Did a dumpster dive at work after IT tossed a bunch of old laptops. Found 6 Macbook Pros. Worth to clean up and recover?

Found 6 Macbook Pros all in silver/grey

  • 2 are model number a2141 (Intel?) with the 'icon' bar at the top of the keyboard.
  • 4 are model number a2780 (M2?) no 'icon' bar

They all need some cleaning but 5/6 power on and boot to the recovery screen asking me to select a wifi connection.

The 6th boots to the welcome start screen saying hello in a bunch of languages.

I have no power cables but was able to get a successful charge using a usb-c cable

I can't do much with them right now at work. Are these worth to try and clean up, give to family or friends to use or is the technology to far out of date to be worth it? The only Apple device I presently use is a Mac Mini. I do not use an iPhone.

Would someone give me the TLDR on the use of motes please?

I know I can upgrade gear by combining two of the same item together but I am unsure how to use these motes I am gathering.

I was told to put them into my 'storage' under alt currency which I did.

I was told I use these motes to upgrade gear and spells?

If so how?

Also, why would I use these motes on gear I would just upgrade in a few levels anyway?

Same for spells. Wouldn't I just wait for end game gear and level 50 spells to use these motes?

Upgrade to the latest Oneplus now or find a new home?

I use the Oneplus 11 5G as my daily driver. I upgraded from a Oneplus 7 Pro three or four years ago.

I usually keep my older phone as a backup in case anything happens to the current phone. I've done this for years. I noticed last night that somehow my older phone's screen has a huge crack in it. Obviously the kids have 'no idea' how it happened. So I am thinking of upgrading my current Oneplus 11 5G and then using it as my new backup.

I am looking at the Oneplus 15R which I can get unlocked on Amazon or direct for $799

I also understand that Oneplus is leaving the US market which has caused me to rethink my decision. Would it still be safe to grab the OnePlus 15R now and use it for the next 3-4 years before making a switch to another brand or should I just make the move now?

I looked at the S26+ and it seems good as well but I love my OnePlus phone and all its features and would love to stay in this environment.

Anyone here play D&D at Grave-Troll Games on main street?

I'm curious about the atmosphere? I want to bring my son to play organized D&D and want to make sure he will feel comfortable?

We tried Relentless Dragon an Amherst street and it was awful. The place was stuffy, smelled, 2 cats running around, and although we appreciated the customer bathroom, it was disgusting.

Having both a traditional 401k and a Roth 401k at the same time?

Where I work we have an option of a traditional 401k and a Roth 401k. The company matches 3% of the first 6% allocated. I am sitting at a personal 16% as of today.

I've only ever contributed money into the traditional 401k as that is what I always assumed was the right choice. There is roughly $250,000 sitting in there presently.

A financial advisor here at work suggested that as we get closer to retirement it would be beneficial to move from the traditional 401k into the Roth 401k to lower the tax rate in retirement.

I looked into this and while it does make a lot of sense, I am worried about the huge tax hit I would take now during the conversion into the Roth 401k. I also understand I can do the conversion slowly over the next few years to lower that huge tax hit. While I do have the money to pay off this tax hit sitting in a savings account, I am not sure I want to do this.

My thought was to leave all the money sitting in the traditional 401k, untouched, not move it at all, and just start a 'new' Roth 401k and contribute to that instead. I would still do my 16% with the 3% company match.

Is this a wise choice?

For note... I also have a Roth IRA through Fidelity, some company stocks through Merrill Lynch, about $100,000 in savings, and a little bitcoin I bought about 15 years ago.

I am 56, I make around $95,000 ($1,000s more with yearly bonus) a year and plan to retire 12-13 years for now. I live in NH but work in MA

Has anyone just stopped taking Eliquis or asked t be switched to something else?

I was put on Eliquis 5-6 years ago because of PE clots in one of my lungs. Never had any pain or reason to believe I had any clots. Only reason it was found was because I got hurt playing sports and got a scan for that

The doctor at the time said he could not determine why I had the clots and told me I would be on a blood thinner for the rest of my life. I guess there is some real expensive test that my insurance won't cover that could be done but even then it may not reveal anything new.

To this day I have never had any pain or reason to think there was anything going on.

