how would you rank Miriam’s retirement enclosure?

how would you rank Miriam’s retirement enclosure?

She’s about 19 months old and I’ve noticed her losing her grip. I’m worried she doesn’t feel like she’s climbing and that might be stressful for her.

do interpreters always work standing?

I was at a classical music performance and there was an asl interpreter onstage who was standing up the entire time. His performance was wonderful but I couldn’t help but wonder why he was standing up the whole time when it looked so exhausting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an interpreter sit down while doing their job and it made me curious.

She keeps climbing up is this ok for the first day?

I’m a first time T owner and got this beautiful B. boehmei today. I know they can climb if they’re feeling stressed (which a long car ride and new environment probably would do) but I’m wondering if this is normal and she’ll just need adjusting time or if something is wrong. Also I’m trying to figure out if this enclosure is good for her it’s from the vender but it seems small please let me know I wanna do my best

How can I help my brother?

My brother is 22, has cerebral palsy as well as intellectual disabilities and can speak but not clearly and in his own way. I understand everything he says and what message he’s trying to get across even if he’s not “conversational” in the typical sense.

He stopped speaking in school years ago after they tried to give him a communication device and stopped trying to understand his oral speech. Since then he became selectively mute at school and won’t even talk to me when I am there and wasn’t able to use a device either. I was hoping it would not be the same when he switched environments.

He is now aging out of his school and moving to a day program. Today was his first day and I was really hoping he would speak and interpret the new environment as a “talking place”. I wrote out lists of his words and what he might be saying if he says something and they can’t understand. He didn’t say anything at all all day.

I am hoping he’s just getting used to the new environment but I’m really stressed out. Given that even when he does speak at home it is limited I don’t really have a way to speak with him about it I’m worried it will be the same situation as school.

Even when he wasn’t talking at school he was enjoying himself and interacting but there is so much more to him when he can speak and sing and I’m scared his program won’t be able to see that. I would be so devastated for him if every program he went to only saw him non verbal because that’s not who he is.

If anyone has any suggestions or ways you think I can help him please let me know we’ve been trying to figure this out for years

What random stuff do you use for heat intolerance?

So summers are very rough for me. I get overheated randomly in the snow so when it’s 70 and up i’m usually done for.
Over the years I’ve collected many methods for combatting this.

I use:
torras Cooling handheld fan
torras neck fan
spray bottle fan
lower back ice pack wrap
i carry around instant ice packs
cooling neck wraps (the ones you put in water)

I do the best that I can and on some days…. this still isn’t enough.

if you have a product or method you swear by, PLEASE let me know

Is there a reason they start saying bitch in season 7?

So I’m rewatching and in the first six seasons I can’t remember them ever cursing. In season seven they start using the word bitch every episode. I haven’t been keeping track of other curse words. Is there a reason why they did this?

My Carolina jumper keeps falling. enclosure problem?

So my baby girl Carolina (creative name I know..) is always falling down. off of walls and plants and different decor in her enclosure. She’s never been injured by it but I’m wondering if something is wrong in her setup or if she needs something that I haven’t been giving. The only issue I can think of is that her enclosure might be overcrowded. Let me know what you think.

I hate it so much it’s really a big reason I’ve been struggling so much in college lately. By the time I get motivated to do an assignment I have to do a million other steps and it just feels like such a barrier to me. I’ve seen some other posts on here about it I’m just struggling so much currently.
There should be a reasonable accommodation against this as well as online portals in general there are so many steps to even start assignments and it’s a nightmare.

▲ 10 r/ARFID

So I meet a lot of the criteria for arfid as do many people in my family. I am not sure how much of my trouble in this area is nature and how much is nurture. As a child my mom would always show her distain for certain foods and be unable to look at people eating them or be anywhere near them. I must have been influenced by that since I am the same way.

Currently I work with children and love it. It is just very hard for me to be around them during lunch. I am usually pretty good but if a child has a fear food of mine for lunch I can barely handle it and feel extremely sick.

It also makes me worried for my future kids since I don’t know how I’ll expose them to foods I just can’t handle but I want to encourage a healthy diet. That’s way down the line but it still worries me.
