Refurbished Phone vs Used Phone: What's the Difference?

Refurbished Phone Myth #2

One question I've seen pop up more than once is: A refurbished phone is just a used phone?

I used to think so too.

But after buying a few myself, I realized the refurbished phone vs used phone debate isn't really about whether someone owned the phone before. It's about what happens before it reaches the next owner. A used phone is usually sold as-is by the previous owner. A refurbished phone has typically been inspected, tested, cleaned, and, if needed, repaired before it's listed again. How thorough that process is depends on the seller, which is why experiences can vary.

So, when people ask "refurbished phone vs used phone," I don't think they're interchangeable terms, even though every refurbished phone has been used before.

What do you think? Is there a real difference, or are the two terms basically the same?

Are Refurbished Phones Stolen?

Refurbished Phone Myth #1

I've been buying refurbished phones for a few years now, and one question that keeps coming up is: Are refurbished phones stolen phones?

I can understand where that concern comes from, especially if you've never bought a refurbished phone before.

From what I've seen, reputable refurbishment companies source phones through trade-ins, buyback programs, customer returns, corporate upgrades, and open-box inventory. That's very different from buying a random used phone where the device history might be harder to verify.

Of course, where you buy from matters, which is why checking the seller is just as important as checking the phone itself.

Have you ever worried about this before buying a refurbished phone?

What's an older flagship camera phone that's still worth buying refurbished?

I am considering buying a refurbished phone specifically for photography rather than replacing my current device. Since it would be a secondary phone so I am happy to look at older refurbished flagships if the camera quality is still competitive.

I am curious... what's one older flagship that you think has aged exceptionally well when it comes to photography? It doesn't have to be the most popular recommendation...I am interested in phones that genuinely impressed you and still hold up today.

Would love to hear the recommendations and the reasons behind them.

Shirt ka tisra button- is it worth the time?

A friend of mine suggested me this book but I am not very sure, if I should start it. Coz once I start, I will have to finish it, so I am thinking is it worth the time? Has anyone read it? Is it a good read.

Z Fold8...The biggest upgrade isn't the camera or AI

I think the best thing about the Z Fold8 isn't the camera or the AI.

It's the cover screen.

For the first time, it actually feels like a regular phone when it's closed. I can sense that typing, scrolling, and using it with one hand would just feel a lot more comfortable.

It might not be the flashiest upgrade, but it's the one that would make the biggest difference to me.

If the Fold7's cover screen put you off, would you consider the Fold8 now?

Better platform to buy refurbished iphone 13 mini?

I want to buy the iphone 13 mini but since they have discontinued it, I m not able to find it anywhere....so thought of going the refurbished way.

Saw the phone is available on cashify for 27599 and oldsold for 30499. I have heard mixed reviews abt cashify but I am not very sure about oldsold, how the platform is, if it is genuine and the phone will work fine or not.

I am confused which platform should I give a try. Has anyone experienced buying refurbished phone from these platforms. Or is there any other better refurbished platform where I can get the 13 Mini. Plz help

Myntra cancelled my order for no reason

I had ordered 8 items from Myntra and all the orders have been cancelled from their end. When I asked the customer support, they told me that my address is no service zone which is weird coz I have been ordering on this address and frim from the same myntra account from the past 2 years now. I don't know why this is happening...is anyone else facing the same situation? Or do you have any idea why is this happening

Didn't expect the battery would hold up this well for a refurbished phone

Battery was honestly the main thing I was worried about before ordering a refurbished phone from Cashify.

I thought the backup would be average at best or kuch toh heating issues hoga after a few days. But it’s actually been pretty decent for daily use so far.

Nothing exceptional, just better than what I had expected from a refurbished phone.
