Burning newbie troubleshooting

I have a huge stack of cd-r from tdk, and I'm trying to burn a live album onto them because it's not available anywhere (except Gomez fans hard drives ). I used the computers CD drive, the old Windows XP cd burner and selected the mp3 files and had them all added onto the what you wanna burn part. I'm told it all has burnt but when I go to my cd player it can't read them. They're all mp3 files, I didn't add them as a folder, they were added as individual files, the cd player works with commercial released cds.

Any and all help is desired!

Is it a sample? Steve mccroski gomez low rumbling sound

Steve mccroski gomez, 0.22, low rumbling sound, sorts swells. I have no more words to describe, huge Gomez fan love all this psychedelia and borderline trip hop stuff they did in the early years.

I'd like to use a sound like this in a few ideas of mine but I'm not exactly sure how to make it so I'd love to see what you guys think

How a disrespected funeral in foxford means we are winning the treble

In 1951 county mayo won the all ireland gaelic final (like a yearly world cup for irish counties). In the partying that enaued they refused to respect a funeral procession near the town in foxford. Either a widow, priest or irish traveller cursed the team to not win an all ireland till every member of that team would die.

And in 2023 the last man died. 2026, the mayo team are in the final. Managed by andy moran (wonder why that names familiar), and with an 18 year old teenager as the star despite moving to australia a week following thw final, would play kerry who have won 30 odd finals. Mayo win the final. The county was ransacked

But do you know who else hasnt won a trophy for over 70 years?

Treble incoming, just wait

While we all wait for the big fixture, lets return to a question we asked last year, who is brighton (mens) most attractive player

Last year, the most popular answers were mitoma, ferdi, milner and veltman, with mitoma having the most upvoted comment

We have added alot of new candidates, some have left, retired.

Players that are eligible

All under a brighton contract (over 18)

Will be signing for brighton soon enough

Is named solly march or joel veltman

Is not named igor julio

Edit: currently ferdi is by far in front, with babis having about half his numbers

Songwriting methods to try

Ive started doing alot more serious song writing, mainly via demo recording. Its summer, off school, ive finally got all the stuff i need for full demos.

Ive been using this sort of system for most of the demos

-Drum beat (started out on my rd-8 drum machine but the sound really started to annoy me so ive switched to drum loops online)

-Guitar chords (ill come up with them listening to the drum loop, and then record them)

- Bass

- lead guitar

- Guitar/synth overdubs

Ive gotten some strong demoes from this method. The thing that tends to happen is, these tend to be based around the drum beat and it makes them very much in the genre the drum beat is popular in. Thats howbive ended up with a krautrock and disco song.

If you want some background about me and music

Started out on bass at 10, started learning some guitar at 13, got good in the past year, bought a synth a year ago and a drum machine shortly after. Favourite is bass.

Influences

Duran duran, Japan, Gomez, Mazzy star, David sylvian, bowie, queen, jamiroquai, rory gallagher+ various new wave + funk + blues bands and artists

Do i take the gig

I dont get many gigs, im young still coming into the scene, and my friend has a folk band and one of their memebrs isnt available for a gig, and hes offered it to me. I havent played folk before, but,

It pays well and i dont have to do much for it. The problem? No setlist. Im told they decide what they want to play on the day. I asked how will i know what to play, and i was told its mostly songs in D and G and ill be told by the guitarist on the day, but he also told me a few theyd definately be playing

Im very concerned about that, I am (i try to say this humbly) a very quick learner, and i have a good ear. Ive learnt this from learning friends peigonals as their playing them, and its something im proud of. However, i dont wanna embarrass them or myself, theyre new to their scene aswell.

If you want any more info ask away!

Edit: didnt get the gig, apaprently wanting a night to think about it is too much

4 track cassette recorder

Im desperate to get one (for cheap), in watching a few on ebay.

Will it make things easier? Probably not

Will it make thibgs sound better? Depends on who you ask

Is it cheaper? Ha! Not a hope

But i just think itd be cool to record demos, little songs on tapes. Just to use one. Give friends your tapes see what they think. It just seems so cool. Im also really inspired by one of my favourite bands gomez. Aparently, the majority of their first album was made on one of these thingys.

So to summarise, i will be wasting my money but ill be fairly happy doing so. If anyone has any tips for this id love them.

Thank you for reading

Why hasnt INXS come back like bands like the smiths have

INXS from about 1987 to 1991 were probably top 3 most popilar bands, with a confident, gorgeous talented frontman with swagger in michael hutchence, and with a real funky edge. They had great music. And the stuff off listen like thieves kick X and even shabooh have all the hallmarks of older music thats popular now. So why not?

Im guessing that the fact that inxs were a confident and happy band, with a powerful frontman, is in contrast to the johnny mars and robert smiths, quiet and artsy. People tend to like older sadder music. Which is a shame, because there is a treasure throve of great confident and happy music from the era

Spotify compression (loudness and quietness) is neccessary and can absolutely make a song 10x worse

Today i got a cd ive wanted for a while, liquid skin by Gomez. Its been great on streaming. I put it into the cd player, first 2 tracks, ahh thats unreal. Then the 3rd, bring it on, and if you havent listened to it, the difference betwern the first verse and chorus is huge, and on CD, it was genuinely magic. I was blown away. Its like id had water in my ears and it just got blown out. It has made me appreciate it 10x more. And it really showed that while i know the compression is neccessary, it can take so so much away, those huge dymanic shifts get taken away and its criminal!
