line, he doesn’t have a meltdown because you moved something anymore. He just will put it back in its place and he’s learning to say “stop” or “no” or “mine”. He’s able to play with others and though he hasn’t really progressed to the step of putting a doll in a house and having the doll do a task, I couldn’t be more prouder of him.

He is gentle. He says sorry and gives kisses when he accidentally hurts you. We’re finally starting to potty train although it’s taking a long time because he’s just now finally starting to understand certain things.

He brushes his teeth and lets me do this with NO FUSSING and NO BITING! 😭😭 He RESPONDS to you, even without hearing his name! No one will think he’s deaf anymore 😭😭

Thanks for listening to my teary eyed rant lol

Six months.

It’s been six months and I’m more or less better; I don’t break down all the time sobbing and I can leave my bed and do my day to day life. I can find happiness in every second, find something to be happy and grateful for.. but I’m still haunted by, “what if?”

It hurts, because I’d like to try again but at the same time, I’m overcome by such an extreme fear of it happening again and by the shame of wanting to try again, that I’m not sure I will. My husband has the same mindset to the point he doesn’t want another baby and can I blame him? He and I both went through it, he and I both grieved. He and I both hurt and will forever be changed by it.

No one really gets it. A friend of ours made an innocent and not distasteful joke about us having more kids and it felt like someone slashed my heart into pieces because it probably won’t happen.

At the same time, my best friend is having her first baby. So, naturally, I’m looking at baby stuff and trying to be in the moment with her and I’m so, so excited for her and this chapter she’s on.. but the baby stuff hurts. I have baby fever and baby “no” at the same time lol. Plus she finds out the gender soon and I’m panicking because what if she has the gender I was supposed to have? Will it hurt worse? Will I feel angry that she gets a perfect baby and I don’t?

I just want to be normal again and to stop praying she won’t experience this horrible emptiness.

No one gets it, but maybe someone or all of you here will.

Game Recs for 6 yo son?

My family is going on a trip at the end of the month and I'm looking for some good game recs for my six year old son. He's still working on his reading, so a lot of reading would be tough but I'll be right next to him the entire trip and can help him out. I noticed a lot of titles are on sale on the nintendo eshop right now, so bonus points if they're on sale.

Some of the the games he already has and absolutely loves:
Kill It With Fire
Untitled Goose Game
Grounded
Minecraft
Goat Simulator

It’s been a little over two months since I lost my child at 20 weeks.

Yesterday, a few friends called up and said they were going to kidnap me for a few hours. I let my husband know and kissed my kids and scooted out the door. We were driving to a restaurant and it was dark and gloomy outside, looking like it’s going to rain.

My coworker put on the lullaby I’ve sung to each of my boys and most likely would have sung to my last baby, if they had not passed. I was tearing up and singing along, looking out the window when I saw one patch of the sky lit up. It was absolutely gorgeous, almost like a painting. The thought, “I wonder if that’s where they are?” came to mind and it made me feel less sad, because how can I be so sad when they live in such a beautiful place?

I haven’t told anyone else because it just sounds so insane.. but I feel like that was my sign that they’re okay and waiting for me, whenever my time will come.
