Did CBS do Talarico a favor?

Remember when the whole “No Talarico on air” thing happened? At first, I thought this was just another instance of Paramount bending over, but maybe it was a good thing? I know that sounds weird (even feels weird thinking it), but Talarico’s popularity has exploded. Now I’m not saying this is the sole reason, I doubt it’s even in the top 5 reasons. There’s a lot to like about the guy, but there’s quite a few comments on the video saying “didn’t know the guy, now I’m donating and I’m not even in Texas.” I feel like a lot of people were driven to watch the interview on YouTube solely out of the situation around it. Plus, it’s not like a lot of political interviews on Colbert and other late night shows are collecting tons of views. Talarico’s has almost 10 million, he was only on once, and it was only six months ago. Idk, it was incredibly stupid for CBS to do, but can we honestly say the interview wouldn’t have topped 1.5 million views tops without it? And again, I’m not saying it’s the sole or even a very big reason. But I definitely think the situation may have helped him a bit. Stephen has a lot of sway. He’s been here for years and has interviewed a lot of really important and respected people. He’s a voice people trust.

Are my feelings on the episode weird?

This episode wasn’t my favorite while watching, but now that it’s over, I think I like it more. Which seems odd. I feel like if I watch it a second time, I’ll feel different. But while it was happening, I guess I just felt like season 1 captured the “first half of season being villain of the week like the OG show” better (not perfect, season 1 has “Motendo,” season 2 has the underwhelming “Weapon X” episode). I still feel that way, but I have better opinions of the episode now that it’s over. Good into for me to Polaris. I knew she was Magneto’s daughter, but not much else before this. I like her. I’ll definitely rewatch, but my first watch was peculiar. Is anyone else feeling like that or is it just me?

I really wanted to like Dead City

But I am actually quite bored. Which is kind of crazy. It’s a story about a war torn Manhattan filled with zombies and an invading army. That premise has so much potential, and that’s not even getting into the main characters and all their personal history. Now I’m not saying it’s awful. It has its moments, but as much as it pains me to say, it feels like a slog to get through more often than not. I must admit, I’m a little bummed. I love Maggie and Negan’s dynamic (at this point, probably the only one lol). I know I’m probably not the first to post something like this, but I just gotta say it.

Is this JME?

This has been driving me crazy for weeks. Is this James Monroe Iglehart behind John Oliver? I know he was in another episode of Oliver’s show, and this sounds a lot like the voice he did for Spamalot. If not, please help identify.

Why do live action remakes make so much $?

SO many people say they don’t want these live action remakes of old movies. And yet, they have made SO much freaking money. People flock to go see them. Granted, Snow White and Little Mermaid didn’t do so hot. But Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, How to Train Your Dragon, Jungle Book (though I’ll admit this one improves on the OG for me), Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, and both Lion King movies made bank at the box office. Despite the “demand,” it seems like the only original movies people are willing to spend money on are original horror movies (Sinners, Obsession, Weapons [which apparently is getting a prequel for some stupid reason, and people are probably going to go see it. But my prequel/sequel rant is another post], etc). Are people just only going to see a movie where they know what will happen then getting angry if it’s a bit different and angry if it’s exactly the same? Seriously, wth?

How come there’s only nine episodes?

Season one had 10. I’m pretty sure season three is gonna have 10. Why doesn’t season two?

I really want this to be

Partly because I could always use more Matthew Lillard, and partly because I want the X-Men yesterday!

What happened to Shores?

I know that plot of land is “cursed,” but Shores lasted a year longer than most. Shame, because they didn’t suck. I’m not gonna say they were great, but I enjoyed their milkshakes and line dancing. Now where am I supposed to let my inner cowboy shine?

Seriously though, that seems to me like a pretty stellar location, why tf can it never usually keep a place longer than a school year? What’s this, like 4 closed places?

“Don’t like this, can’t look away” moments

“God, I don’t like seeing this, and yet it’s so good I can’t look away.” I’ve had this thought watching a few different shows (Dexter right now). What are some moments you found yourself saying this. Let’s make it challenging and say deaths don’t count (I feel like a lot, myself included, would say Glenn). For me, my moment like this was Negan forcing Rick to cut Carl’s arm off. I was still reeling from Abraham and Glenn, I thought this was a real possibility. The acting from Andrew Lincoln was so raw, my stomach was turning. Being forced to cut his own son’s arm off after watching family members brutally die right in front of him. And yet, I couldn’t look away. It was so pure in that moment, I just felt trapped in place. Loving and hating what I was seeing.

What are some of y’all’s?

Surf organizations/Organzinaciones de surf en Granada/UGR

I’m about to study abroad at UGR, and as excited as I am, I’m a little nervous about living somewhere that isn’t next to the water. Are there any surf groups at UGR that take trips to western Spain, or Portugal, or even Morocco? If not, are there outside groups?

¿Hay algún grupo de surf en UGR que haga viajes al oeste de España, Portugal o incluso Marruecos? Si no, ¿hay grupos externos?

The man is clearly a gifted artist. Whether you agree with his message or not, his works speak volumes. However, how tf do you just drop a statue in the middle of a decent foot traffic area and have NOBODY see you doing it? Murals are a little more explainable, you can do them solo and quietly (relatively speaking). It’s tricky I’m sure, though you can sneakily do a spray painting. BUT A STATUE?!? Just dropped in the middle of Waterloo Place?!? What the hell?!? HOW the hell?!? I mean, that’s gotta require a truck and a team. Yet they just moved a statue and nobody can say “I saw this guy.” I’m not a Londoner (case in point, idk if you even call yourselves that), so maybe that was a super dark or not busy area. But seriously, how does he do it?!?

Love Cajun/Creole food, but turns out there’s no bullet train from SD to NOLA (go figure). So I gotta find the next best thing. Any recommendations?

Edit: thanks y’all. Buds might be the most recommended place I’ve gotten since I’ve been here. Top of my list.

Finding a damn campsite here is harder than finding a surf shop in South Dakota. Says first come first serve. I’ve found conflicting reports, so I’d figure I’d ask and wait for people to either confirm it’s authenticity or call me a dumbass.
