I finally got it right

The second photo is basically what it was ge day before and it was really dull. After spending more time on it, and using blue and green undertones instead of just black and white, I think it looks much better. I'm open to all opinions.

I finally got it right

The second photo is how it was yesterday and I was really losing hope. But after working on it, and using blue and green undertones instead of just black and white, it looks much better.

Help needed

So for context I'm a beginner painter, I made two paintings a few weeks ago and they turned out really good. I started this one and I'm really disappointed with the way its going.

The detailing on the lighthouse and elsewhere is obviously left. I only just started the sea so don't mind that. My problem is the sky. It just looks so dull and I can't get the light and clouds right. I tried giving undertones of blue and green but it didn't work. I would appreciate any tips to save this.

Paintings I've made since rediscovering art

Basically, I left painting for about two years. Now I've started again, and these are the two pieces I've made since. Criticism is welcome.

My first portrait

This is my first portrait I have painted. I took a huge pause in painting due to a depressive bout, so this painting is probably the first in a long time. Criticism is welcome.