I've never had another scan or test since then. I've been to 2 different hemotologists and when I ask about stopping, I am just told 'nope sorry.' They won't even test for anything past this point and it bother me especially since I am getting close to retirement age and I don't want to spend more than half my monthly allowance on medication.

I've read there may be a generic Eliquis coming in a few years but have no idea what it will cost. I really don't want to have this blood thinning monkey on my back forever

Payoff auto loan completely after a few months of payments?

I bought my new car back in November of last year. I've only made 5 monthly payments and with the higher interest rate, I decided it would be best to just pay it all off at once.

I got the payoff amount through the online portal and have the money in my account to pay it off now.

Is the payoff amount that is listed the complete payoff amount or are there any other hidden fees or costs that would not be included in that number shown?

nflverse github updates for player_stats_2025.csv?

Would anyone happen to know when nflverse github player_stats will update to include last year's data?

I'm looking for player_stats_2025.csv

I've been building my app to include and use this data and I am currently working through options using the player_stats_2024.csv data and the 2025 schedule for testing purposes to see how accurate it is.

Once the player_stats_2025.csv and the 2026 schedule is available, I can start making any adjustments for the upcoming season

Last Friday I setup a Roth IRA on Fidelity. My 401K is there as well.

The Roth was setup successfully and I see that I now need to connect to a bank to transfer funds. Easy enough.

When I went through that process, there were 2 options. The first was to log into my bank through Fidelity and the second was to manually enter information like routing and account numbers. I went with option 2 and manually entered my information

I got a couple of emails a day or two later. The first was to let me know that Fidelity was working to link my accounts. The second email was to review my request and account records. I logged back into Fidelity and see that my bank checking account information is linked and ready to use.

When I try to transfer any amount of money ( I tried $100 to $5000 ) I get a message saying that I can't do a transfer this way because Fidelity could not verify my bank details and to try a different way to transfer funds by Bank Wire or to enter my Roth IRA details through my bank and push the funds instead of pulling from Fidelity.

I checked my bank details through the manage section and I see my bank checking account is correct.

I do under stand that the initial message said that the linking of the bank account could take from 1 to 5 business days and it has been only been 3-4 business days (minus the weekend) but my bank details are already there so I am having trouble understanding.

I tried to do a live chat this morning but I was asked a question at the start about my issue being with crypto ( I believe ) it told me to call a number instead 800-343-3548

I called that number and even before I had an option to talk to a real person I am asked to enter my social and password. That seemed a little weird so I hung up.

I read online that Fidelity may send a couple of small money transfers to my checking account that I would need to verify but that has not happened.

Is there someone here that could help guide me please?

As the title says, I have just opened a Roth IRA through Fidelity. My 401K, through work, is also at Fidelity if it matters. I already max out my 401K.

I know at my age I can add catch up funds each year. As of right now, I have $5,000 added to the account to open it but have not invested as of yet as I am in data overload mode right now trying to determine the correct strategy for investing. I do plan on putting the max amount each year into the Roth until I retire.

My goal is to retire around 67-68. My job isn't too stressful and I do enjoy it.

From people I have talked to at work, I am told to put it all into a target date fund. I have read about the Fidelity Freedom Funds which are "actively managed" and Fidelity Freedom Index Funds which I guess are not managed but have lower fees?

The 2 target date funds I was told to look at are Fidelity Freedom Index 2040 Fund (FBIFX) and Fidelity Freedom Index 2035 Fund (FIHLX)

I have never invested before and I am a bit worried of making a huge mistake with my retirement. Obviously I want to keep fees as low as possible to make the most of my money but I fear making bad choices.

Talking with one investor casually over dinner one night he recommended I Put 60% into FZROX (Fidelity ZERO Total Market) and 40% into FXNAX (FXNAX). He said this would give me plenty of 'meat' for growth while keeping a large safety net in bonds.

He also brought up FZILX (Fidelity ZERO International) to diversify outside of the US market but I have not researched that part yet.

Would someone here be able to guide me in the right direction and avoid costly mistakes?

I've had a Mail Plus account for a little under a year now. I have been paying monthly ($4.99 /month)

Because of some life issues, I can no longer afford to keep paying for this.

Does my account revert to the free tier or does it get deleted forever?
