As we read or watch the story, for some whatever plotty reason, whatever our protagonist assumes is somehow 100% true.

And I feel like it concerns the things he practiced before isekai, especially smacking his head lol.

He said he got naked and smacked his head to a tree to be one with nature. If you think about it, Plot and Nature of the story is highly correlated and therefore I think him smacking his head somehow gave him authority over the plot which he may be unaware of.

LN vol 12-13, it was revealed by Chloe that there're countless timelines that Rimuru died.

And, not a single timeline where Rimuru didn't eat Shizu.

It was an absolute fate that Rimuru and Shizu became one
