Toyota Corolla oil change?

Hi all,

Toyora Australia recommends 12 months or 15000km distance.

I watched this video https://youtu.be/TdlA3VGVKYs which says that the best way to avoid engine issues is to change oil and filter at least every 6m. It says that the number one cause of engine issues and burning oil post 5 year warranty is due to following dealer schedule.

What do you all do about your oil and filter change? My car is 2025 HEV Corolla bought in Jan 2026 new and is at 9000km, I have not done anything to it since picking it up from the dealer.

Nikon Z5II + 24-70 f/4 S vs Sony a6700 + Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 for travel photography?

Budget:
Up to around A$3,000 (can go 3500 max or will look for deal/sales), but value matters. I am in Australia and using Camera House prices as a reference.

Country:
Australia.

Condition:
New.

Type of Camera:
Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.

Intended use:
Mostly travel photography.

If photography, what style:
Landscapes, open fields, scenic views, city/street photography, tight European/Italian-style alleys, and portraits of my wife around nice scenery. Portraits would mostly be full-body and half-body, not tight headshots.

If video, what style:
Very minimal. I will mostly use my phone for video, but may occasionally use the camera for short travel clips.

What features do you absolutely need:
Good image quality for travel, I want something that feels like a solid long-term camera rather than something I will quickly outgrow.

Portability:
Important, but not the only priority. I do not need the absolute smallest setup, but I also do not want something so large that I avoid carrying it while travelling.

Cameras you're considering:

  1. Nikon Z5II + NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Camera House price: around A$3,599, with a $150 EFTPOS card promo.
  2. Sony a6700 + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Camera House price: A$1,929 for the a6700 body plus A$849 for the Sigma lens, so around A$2,778 total before cashback. There also appears to be a $250 Sony cashback promo.

Cameras you had :
I previously used a Canon APS-C camera with a 50mm prime. I disliked how tight it felt for full-body portraits, often needing to back up several metres.

Notes:
I am currently leaning toward the Nikon Z5II + 24-70mm f/4 S because of full frame, the true 24mm wide end, and overall image quality for travel photography. However, the Sony a6700 + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 is cheaper, smaller, and seems very versatile.

Is the Nikon worth the extra cost for travel photography, or is the Sony combo the smarter choice? Please not I would like to hear your reasoning as well comparing body features as well as lens specs not just your knee jerk reaction.

confused about gear?

Hey all,

I used to own a Canon SL3 and a 50mm prime. Loved the portraits I got of my wife while travelling, but hated how far back I had to stand because of the crop factor. The kit lens also didn’t look much better than my iPhone.

I’ve been using my iPhone Pro for two years now, but there lots of moments when I miss having a real camera for travel, portraits, and landscapes, especially when lighting is tricky or phones just do it justice.

  1. If I’m planning to use a zoom lens, what practical advantages does full‑frame give me over APS‑C? Considering full frame to set and forget.
  2. What body + lens combo would you recommend for:
    • street and travel scenes
    • portraits of my wife (Instagram‑style travel photos)
    • landscapes and sunsets/sunrises
    • just think of family travel but instagram worthy.
  3. Budget is around AUD 3000 body+glass but less is better of course.
  4. My research took me to the Sony A7C II, but the body alone is ~AUD 2800.
  5. The A7C II’s AI autofocus and “intelligent auto” features sounded meaningful for someone like me who mostly shoots in auto mode, or are they just gimmicks?

I’m not aiming to become a pro — I just want great‑looking travel photos that feel like a step above what a phone can do. In an ideal world would love an iphone with DSLR capability 😃

Thanks for any advice.

QUESTIONARE

Budget: AUD 3000 body+lens

Country: Australia

Condition: new only

Type of Camera: full frame no idea about the rest

Intended use: photo but sometimes video so hybrid shooting

End use: personal album and instagram

If photography: landscape, portrait, street.

What features do you absolutely need: no idea

What features would be nice to have: to be as easy to use as an iphone

Portability: travel friendly

Cameras you're considering: Sony a7Cii

Cameras you already have: had SL3 Rebel

The democratic principle, the gas tax and Albo and his cronies?

  1. I’m not an expert in political studies, but isn’t the democratic principle that we elect politicians to represent us in parliament?
  2. If that’s the case, shouldn’t the parties represent the will of the people?
  3. If the majority of people are telling Albo and his gang that they want tax on gas, isn’t that the will of the people?
  4. According to the democratic process, shouldn’t Albo honour our collective will, even if he disagrees? This means that if he and his party think taxing gas will be disastrous, but the Australian people want it, he should do what the people want, stay quiet about it, and let the Australian people figure it out if things go wrong, since we decided so.
  5. Isn’t it not Albo’s job to decide what’s good for Australia when the people have spoken? It’s fine if the people are silent and he makes a strategic decision, but it’s not okay when everyone says no to immigration, no to free gas for foreign corporations, and yes to our resources benefiting the Australian people!

Hi all,

Its official, scratched my Corolla today whilst parking 🤦 there is a line and some dots of paint chips on my right bumper side above the tire...

There are no dents or anything like that, so I was thinking I can use some paint touch up to fix the look as it was just a scrape. However, I am struggling to find anywhere to buy those online, there is only one website that showed up and looks a bit doggy.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

P.S. it looks worse in person.

Hi all,

Might be a stupid question but what could be the issue of using more high octane fuel than recommended in your car?

I have Corolla Ascent Sport 2025 and it is certified for E10 and Unleaded91, which is fine. But what if i put U95 or U98 as main? What is the effect of these fuels long term on the vehicle?

G’day everyone,

I’ve been putting together this setup, and it’s starting to get a bit cluttered. Hit me up with your ideas on how I could tidy it up. I’m not talking about swapping things out or buying new ones, but rather rearranging them to make it more comfortable and visually appealing. Feel free to share your ideas, and if you’re up for it, even use AI to create some mock-ups!

EDIT: I use this for work and light entertainment
EDIT2: Ignore the cables at the bottom, I am only concerned with the desk surface area!

I think Apple is releasing a feature lacking foldable - no face id, no good camera array etc so that each year for the next 5 years it can add one feature at a time as "upgrades" typical to its incremental upgrade cycle. It will most likely do that for 5 years, then change the design and start all over. What do you think?
